7112, do games w PlayStation’s first Remote Play dedicated device, PlayStation Portal remote player, to launch later this year at $199.99

This is really weird. You can already remote play on a ton of devices including phones. You can get a phone controller for under $100 and it looks almost the same. Hell, PlayStation even has an official phone dock controller already.

  • How’s the battery life though? If it only lasts for like 3 - 4 hours, then it’s quite a bummer
  • Can the PS5 still output to the TV while using this?
ShortFuse, do games w PlayStation’s first Remote Play dedicated device, PlayStation Portal remote player, to launch later this year at $199.99

It feels very overpriced considering it’s just a streaming device and doesn’t have OLED.

A hacked Switch with PS Remote Play makes more sense. Heck even a PS Vita has OLED and already supports Remote Play from a PS5.

NuXCOM_90Percent, do games w [PlayStation] State of Play returns tomorrow (3pm PT/6pm ET US)

I am sure marketing folk have a reason for it but… this really feels like the kind of thing you put alongside the PS5 Pro announcement that the entire planet watched. Rather than leaving everyone wondering “so… why would I buy a ps5 pro?”

simple, do games w [PlayStation] State of Play returns tomorrow (3pm PT/6pm ET US)

I bet they’ll focus hard on the PS5 Pro this showcase to try and win back some people. Excited to see new game announcements though. I wonder if Naughty Dog will have anything new or if they’re still in last of us hell.

realcaseyrollins, do gaming w Concord is going offline beginning September 6th

I know one person IRL who is cresfallen by this news. I don’t know much about this gaming though, how come it never caught on?

GammaGames,

It missed several boats and came out with a sticker price when most of the other games in the same market are free to play

It also released 2 weeks ago, so I can see why they’d be disappointed! It’s apparently a decently fun game and getting support pulled so quickly would be sad

DoucheBagMcSwag,

Plus it didn’t help that one out of the two systems (PS5) requires a paid online subscription

bungle_in_the_jungle, do games w An important update on Concord - Being taken offline September 6th, refunds to be issued

Can’t help but wonder if this would have been a hit if it was F2P rather?

learningduck,

With the amount of marketing it received, I think people would still stick to Valorent or Overwatch 2. I only see videos and posts about Concord being a flop, than promoting it.

Ashtear, do games w Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 devs discuss classic turn-based RPG inspiration and real-time mechanics

I predict some grumbling from the JRPG crowd that just wanted hi-fi visuals in turn-based combat without the reactive combat elements they are discussing here. I have to imagine they’ll make the system flexible enough to appeal to everyone, though. “Turn-based with a little extra” is the new hotness right now, so it’s what will be marketed leading up to the release.

Hoping to see another trailer soon, last one was great!

I still wonder if they will eventually go the other way around, too, and let me use my Quest with the PS5 for things like RE4 VR. Doing the remote play method is jank af.

Oh, great, and I was just about to buy one soon. Whatever, not worth waiting for these models to become widely available!

conciselyverbose, do games w Sony Pictures Core, formerly Bravia Core, launches on PS5 and PS4 consoles; exclusive benefits including early access to select Sony Pictures films

If you’re a PlayStation Plus Premium/Deluxe member, you’ll get access to a curated catalog of up to 100 movies***** through the Sony Pictures Core app to stream on demand from the Sony Pictures library as part of your membership. The catalog, which will be ad-free and updated periodically, features movies such as Looper, Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, Elysium, and Resident Evil Damnation.** There will also be additional benefits for all PlayStation Plus members, so stay tuned for more details.

Still not worth the price increases, but I could see that being a meaningful value add to some.
