And now that you’re going to cancel, you will be left with nothing. If you had taken the hundreds of dollars you spent on GamePass and just bought the games instead, you would have still had a library of games you own.
I’ve also done the math a few times and every time the cost of GamePass was higher than the amount of money I would’ve saved in that same timeframe.
The only way I could’ve saved money would’ve been to not purchase any games not on GamePass and limit myself to (worse) games included in the subscription.
So if I, someone who purchases and subsequently abandons a lot of game, so basically the target audience, can’t make GamePass work, I wonder how many people just run on copium when they mention how much money they save. Either that, or they treat gaming like junk food and don’t care about quality.
Idk I got plenty of value out of it, I play the vast majority of my games once and never replay them, so using a month of game pass to play 3-4 games and try out a few more to see if they’re worth it is a very good deal. But if you keep repurchasing to play the same few games or only play 1 game a month then yup it’s a horrible deal
I was obsessed with Game Pass during the start of the pandemic. There was a dozen games I wanted and I could get PC Game Pass for like $30 for six months, versus buying a single game for $30.
Then Steam Deck came out and suddenly all my money went back to Steam.
I tried it and canceled it the moment the games I actually played started randomly disappearing. “Whoops, we only licensed this for a couple of months. You can still pay even more to ‘buy’ it, though. We might also re-license it later on, but who knows? Also, enjoy this absolute corporate trash we will shove into your face constantly!” No thanks.
So in other words, you pay more and unless you’re on the highest tier, they take away the one thing that made Game Pass worth the money: new games available on day one.
I’m not a fan of subscription models overall but getting a ton of new releases for about what two full price titles per year would cost was a great deal. Not anymore.
And there goes another reason to keep a Windows machine around.
Man, Arkane is not sitting in the position they were before. I’m glad they’re doing this, but I worry that this is only going to get more of their studios shut down.
Much of Arkane is in Europe (specifically France) where workers rights sort of exist. Arkane Austin is already dead as of last year. So it will take a bit of effort for phil spencer et al to kill them.
That said? They also likely already know they are on the chopping block and figure they might as well speak their minds (and get some good will) in the hopes of being able to get funding for whatever comes next.
if they dont’t market it as something related to horizon then what’s the issue? we have millions of clones of various games with different graphics, and so what?
I saw the trailer for that game and laughed my ass off, i legit thought it was a horizon DLC and when I realized it wasn’t, I couldn’t get past the obvious fact that it’s a straight ripoff that barely changed anything
Uhh the game looks awesome from what the trailer shows. I want to play it, and I’m already hyped for it. The combat also looks better than what it was in Horizon 1.
I honestly don’t care if they just copy games like this. I’m too tired of awesome concepts & IPs being completely misused & wasted by game publishers.
I’m hoping Tencent wins this one, because I wanna play the game. If they do win, I bet “Monster Hunter x Horizon + conventionally attractive characters” would sell like hotcakes.
