MrScottyTay,

It doesn’t emulate wii and GameCube games it runs them natively

MrScottyTay,

Yeah the “virtual wii” mode is just running on what is a slightly better wii chipset. It can even run triforce arcade games because of that slightly better power. So it can run anything the wii can, which includes GameCube.

MrScottyTay,

I’m pretty certain these patents are actually relatively new, keep that in mind too

MrScottyTay,

Fucking awful. I loved DKO and haven’t found a replacement for it yet. It had such good potential but they fucked up initially marketing it (the whole pay to access a f2p beta with the ability to get it free outright from giveaways) and then refusing to be transparent about updates and future dev for over a year just letting it slowly die.

MrScottyTay,

Yeah I’m never going to play any of their games now in case I enjoy them.

Are there any recent-ish single player, complete games that are similar to Rise of Nations and would work on Mac or at least on WINE? angielski

I love that game and it’s the best RTS I’ve played. It seemed to basically rip off the CIV games heavily but simplify them and put them in an RTS context. Everything I loved about Age of Empires as a kid but much better and also spanning the ancient age to the information age....

MrScottyTay,

I’ve not played it yet but beyond all reason is a new rts that’s free and i don’t think it’s “free to play” free either but i might be wrong about that

MrScottyTay,

I’ve got CDs I’ve had for 25+ years and they’re still fine

MrScottyTay,

For the games you can play on ps5 to get an equivalent PC costs way more. And if you’re someone who prefers single player games, Sony has the most timed exclusives if you want them sooner. Also having a UHD Blu-ray player is great too for those with atmos sound systems.

MrScottyTay,

5 was the only I never played because i never had an Xbox past the 360. Is there a massive jump between the end of that and 6?

MrScottyTay,

Nah the sound effects are fantastic. Definitely adds to the weird vibe the game has

MrScottyTay,

Absolutely, sound effects are a must stay on, even when consuming other media at the same time

MrScottyTay,

After what feels like 20 years, it still being in alpha should worry you more than if this current state was called a beta.

MrScottyTay,

Warframe feels just as riddled though with all of its different kinds of currencies and crafting mechanics. It may not have an egregious mtx model but the game loop around it still feels like it’s meant to. I much more enjoyed the game in beta when it was simpler. I go on it now and I haven’t got a fucking clue what to do, fumble around for an hour and just decide to play something else instead.

MrScottyTay,

For other games that would be described as development hell

MrScottyTay,

That’s the thing, had no idea there were specific story missions or where to do them

MrScottyTay,

That’s good to know

MrScottyTay,

People have a hard on for steam though so they give it a pass for everything.

MrScottyTay,

Yeah i think that tv is still a smart tv just not an android based smart tv (or it might still be Android since that is also very Linux like, especially when you remove Google services)

PS5 Homescreen Now Replaces Unique Video Game Art With Annoying Ads You Can’t Turn Off (www.ign.com) angielski

Wow, this is awful. Some people reported that these ads are also very petty and not necessarily related to the game, like apparently Elden Ring shows an ad for a licensed mousepad when you hover over the game now…...

MrScottyTay,

It’s not an algorithm, it’s just the latest news for the game. The news feature has been a part of ps5 since the beginning. This is replacing key art with the picture for the news article/video and the title replacing the games logo.

MrScottyTay,

It’s not an ad per se. They’re replacing the key art and game logo with the picture and title of the latest news post for the game you’re on.

MrScottyTay,

I think it is intended behaviour, but it’s not meant to be a system wide thing. I can see this being useful for multiplayer and live service games.

MrScottyTay,

I’ll have to watch this see how good pisser is

What is your favorite Assassin's Creed game? angielski

Hi guys, I have the hunger for more history games. I have to say that usually I’m not a huge AC fan, but last summer I played Odyssey and I’m a huge ancient history nerd and I think that the game and the period were represented very well. (The Story was kinda meh, but serviceable). What other AC game would you recommend for...

MrScottyTay,

I just finished 1 for the first time in a very long time. I really enjoyed its simplicity and wish we got that gameplay loop again but with the mechanics of at least 2

Currently playing bloodlines before moving onto 2.

I think looking back, I really enjoyed brotherhood the most, but I also think my time with its multiplayer is giving me rose tinted glasses. Revelations’ ending is my favourite of all of them and I still think of it to this day.

I also don’t think 3 is as bad as everyone says. I really enjoyed Connors story and climbing trees, but desmonds end makes me resent the game somewhat, especially since to me that marked the end of my interest in the series. Playing through 4 confirmed it because after that I didn’t play anymore due to it feeling like there was no overarching story to keep me wanting anymore.

MrScottyTay,

I love me the PS2 era need for speed games.

Burnout 3 & revenge.

Dirt 2 has one of the best licensed soundtracks for a game, same for the OG Forza Horizon.

Modern ones, even horizon 4 and 5 feel very hollow compared to these in my opinion.

Super Woden GP 2 is an outlier to that though.

MrScottyTay,

Hot pursuit is barely an open world game. There’s never a point to find around in the open world, in fact most people might even miss that you can do that.

MrScottyTay, (edited )

These are some solid picks. Grid is probably my favourite game that is closest to being a sim racer. Love doing the 24 heure le mans

MrScottyTay,

They did yeah. And the time of day would change throughout the race too which made the night time section quite scary cause you’d have already went through like 15 minutes of racing and now needed to deal with that unique challenge on top of your fatigue (even more so if this wasn’t your first attempt)

MrScottyTay,

I occasionally still buy physical on the few day one releases I get because somehow getting that delivered to my house can be £5 cheaper or more

MrScottyTay,

But don’t you like see images of it when you go the page to install it?

MrScottyTay,

It’s designed from the ground up for the haptics though, it ain’t going to break it.

MrScottyTay,

Bit over ambitious with that last line aren’t you?

MrScottyTay,

Sadly i don’t think the general movie industry cares about video games and their audiences. Otherwise we’d have more consistently decent adaptations.

MrScottyTay,

I think it uses the step counter service on your phone. It does not need to be running in the background.

MrScottyTay,

It gets the step count from the device itself so it does not need to be running at all times to track it. I think it just keeps track of what the number was the last time you opened it and what the number is the next time you open it and it awards you the difference.

What category is games like Life is Strange and Until Dawn? angielski

So both Life is Strange and Until Dawn have what’s called the butterfly effect something that’s kind of a questionable concept at best but it’s somewhat real. Telltale was famous for games like this as well. But yeah it’s like depending on your actions it can change the story and thus play more like a movie with a...

MrScottyTay,

They’re basically an evolution of the point and click adventure. This variation is often just called a narrative game or other similar sounding names. Searching for “games like telltale” should give you a good list.

Telltale were the ones that evolved the point and click into the form it takes now just so you know. Supermassive (until dawn) made their take on the genre feel more cinematic and more like watching a movie with choices but they’re ultimately still using the formula that telltale pioneered.

MrScottyTay,

That was more of a survival horror game

Facial Tracking in inZOI Character Studio

I made a quick video on the facial tracking inside the inZOI Character Studio as I thought it was awesome. I was not expecting this level of detail and I'm very much looking forward to the game releasing now!

This is going to blow The Sims 4 out of the water!

@games @the_gamer_tavern

MrScottyTay,

I’m not a big fan of the artstyle (or lack of one) to be honest. Feels emotionless with a side serving of uncanny valley

MrScottyTay,

The tech is pretty crazy like, I’ll give it that

MrScottyTay,

Can the joystick work without the adaptive controller. Would love something like that

Here's what a random person on the internet thought of Medal Of Honor Airborne (lemmy.world) angielski

This game at first presented itself with an earnestness familiar to WW2 media. The game began with a sense of veneration of the real men of the airborne in WW2. There was a constant orchestral score in all the menus and briefing screens to set a mood. There were somber titlecards with quotes from real soldiers of the war. The...

MrScottyTay, (edited )

I always loved the respawning in multiplayer where you started again as another paratrooper coming out of a plane. Wish more games did this.

MrScottyTay,

Oooo. Is this by any chance the ghost of vicarious visions coming back?

MrScottyTay,

The OG numbered bundles were so damn good

MrScottyTay,

Even really old games have T&Cs though, they’re usually just in the installers. They’ve existed for games since at least windows 95

MrScottyTay, (edited )

Good point

I think if the TOS changes on a game you have paid for you should have the right to a refund if you don’t agree with the new one

MrScottyTay,

That’s just how camera controls were best then, they were always horizontally inverted and not many key you change it. If you emulate or play it on pc, you can at least rebind it so its no longer inverted

MrScottyTay,

Nintendo are an anomaly though, they’re not struggling financially and when they do the higher ups take a cut so everything else stays business as normal for the most part and they just keep trucking along comfortably

MrScottyTay,

Just want to let you now that I’ve not had any issues since. Everything’s been working as expected now.
