Most Source engine game trailers, like Half-Life 2, are “pre-rendered”. If you record a sequence of gameplay as a “demo” (kb-level file that records player movement in a level) then you can record that demo into a video at a much slower rate than the gameplay, capturing every frame; as well as add camera motions to it. There are guides for individuals to do this using the “startmovie” command.
It’s just a logical way to ensure the video is seamlessly presented, especially since framerate optimization comes late in development.
I mean it’d be like Nintendo suing Cassette Beasts.
I think GameFreak has sat in its own shit too long.
These indies are coming right up their ass with ideas that were just waiting for the Pokémon IP and now GameFreak can’t touch them. (The ideas not the lawsuits)
MAGI MOTHERFUCKING NATION
It had every right to take over the monster catching market back in the early 2000s. Cartoon, GBC game, trading card game, they had it all, and they wrapped it in a super cool dark comic fantasy setting with actual plot and raised the target audience by a couple years to grow along with the kids who were all crazy about Pokémon.
Well, the trading card game just had a successful crowdfunding campaign and THIS GUY just bought a bunch of the old cards to introduce my kids to the world.
I do recall Nintendo, in the most polite and businesslike way possible, telling its incessant dickriders to stop flooding its communication channels with the breaking news that someone made a game with a Pokemon-adjacent concept.
Nickmercs has always been a piece of shit. I feel like he's only ever stepped up to bat for his friends when they've actually done some heinous shit, so seeing his defense of Doc only further confirms my belief that he did it.
Nickmercs' support is an unexpected canary in this coal mine.
It’s like when people that cheat on others in their relationships start accusing their partners of cheating or have major trust issues because of their guilt (or whatever it is). And by that same logic I conclude that Nickmercs is a pedo (if he can do it with the LGBTQ community without evidence then he wouldn’t mind me making similarly wild claims about him, right?).
These shock jock types always seem to nuke themselves in the end. That guy looks like the weekly bad guy on a episode of Starsky and Hutch from the 70’s

You’re not wrong, but that’s also just a persona he plays, the hair and mustache are both fake. I don’t know how close the persona is to the real person, but I’m sure he’s hamming it up to some extent, just not enough to be a good person pretending.
The persona is barely fake, which is why he always rubbed me the wrong way. Like yeah a hyper macho gamer can be a funny ironic persona, but when you’re legitimately Gamer Raging TM on stream, you’re just doing the thing. Not surprised he turned out to be a piece of shit a while ago. Mildly surprised he was a pedo, though I didn’t notice his right-wing tendencies so that’s on me.
If that were true, ‘No’ is also an answer. Total Annihilation does not seem like the only option and certainly not an option to use as a lesson. Can’t teach a dead pupil.
Until they give a “better” reason, I am going to assume the one they hinted at is true, and Microsoft just decided that it was worthless because it wasn’t “Mikami’s studio” anymore. Honestly, I already suspected it.
In which case, fuck them. These games were not made by one person, a studio is bigger than its director. And the rest of them didn’t get even one chance to prove themselves.
Truly shows how little they value the people who make their games.
