Mongostein,

It’s time for a new console generation already?

Mongostein,

Oh good I still haven’t upgraded from the last generation. I may just skip this one at this point, the only games I feel like I’m missing out on are the new Spider-Man and the unreleased GTA VI

Mongostein,

Nah, it was Coleco/Atari - Coleco lost

Then Nintendo/Atari - Atari lost

Then Sega/Nintendo

Then Sega/Nintendo/Sony - Sega lost

Then Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft - Nintendo lost, but pivoted to play a different game.

Then you can throw things in there like 3DO and Jaguar Turbo FX, but they didn’t do so got to be considered contenders in the “war”

Mongostein,

I’m with ya. When it’s gaming time, I just want it to work. I don’t want to be fiddling with settings constantly.

That being said, I do prefer RPGs and RTSs much more with a keyboard and mouse, so I’ll usually play those on my computer, but that’s not such a problem any more with keyboard and mouse being supported by consoles.

Mongostein,

You must be younger than me. I grew up in the 90s and the Sega/Nintendo rivalry was intense.

I think it was the SNES/Genesis era when “who has the better graphics” started to matter.

At the time, I was actually of the opinion that the N64 was a step down from the SNES. Sure the graphics were 3D, but they looked like shit even then. Nintendo really fucked up by sticking with cartridges that generation.

It Took Me 6 Hours to Learn Anything in Stormgate - Day9TV (Professional Review) (www.youtube.com) angielski

I wanted to share and highlight this video for others to see. This is such a thorough and amazing resource for the dev team at Frost Giant (the makers of Stormgate) that I hope they have seen. The breakdown and walk-through of the different elements of the game was such an amazing thing to watch....

Mongostein,

How is it not a problem that this looks so much like StarCraft?

Mongostein,

Never played it, but it sounds like the achievement is meant to surprise you. Like, it’s not meant to encourage people looking up skirts, it’s more like the console going “Busted!”

Mongostein,

“I put 100 hours in to chapter 2 after I beat this game. It’s terrible.”

🙄

The Indie Chat & Recommendation Thread (cdn.imgchest.com)

“Inspired” by the Square-Enix putting their foot in their mouth thread, I thought it’d be interesting to make a little thread about indie games. People always talk about wanting to try different, cheaper titles, but with how hard it is to get good gaming news and the state of advertisement/marketing, word of mouth tends to...

Mongostein,

Clan Lord. An MMO that’s been running since the 90s and still gets regular updates. It’s long past the point of a monthly subscription, only costing $15 to get a character.

Mongostein,

I found Mechanicus to be lackluster. Like a mobile game ported to PC. Gladius is far superior.

Maybe I’ll check it out in a couple years when it’s on sale.

Mongostein,

You’re right, but all I see is condescension and complaints with no solutions.

What have you done to improve the world lately?

Mongostein,

So nothing but bitch. Gotcha.

Mongostein,

Well, I don’t live in the UK, so it’s not for me to sign, and I wasn’t talking about this specific thing.

Have you helped anyone lately? Try it. It feels better than bitching endlessly online.

Mongostein,

I don’t like it as much as the previous entries, but aside from the Batmobile missions and the twist that was obvious from the start, I enjoyed it

Mongostein,

Yeah Wizards of the Coast isn’t the same company as when they signed the deal for BG3.

Smart of them to ditch the sinking ship that is D&D.

Mongostein,

Thanks for expanding on my point.

They don’t need to be associated with WotC as they keep fucking up. Other RPG systems are becoming more and more popular.

Maybe they can partner with Paizo and make the next Pathfinder game, although I’d feel bad for Owlcat because their games have been great too.

Mongostein,

True, the Divinity games were plenty of fun with their own system

Mongostein,

OpenRA is better

Mongostein,

Red Alert

Mongostein,

Custom maps abound! Combined arms is great too.

Mongostein,

Fair enough, but I believe there may be a toggle for that.

Mongostein,

Indeed, but someone has recreated the original Red Alert and that’s really all I need.

Mongostein,

You mean the TalkBoy FX. You must not have wanted it as bad as I did.

Mongostein,

I had pizza rolls and played Borderlands 3 last night, but was asleep on the couch at 8:00. I’m 39.

Mongostein,

That’s really all I ever want updated on old games. Trying to play Goldeneye with the original control scheme these days is not cool

Mongostein,

I put the controller down, drink some water, come back.

Star Trek: Discovery Cancellation Gets Even Worse (www.giantfreakinrobot.com) angielski

Despite Star Trek: Discovery's critical success, it was far from a fan-favorite. Though all four seasons boast an average 85 percent critical score, the audience score is at a dismal 37 percent. Since audience scores are more strongly correlated to overall viewership, Discovery simply wasn't pulling the numbers to make it a...

Mongostein,

The original Star Fox made me inverted for life. I don’t think you could switch it.

Inverted make sense if you think of it as controlling your neck and not your eyes.

Mongostein,

All those games were produced by BioWare over the course of a decade. BG3 is only a couple months old.

A sequel wouldn’t take as long to develop now that they have the engine and with the success of BG3, I think we’ll get another.

Mongostein,

This sounds really cool but I’ve never heard of it. Can anyone vouch for the safety of the programs?

Mongostein,

I wouldn’t even know where to start 😆

Mongostein,

Ok, after backing up my computer just in case I tried it out and it’s dope af

Mongostein,

If you’re in to that, check out Clan Lord. It’s been running since ‘99 with monthly updates.

Mongostein,

There’s just too many papers and news sources out there to make subscriptions viable.

Someone needs to start a non-profit that works with news organizations to get paid per click for ad free no-BS news.

From the users POV it would be like topping up your cell phone minute or whatever.

Mongostein,

I played the Kamala campaign and had lots of fun. Got bored on the Kate Bishop campaign and didn’t continue.

Mongostein,

I was thinking to myself, “John Doe really reminds me of Will Smith in Independence Day, but slightly less corny.”

Then his Anthony Mackie Jr showed up as young John Doe and I was like, “oh, he IS just as corny as Will Smith”

Red Dead Redemption's PS4 And Switch Ports Don't Seem Worth The $50 Price Tag (kotaku.com)

Some good news and bad news for you all, today. In case you missed it, Rockstar just announced that Red Dead Redemption is coming to PlayStation 4 and Switch later this month. That’s the good news. Here’s the bad news: These ports are extremely barebones, completely lacking multiplayer support, and seem to offer few to no...

Mongostein,

GTA VI is going over budget and they need a quick release to reel in some cash.

That’s just theory.

Mongostein,

Those two ideas don’t conflict with each other.

Mongostein,

I feel like you have exactly the same evidence to support your claim as I do mine: none.

Mongostein,

Ah, I’ve seen this problem in storytelling broken down to this:

You don’t want your story to be a bunch of “and then and then and then.” You want your story to be “because this happened, this other thing happened, then because of that, this other thing happened.” Etc etc.

Still a good read.

Mongostein,

I can’t wait for Diablo 4 on GamePass 🤷🏻‍♂️
