8 years for scaring Vladimir with your words, you naughty boy

“Fortunately for Glukhovsky, he is not actually in Russia, and was sentenced in absentia. His current whereabouts are unknown.”

Literally the last sentence lol thankfully, he’s not in Russia.

Yes that is good to hear! Hopefully they never find him

iltoroargento,
@iltoroargento@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

Agreed. He shouldn’t have to hide, either, but that’s not where we are, apparently.

whataboutshutup,

He only needs to never come back, and for him it’s easy. It’s not yet that stage when they smuggle people back, rn they just clean up cultural landscape from ‘traitors’ to make it 100% sterile. Music scene is already like that.

jayandp,

What a relief. He must’ve dipped as soon as he saw where things were headed in Russia. I wonder where he got asylum? But at the same time I hope I never find out, for his sake.

Anybody remember the mods for this where you had a gun that would dispense bricks so you could build stuff? There was also a mini-nuke mod that you could use to blow up said constructions. It was one of my favorite things to do in Quake II and would often result in my computer crashing because it couldn’t handle all the collision physics.

scytale, do games w The 26-year-old Quake 2 just got the remaster of my dreams, plus a big expansion

As someone who hasn’t played games for more than 15 years now, this makes me want to play again for the nostalgia; but I dont know where to start. I only have a macbook and an old laptop running linux. Will the remaster work on any of those? Is Steam the best way to install it?

glue_snorter,

Check out Asahi Linux on mac. Your mac is likely a better gaming machine.

AProfessional,

Asahi is barely functional, it is cool and could be amazing years from now though.

Action Quake 2 remastered?

GrayBackgroundMusic, do gaming w Escape Simulator gets official Portal DLC

Never heard of Escape Simulator, but looks like I’m about to give it a shot. Portal is literally top 5 game for me.

Does it have a “software rendering” looking mode?

I always thought games of this era looked better in software rendering vs those n64 esque shaders

I used to love Quake II, I’m definitely installing since I own it on Steam.

Lost count of the amount of time I spent playing Q3 Arena though… Damn that was sweet.

sayitghoul,

Same here. Quake 3 railgun only on TDM17. Still play it sometimes for fun. I used to be crazy good at it, not so much anymore unfortunately 😞

GammaGames, do gaming w Escape Simulator gets official Portal DLC

I’m intrigued, the trailer looks fun enough. I wonder if there’s a VR mod?

SmoochyPit,

Escape Simulator VR was announced for later this year; I assume it’ll support all of the DLCs and community maps too.

It really feels like a game from the bioware of Dragon Age: Origins, I’m loving it so far.

Might be a while if what I’m hearing is true… The Xbox Series S can’t handle couch co-op, and while it runs fine on the Series X, Microsoft demands feature parity. :(

ign.com/…/microsoft-engineers-helping-get-baldurs…

We always suspected the S would hold things back, here’s proof. :( I hope Microsoft comes out with a discless version of the X and just drops the S.

stopthatgirl7,
!deleted7120 avatar

Either that, or they’ve got to lessen their requirements for parity.

winety,
@winety@communick.news avatar

Yeah. I’ve heard that. I’m glad Microsoft made the Series S; I own one and it’s my gate to modern gaming, as I don’t have enough money for a good computer nor Series X. It’s a nifty little machine. Obviously, I don’t want Microsoft to lower the parity requirements nor — shudder to think — discontinue the Series S. At the same time, I would really like to play BG3. Difficult times. I guess lowering the parity requirements would be the preferred option.

I wonder how many people actually play the Larian RPGs in multiplayer and what percentage of them uses couch coop. Personally, I can’t really see playing a long cRPG with someone else.

My wife is a diablo fiend and I think she’d make a good transition to a “real” RPG. We’ll see in September!

Awesome. Now if someone asks if I’ve played BG3, I can sardonically reply, "Isn’t that the game with the bear sex in it?
