As always, amazing content. Thank you for your reporting!

Oh you’re way too kind!

I’m glad it’s okay, I feel like this one was a bit light on everything, but I promise my next will pick up the slack :P

fossphi, do games w Suggestions for mouse only games?

Getting over it with Bennett Foddy.

It’s a challenging but deeply emotional game. You only need to use the mouse to climb the character up.

donuts,

I guess uncontrollable rage is an emotion!

fossphi,

Fair enough! But there’s some epic narration done, too. Quite soothing at times

Contentedness,

Oh cool that’s the kind of thing I wouldn’t usually play but reckon I’ll have time to enjoy over the next couple weeks. Great suggestion!

fossphi,

Yeah, it is quite an unusual kind of game. But I’d be happy to read about your thoughts if you play it! :)

Landless2029, (edited ) do gaming w My primary use of portable consoles has been lounging around the house.

I bought my steam deck for my first vacation out of state. 6 hour flight.

You better be damn sure I played games on the flight.

Played for 3-4 hours on each flight. Then set it up on my TVs at home. Docking stations on living room and bedroom TVs. Move it as needed.

I don’t touch it often, but it’s there when I want/need it.
Last played when I had the flu.

I mean tbf the majority of the time I use my Deck is on the train.

Taco2112,

Yeah, I use it mostly while traveling. It might come out a few times at the destination if I’m traveling for work or to my hometown but thankfully it never really comes out when I’m actually on vacation.

WolfLink,

I have a Switch I play mostly on trains and airplanes.

nl4real, do games w 6* months away now. If you're on 10, do you plan to upgrade? Make the jump to Linux?

Already switched the laptop over to Mint. Desktop to follow.

secret300, do games w 6* months away now. If you're on 10, do you plan to upgrade? Make the jump to Linux?

Been using Linux for years and the only issue with it is the incompetence of big studios. And them going out of their way to make sure stuff doesn’t work on Linux.

I keep recommending BazziteOS but Jorge Castro over at the universal Blue project has a really good point “Most people don’t install their operating systems” and that plain fact is what stops people from moving to Linux.

Valve has momentum because they are selling you a system with the OS already on it. Sell more gaming PCs with pre installed Linux on it and the support will follow. Valve’s first attempt at getting Linux based gaming hardware out there failed but that didn’t stop them and the real push is coming this time.

If you do install your OS (most people here have once or twice), try Bazzite out. I’m running it on the minisforum Bd790i with a radeon 7800xt and it works great!

Cris16228, (edited ) do games w I really need these games ported to Steam. What do y'all have on your lists?
  1. Astrobot: Yeah I know is exclusive because PlayStation BUT I would love to play it on PC ¯_(ツ)_/¯
  2. Infamous: Second son: Loved in when I watched a gameplay but it’s a share it was never released on PC
  3. All the Pokémon games? Never happening tho
fargeol, do games w Are there any games you don't play as it was intended to be played? If so, what game and how?
@fargeol@lemmy.world avatar

I did that with RTS like Starcraft or Age of Empires II. I would just build a city, develop every upgrade, build good defenses and basically play it like Sim City

illi, do games w Silksong announced for 2025 on the Nintendo Direct

Wasn’t it among the games shown somewhere where they staded all games shown will be “releasing within a year” well over a year ago?

Carnelian,

Xbox did that I think in like 2022-2023

illi,

I believe that’s what I was thinking of, thanks

Abnorc,

Yeah that’s why I doubt this. It’s the same thing we heard before. I’d love to be wrong though!

Carnelian,

Nah it’s totally different this time around.

For starters Leth acknowledged Nintendo’s tweet about it by retweeting it, and setting his profile background to the new key art (which was provided by TC themselves)

TC also provided four new screenshots of the game to Nintendo as part of a press kit.

The xbox situation was literally never acknowledged by them at all, except for when Leth ultimately posted that it wasn’t happening lol. Apparently just based on estimates that TC had communicated with them privately, and only ever “confirmed” by a single social media person at Microsoft

This isn’t some random Nintendo direct, but rather THE big event for their big console. And also officially and immediately supported by TC this time around. This is 100% an intentional press rollout

mesamunefire, do games w Steam Deck / Gaming News #8

You can't go wrong with supergiant. Their music and games are awesome. Hades 2 works great on the SD.

wcSyndrome,

Love to see the transistor rec in 2025

DigDoug, do games w GOG seems to be considering paid membership option

I like what GOG do, but gating features, even niche ones, behind a subscription sounds like the first step towards enshittification.

Also, I’m sure as hell not giving them extra money until they fix their platform on Linux/Steam Deck.

recall519, do games w GOG seems to be considering paid membership option

How about GOG Galaxy on Linux?

atro_city, do games w GOG seems to be considering paid membership option

I wish they worked with opensource projects like Heroic to provide an easy and fast way to run their games on Linux like in Steam. And if they provided a donation option or something to fund that work.

ampersandrew,
@ampersandrew@lemmy.world avatar

They do that already. They’re partnered with Heroic. If you buy GOG games through Heroic, Heroic gets a cut of that sale using a referral code program like you’d see in other stores. It gives Heroic some cash, and it gives GOG a line of sight into exactly how much revenue they’re missing out on by not building the Linux launcher themselves. This is what got me to start buying from GOG again.

atro_city,

Oh shit, really? Do you have a source for that?

ampersandrew,
@ampersandrew@lemmy.world avatar

github.com/Heroic-Games-Launcher/…/v2.13.0

We also started a partnership with GOG and now every game you buy from the GOG store inside Heroic will give us a commission, so it is another way of supporting the project. :)

The link is also available at heroicgameslauncher.com/donate if you prefer to purchase games in your web browser.

atro_city,

Awesome, thank you!

Faydaikin, do gaming w What game do you really want to play, but haven't yet because you feel it in your soul that it will get a remake/remaster soon enough?
@Faydaikin@beehaw.org avatar

I would never hold off on playing a game for a remake/remaster.

I love my oldies.

Same. I just setup RomM and I’m having fun playing snes and arcade games in my browser.
