CaptainBasculin, (edited ) do games w My wacky Stanly Parable-inspored game called DO NOT PRESS THE BUTTON (To Delete The Multiverse) finally reached 5000+ wishlists today!

Just a tip as an indie dev. Some people could reach out to you to promote your games, defining themselves as curators, promoters and the sort. Check their history; abstain from handing multiple Steam keys for free. These keys could end up in third party markets (like g2a, kinguin) , reducing actual sales for your games. Check their legitimacy first.

Road_Warrior_10,

Thank you! Do you mean hear on Lemmy?

CaptainBasculin,

Not specifically on Lemmy, but basically any way you could be contacted as the developer of the game

This video explains it from the perspective of someone that found their keys given resold on other platforms:

Shit, this is a cool idea. I might have to steal this.

bcoffy, do gaming w Can't believe you actually did all of that

Master Miller in MGS1 tells you to take a break a lot

Albbi,

The Colonel goes f’ing nuts at the end of MGS2 and tells you to turn the game console off.

It was 3am when I got there and I was sick with Mono. I turned it off.

This specifically is an easter egg ending in Chrono Trigger, requiring you to have beaten the game once before to access it.

Chrono Trigger allows you to warp to the final boss and try to beat them before you would reach them through the plot, from very early on in the game. A lot of the special endings require you to do that and win at various points in the story, which isn’t possible for most of the game unless you carry over stuff with new game plus.

I believe this ending requires you to start new game plus and then take the warp to fight the final boss as soon as you possibly can.

Don’t quote me on that though, the game has something like 13 endings and I canct keep them all straight.

Tar_alcaran,

My favorite one is where you beat Lavos the first time you see it, and the game goes “since you’re in such a hurry, here’s the credits at 10x speed”.

If your horror game doesn’t do this, it loses points in my eyes. I want a final chapter that makes me think “Damn, he really is The Evil Within™”

Renacles,

The Evil Within was so close, they called it An Evil Within instead.

rickyrigatoni,

That was a hint at a sequel, since An implies more than one.

That’s why you stock up on 1ups using the end-of-level cards. Make sure you’re running with a full P-meter when it comes on-screen and hit the left-hand side and it’ll be a star every time.

I always loved that this mechanic existed, because the flying jingly leap into the box was always a wonderfully satisfying way to end each level.

Some old games are literally life-like in my memories untill I replayed it recently.

Nice screenshot. One thing this game did get right from day 1 was the art style.

I actually cannot figure out whether or not I agree with this 😅 I don’t’ fully like it, and I feel like it holds the game to a feel that’s… Idunno, simpler than I’d like? On the other paw, it probably fits well, I guess.

brsrklf,

It had a few graphical upgrades through the huge content updates it got year after year.

Now there is more biome diversity, more decorative flora, better underground environments, more creature types…

If anything, they tried so much to populate it that sometimes I feel it’s lacking some truly desolate environments. “Empty” planets are uncommon, and even those are mostly cluttered with weird stuff and “anomalous” living things.

The new Worlds Part 1 update that got shown the other day looks genuinely exciting. I still need to download it too play it but the new planet generation and stuff that got shown off was gorgeous

brsrklf, (edited )

Yah, I haven’t tried latest update yet. Problem with NMS is that it’s a bit daunting diving into it again and again, I don’t like returning to month-old saves and starting from the beginning takes ages. Especially that with all the content updates, you get a dozen simultaneous quests jumping at you at first occasion.

I’m still doing expeditions, and that in itself is already a ridiculous commitment IMO. I wish we could just do them at our own pace, the time limit is baffling. I noticed that last expedition literally 2 days before it ended, I got everything, but it was a freaking race to get there.

I still haven’t gotten a chance to dive into expeditions fully. I really need to catch up

Why is Silvester Stallone in a wrestling game?

Psythik, do gaming w Photorealism

Reminds me of when ESRB used to distinguish between “cartoon violence” and “realistic violence”, in the freaking 90s. Meanwhile it’s 30 years later and we still don’t have photorealistic graphics. (Unrecord comes close, but that’s not even out yet and it’s still not indistinguishable from reality.)
