MrScottyTay,

Yeah I’m currently playing the DS at the moment after getting a DSi recently. Trying to play some that I didn’t know about as a kid like Hotel Dusk

MrScottyTay,

Which is more inspired by rather than a full on sequel from what I’ve heard.

MrScottyTay,

Half life 1 just got a new big update that makes it much better to play this day and age and fixed a bunch of bugs. Either way you could skip 1. As a kid I never played 1 and went straight into 2, then 2 episodes 1 and 2 with the orange box. I still haven’t finished 1 but with this new update I think I’ll go back to it some point soon now.

MrScottyTay,

Game pass for games on the cheap i imagine.

MrScottyTay,

Having to be online and with a good internet connection is not well suited for a handheld though, in my opinion.

MrScottyTay,

I like watching it. But i like to see the faves I played throughout the year get recognition and hear a little bit from the Devs when they receive the awards. Announcements are a bonus for me. Plus I prefer to watch things fully even if they had already passed rather than just looking up the winners (in the case of the game awards). It would be like being into a sport but just looking up the results the next morning instead. I prefer to watch the full game unknowing of the outcome, and I take that mentality with me with both award shows (that i care about) and even Nintendo directs and it’s counterparts (which admittedly the game awards is half of)

MrScottyTay,

So isn’t this like what stadia wanted to do with its integration with YouTube where you could watch someone’s letsplay and there’d be a button that could take you to where they were so you can experience it or see if you can do better?

How were they able to patent it if something like this was already described by another company years ago?

MrScottyTay,

There’s too many games in the world that I want to play and I like to change it up in terms of what kinds of games in playing, and often have different games on the go at the same time on different platforms to keep up with my adhd. I really appreciate short games that give me a full experience without overstaying it’s welcome. Very few games can keep me going 30+ hours in, they have to either be REALLY good, the most fun I’ve had in ages or a truly gripping storyline with fantastic pacing, especially if it’s an RPG expecting 100+ hours.

Some busywork in games is fine as long as it’s not overdone. the insomniac Spider-Man games come to mind with that. Traversal and combat are fun enough to carry those games through any lull it may have that it actually makes going around ticking stuff off the map genuinely fun for me. And usually I hate it when games just fill a map with icons of things for you to do. It helps that its world isn’t THAT big compared to the likes of farcry, at least relatively to how fast you can traverse it.

MrScottyTay,

I wonder if the technology they’re waiting for is a more powerful arm processor?

MrScottyTay,

Did your uncle at valve spill the beans?

MrScottyTay,

I think it’s well in valves wheelhouse after proton to do something similar and revolutionise x86 to ARM translation. But at the moment better chips still need to arrive for that too be good enough for a product to built around. Which is why it’s the first thing i think of when they say they need technology to advance more before they make a new steam deck.

MrScottyTay,

Microsoft and Apple have some form of x86 to Arm translation at the moment. Also I know it’s not something that’s really done now. I’m not arguing it can be done right this second cause valve are talking about that there’s something they want to do but can’t yet and need technology to get a bit better before they move on with their plan. I’m saying this feels like the most logical thing that they’re waiting for.

MrScottyTay,

Then maybe those chips that would help with that process is what they’re waiting for then.

DmC - the reboot one. I could never fully get into the original series (i do like em), but this reboot really grabbed me. I loved the music and the atmosphere. I also liked the whole limbo aspect. I wish we got to see more of this version, the end got me excited to see what could come next. But then they went back with dmc 5 which was so critically acclaimed that they’ll likely never look back again, for better and for worse.

MrScottyTay,

I think people blow that sort of stuff out of proportion. She was meant to just be utter vile. Not every character has to be quoting Shakespeare or dante (of the inferno)

What did you think of Sea of Stars? angielski

I thought that it was overall good fun. The battle system is excellent and the music is great. The characters are cool and generally quite enjoyable. However, the standard ending of the game really annoyed me. It’s totally anti-climactic. I really don’t want to go back and do a bunch of side quests (collectathon in...

MrScottyTay,

I absolutely loved it. Looked forward to every session playing it. I wish it lasted a little bit longer before it forced you to collect everything to get a true ending which I haven’t done yet. And the fact you have to collect everything is a bit of a bummer. Didn’t really feel like going on a scavenger hunt. I enjoyed searching for that stuff while playing but didn’t really want to do it with that being the only thing available to do now.

MrScottyTay,

I wish there were more premium games didn’t have egregious ads or micro transactions and respected your time. I pretty much dismiss all free to play games on mobile.

Play Pass is a god send for playing mobile games if you care enough to do so. Not only do you just get a whole bunch of premium games, it also removes ads and microtransactions in a good chunk of free to play games as well (but that usually puts the game balance out of whack - but that also accentuates how shitty some of those games are, being designed fully around them)

Find a hobby to do on the side that you can use, maybe something with progression so you have something to focus on and track progress to keep you wanting to do that and not just stick to playing games. Something like drawing, learning an instrument, maybe even exercise, whether it be standard gym stuff or something else like skating or bouldering. If you still want to stick around a computer for whatever reason, maybe learn to code? Having a creative outlet will help loads to keep you from games if you have troubles endlessly playing them because you start getting the creative itches that makes you want to get something done related to that hobby, instead of just procrastinating.

MrScottyTay,

KOTOR 2, Kingdom Hearts BBS, Halo 3 (mostly the memories of multiplayer though)

Also ask me this on a different day and I’m likely to give you a different response.

MrScottyTay,

I’m pretty sure it’s still unity. The original announcement trailer was rendered using unreal though.

MrScottyTay,

The Final Fantasy VII and Kingdom Hearts series have my absolute favourite soundtracks

Others that stay rent free in my head are Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck in World of Illusion, halo 3, odst and reach, theme hospital, sonic 1, 2, Ape Escape and Gain Ground

MrScottyTay,

The series died with Desmond. They were building up to something in the present day and then just fucked it all off with no payoff. And then proceeded to not replace it with anything. Where’s the ongoing storyline to hook me in to continue playing? 4’s playtester double agent was cool for a little bit but not enough to keep me interested and they never got it to a point where I wanted to know more after the credits rolled. The series ended for me there, when they confirmed Desmond was just a brain in a jar now, fuelling abstergo’s games.

MrScottyTay,

Adventure Quest, Habbo Hotel, Coke Studios and Tribal Wars

MrScottyTay,

Square do currently make the best mmo, but that’s not the team that worked on avengers, not even in the same continent. Plus avengers was not meant to be an mmo but a live service like destiny. I will not cry when they eventually disappear.

MrScottyTay,

I really wanted at least 2 player splitscreen to work on both mcc and infinite on pc, I’d love to play it with my girlfriend but it’s dumb if she has to not only buy the game again and play on a tiny screen next to me while i play on the big screen (i use my pc a HTPC in a gaming room, more like a console than a PC)

MrScottyTay,

Infinite and MCC definitely do not have split screen on PC. Only on console. Although I’d love to be corrected on this.

MrScottyTay, (edited )

As the series goes on I prefer them more and more till you get to Underground, Im not the biggest fan of Underground 2 but I like American Wasteland just as much as Underground 1. After that I fell off due to preferring Skate.

4 is my favourite of the pro skaters, if you don’t count the new 1+2.

MrScottyTay,

Are you referring to FF7 remake’s? Because you definitely get more out of it if you’ve played the previous games and watched the movie since it’s quite literally a sequel to them. I really enjoy their approach to it.

I’m not saying RE4’s isn’t the case either. I just don’t think it’s a one or the other kind of scenario and they’re a little different as to why as well.

MrScottyTay, (edited )

I really wish there was still a market for new modern CRTs I’d have loved to have seen how that technology would’ve matured further

MrScottyTay,

I’m still on the generation prior to the ones that can benefit from DLSS

MrScottyTay,

Ps5s next model is reportedly going the external disc drive route

MrScottyTay,

Think like Nintendo’s HD rumble. There’s certain patterns it can do that make it sound like… sound. In Golf Story for example, the hits with the club, with the hd rumble on, you can perfectly hear the skins of hitting a club even with the audio of the game down. It’s strange and great at the same time. The steam controller also used it for those turn on, turn off jingles you could have on, they also sound great.

The next Sims game will be free-to-play with paid DLC (www.rockpapershotgun.com) angielski

The next Sims game currently goes under the name Project Rene rather than The Sims 5, but that aside, we know a growing amount about EA Maxis' next social simulation. During today's latest Behind The Sims community update, they shared more, including the news that the next entry in the series would be free-to-play and without...

MrScottyTay,

Looks like a porn game without the porn

MrScottyTay,

Wait you think danganronpa fucks up it’s third act? I was absolutely hooked from start to finish for danganronpa 1 and 2. Not yet had the time to play 3 properly yet though but I’ve looked what I’ve played so far.

MrScottyTay,

I’m still confused, do you genuinely think the first game has a shitty third act?

MrScottyTay,

The People Make Games interview is interesting too

Super Mario Wonder's online multiplayer may be disappointing, but we have already witnessed that the alternative would be far worse. angielski

For those that didn’t catch the last Direct, Super Mario Wonder has announced that it will feature two different kinds of online multiplayer, both very different to local multiplayer - one where you can see “ghosts” of other players currently online on a given level, which can’t interact with you directly but can give...

MrScottyTay,

I think the multiplayer aspect looks interesting but also not completely for me. It won’t get me to buy NSO. But if I get it briefly for some splatoon or Mario kart then I’ll probably dabble in it on Mario wonder too.

MrScottyTay,

I might be wrong but I think it has a different translation script

MrScottyTay,

Could’ve been a mutual decision. They may have taken the hot because they were already thinking of leaving at some point anyway. That sort of thing happens sometimes.

MrScottyTay,

It wasn’t tied to the sequels it was tied to the high republic, the main star wars park is set during the sequels.

MrScottyTay,

Yeah just looked it up, it was definitely set during the sequels. I’m sure during it’s initial announcement it was meant to be high republic. The ship is even a famous one that features in a few high republic content.

MrScottyTay,

I don’t think decompilations will be the future due to the usually needing a leaked codebase to kick-start them off. It’s very hard to decompile and learn exactly what each function does without the contents and names from the original source code. It’s possible but it takes so long that it’ll never be enough to be the main way to play old games in the future.

MrScottyTay,

But considering the amount of games that exist that is never going to be the primary ways to play older games. It’s great for those that end up getting that prices done for them but it’s only going to be the odd few that end up becoming a passion project for some super fans with the ability to do so.
