Puzzle Pirates!

Grimpen,

I remember playing this back in the nineties, IIRC, and checking it out again 10-15 years ago! It was a fun puzzle oriented game.

Volume is an indie stealth game I’ve quite enjoyed. In addition to the campaign it has a level creator, if you want to try player-made levels.

Monaco: What’s Yours is Mine is a really fun stealthy top-down 2D story game. It support 4P coop. There are several characters with very different abilities allowing for unique ways to tackle the map’s challenges. There is also a scenario editor to create custom challenges.

Anyone got a gem similar to Hypnospace Outlaw? Literally my favorite game since I discovered it.

czeskilager,

loved it as well, caught myself thinking about it very long after playing. i was really impressed with how it captured a feeling of nostalgia for a digital community and for an internet of another time, I think hypnospace Outlaw is something quite relevant for many of us now who moved away from r*ddit

I don’t understand why no one tries to make something akin to Metal Gear Solid. Everyone misses that.

tulwinn, do gaming w What forgotten cult classic games are worth revisiting?

I’m probably alone in remembering this game but I loved Hardwar back in the day. It’s an Elite style trading game set on Titan. The player pilots a ‘moth’ ,a small flying craft, between craters.
It had an interesting story that played out as you explored with areas blocked out, due to events, and made accessible later on.

The developer closed doors but IIRC at least one member of the team released a patch that had been developed later on.

I played it pretty obsessively and it had a small passionate community but it wasn’t a hit.

The Dark Mod of course!

Some other decent ones in my opinion:

  • Styx: Master of Shadows
  • Styx: Shards of Darkness
  • Thief (2014)
  • Aragami
  • Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun (really liked this one)
  • Monaco

I would give both Dishonored and Prey a shot — I had a better time with those than Deathloop.

ViMusic is incredible. I’d drop Spotify premium in a heart beat if the rest of my family weren’t on the same plan. Would be nice to save $15/mo

BF 2042

Instead of BF, I would try out BattleBit. It’s an Indie game that’s very similar to BF and got very popular recently. It’s supposed to be BF but actually good.

This sounds like a fun project! :) I’ve only played one game in this genre, Cave Noire for Game Boy. It has randomly generated dungeons. It’s turn based. There’s no stats to level up, instead the player just has to improve their own gameplay strategy. There’s 40 stages (to put it simply), each getting a little harder. After you beat a stage the game saves and you never have to play that one again. How would you classify it?

Serdan, do gaming w Your favourite depictions of communism in video games

Disco Elysium

Communism may not be built in a day, but 0.0001% completion is still progress!

ZarbtheBard,

Disco Elysium for sure, also the communist vision quest is great.

Workers and Resources is an interesting one. It focuses on the material reality of running a planned economy without internal money supplies. Also a very good city/industry builder.

To me, the base game is hard enough hah I can’t get past the time tower level for the life of me…
