rDrDr, (edited ) do games w Todd Howard asked on-air why Bethesda didn't optimise Starfield for PC: 'We did [...] you may need to upgrade your PC'

It’s perfectly optimized. I’m getting a rock solid 30fps. /s

Seriously though, I think it’s fine. Especially indoors and in space, it performs well and looks incredible. New Atlantis is kinda ugly and janky though.

Roundcat, do games w Baldur's Gate 3 has ruined Starfield for me

Bethesda ruined Starfield for me.

original_reader, do gaming w Bethesda says most of Starfield's 1000+ planets are dull on purpose

It’s not a bug. It’s a feature.

What’s that quote from originally? I’ve always assumed it was Todd but now that I think about it I’ve never seen anything that would prove it, I supposed I’ve always just associated it with bethesda games lol.

DmMacniel,

It’s just a general software development joke. Eventually your customers will rely on that bug, because thats how it works right? So you can´t fix it later as it would break workflows thus that bug becomes a feature.

ZoopZeZoop, do games w Stardew Valley creator ignites new fan theories with five simple words: 'Here's a Haunted Chocolatier screen'

I’m 40 now. If I have to wait until I’m 50 for CA to feel like it is good enough for release, I’m fine with that. SDV was and still is a beautiful game that I will come back to regularly, like Terraria. Just good fun.

justdoit, do gaming w Elon Musk appearance at Valorant Champions tournament met with boos, crowd chanting 'bring back Twitter'

I long so desperately for the days when I didn’t know who Elon Musk was

Gordon_Freeman,
@Gordon_Freeman@kbin.social avatar

I support censoring all news related to Elon and his companies

justdoit,

I was kinda hoping the enoughmuskspam community would be focused on talking about innovative tech/engineering work happening at other companies. I guess that’s more the point of “futurology”, but still…

But, enoughmuskspam is just… Musk spam

TwilightVulpine,

I'm not surprised a community with a person's name in the title focuses on them. It's like saying "don't think of a pink elephant"

hansl,

It’s meant as a black hole of Musk spam posts. A way for other communities to just say “we’re banning any news about Musk, post those in EMS”.

I guess technology didn’t get the memo.

bbplay13,

His companies are fine. (minus Twitter) SpaceX and Tesla are great he just needs to keep his fucking mouth shut and do his job. The man is cringe and is taking his billionaire status too hard.

traveler, do gaming w Baldur's Gate 3 used motion capture from 248 actors to bring its NPCs to life: 'You’re not only hearing the actors' voices, but you’re also seeing their physical performances'

I need to get this game so bad. Probably going to get it to PS5. Should be fine right? 😇

WildlyCanadian,
@WildlyCanadian@lemmy.ca avatar

My bet is it’ll be great on PS5. People are already saying controller support is really well implemented on PC, and it runs really nicely on a range of hardware

traveler,

It’s going to release in September, so I’m just waiting for it to be released on Ps5 😅

nromdotcom,

Yeah, my plan is PS5, too. I was worried because been playing these games on PC almost literally my whole life, from BG1 and IWD through to PoEII and DOSII. But I don’t have a PC that can play any sorts of games right now, so it’s gonna have to be PS5.

Watching a few let’s plays and streams, it sounds like controller support is solid. So despite not being what I’m used to, I’m confident it’ll be a solid experience.

traveler,

I do have the PC but I do find playing on a console better for my current lifestyle.

Popcap - tons of mobile games

Respawn - Alex legends, Titanfall (ex call of duty developers)

Codemasters - lots of racing games

TemplaerDude, do games w Last Epoch players turn on the action RPG for announcing a paid DLC class, tanking its Steam reviews: 'go play Path of Exile instead'

Hoping to cover costs solely from cosmetics is a pie-in-the-sky fancy and they knew that, the only way that works is if your game blows up in the way that only those rare, 0.01% of games do. Saying they expected that to work out was some fucking bullshit. I sympathize with their plight, it’s obvious that if the options are sell DLC or shut down the studio, you sell DLC, but it shouldn’t have happened like this.

They were dishonest at worst or brutally naive at best from the start. I’m willing to accept that latter simply because these were originally Reddit people who wanted to make their own mark on the genre, but it’s still inexcusable. I have zero involvement in the industry and I could tell you that was not gonna work out.

smeg, do games w Classic text adventure Zork is going open source, but I'm side-eyeing Microsoft's announcement about it hard

Did we really need an article saying “I think this other bit of text might be written by a robot”? Of all the things you criticise Microsoft for, that’s the one to go for? Or perhaps it’s the other side of the coin, Microsoft unusually did something quite nice so the author had to find something about it to criticise?

skisnow, (edited ) do games w Game marketing company takes down blog post bragging about how good it is at astroturfing Reddit after Reddit finds the post
