Fizz, do gaming w Old School RuneScape punishes innovation, prevents player from using their own severed toe to skirt anti-botting rules
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

Osrs players doing anything they can to play the game as afk as possible.

That being said I’m interested in this mining method. What’s the xp per hour?

CMLVI,
@CMLVI@kbin.social avatar

It's only 1.5k/hr more, so short term gains are marginal. But over the course of the skill, you can expect to save roughly 30 hours.

(This is literally all made up, but you have so many extra toes, just try it out) ((Also ignore that they added a tired mechanic so you can't AFK mine it anymore, that'll get reverted. You wanna be ready for when it comes back, detach that sucker))

Fizz,
@Fizz@lemmy.nz avatar

I’m getting rid of all my toes just incase the remove the tired mechanic. Toes are useless to me anyway

rancor,

I read that it’s a 10k/hr method or thereabouts

Yeah, I’m loving AC6, but the design decisions that make the game so much better on the KB+M are actually kind of baffling from a console-first company like FROM. I played the hell out of the AC1 games back in the day and while that series’ aiming controls were a joke, the fact that you cycled through your ranged weapons instead of having all 3 accessible at the same time, combined with the fact that the game used only one button for “boost” which covered both jumping and dodging, meant the weapons and boosting actions fit nicely on the 4 face-buttons. Now, AC1’s weapons were very flawed in that there was often minimal reason to cycle through them - they didn’t generally have cooldowns or meters so putting a weapon away wasn’t super useful. Best strategy was a 1-weapon mech, generally. But still, the simpler controls were a lot more pleasant on a game controller.

And author is quite right about how rotation rate has grossly changed the game’s strategy and feel. For example, if somebody got behind you in old AC, the strategy was to get to cover while you ponderously rotate, or to burn energy like a fiend boosting backwards to get them into your cone of fire.

Not that I dislike AC6 - I love the game - but I hope this renewed interest in the AC series will lead us to a simplified spin-off or copycat 3rd-party game that properly fits onto the controller.

I just think there was some good gameplay lost.

But yeah, I’m playing it on KB+mouse, and I’m a PC gamer primarily.

Belgdore,

Have you played daemon x machina?

Pxtl,
@Pxtl@lemmy.ca avatar

Yes. Hated it. The flying mechanics were joyless, the plot was tedious, the weaker enemy units were harmless filler, and there were too many overly-scripted fights.

Carighan, do gaming w Epos Gaming to 'wind down' but all employees have already lost their jobs
@Carighan@lemmy.world avatar

I’ll be honest, I had never even heard the name. Neither of the company, nor of any of their products. Still sucks for the employees of course, the current downturn is huge and as it accelerates and more and more investors pull out, the money the C-suites care about disappears and they panic even more about their bonuses so they fire and shutter even harder.

The made-up money that is the stock market can sadly have very real effects on employees’ livelihoods. :( But of course not on the CEOs who happily cash their 6-/7-digit base salary and then just fuck off to the next company they can drive into the ground.

That ending scene is used in at least one other circumstance:

spoilerif you kill the emperor at the start of Act 3 inside the astral prism

It’s probably just a generic scene for miscellaneous unwinnable game states.

Wogi,

Your spoiler tag isn’t spoiler tagged.

Also I saw that cutscenes once before making it as far as you describe, I don’t even remember how, pretty sure it was midway through act 2. But it’s definitely a semi generic cutscene for when you lose in a particular type of way.

MimicJar,

I got it during the Act 2-3 transition. I had a fight that had to end in 3 or so turns and I didn’t make it.

Wogi,

That’s where it got me. I remember now

Hoomod,

I don’t think you can use line breaks with the spoiler markdown

My ideal Star Trek game would be a first-person immersive sim where I can just be a random citizen in the galaxy and just… Live there. Maybe I join Star Fleet. Maybe I join the Marquis. Or I could be a Klingon or a Borg, or one of the Dominion’s warrior slave dudes addicted to drugs.

Sadly, this may mean the days of homebrew programming for the 2600 are at an end. AtariAge is where all those programmers sold their wares, along with homebrews for other platforms like Intellivision and ColecoVision. I’ll have to head back over there for the first time in a while to see what they say about it.

Current Atari is only Atari in name, they’re a completely different company.

geosoco,

From a hardware perspective, that's been true since just after the 1983 crash, when it was sold to Jack Tramiel's company -- even before the Lynx and Jaguar. The software side was split into Atari games which has an even longer history of being passed around.

Quentinp, do gaming w Starfield NPCs keep getting bodied mid-sentence and it never isn't funny to me

Sniping pirates and leaving them sitting in odd poses is oddly sad. Sometimes they freeze in place sitting on a couch or whatever. Low G has some weird stuff going on when you kill someone too, although watching dead bodies slowly float down is a neat touch.

    Bethesda didn’t evolve over the past 10 years. They just added some ambient occlusion and increased the resolution of their textures. The game engine was OK when when Skyrim came out, but it’s really kind of embarrassing that the exact same issues still remain in 2023.
