Rhynoplaz,

I wouldn’t post the login for random people to copy and paste. Still do all that other stuff to remove all traces of yourself from the account, but ask around and talk to people and when you find someone you want to offer it to, send it discreetly.

Rhynoplaz,

You’re not wrong at all. On any of your points.

It’s a really difficult console to go back to. The peak of the N64 was one of my personal video game peaks. I was in high school and staying up all night at a buddy’s house playing GoldenEye was the BEST.

Many years later, I tried to scratch that itch and buy a used console and some games. We played it for maybe a week, but it was rough, and we didn’t really get any value out of it.

It’s hard to describe how disorienting Super Mario 3D was the first time I played it. 3D open worlds were very new and we were discovering it in the only way available, with a three handed controller.

Now that 3D games have been refined, the N64 looks like a hot mess, with very few actually good games, but at the time, it was like an experimental space craft going to new worlds, we learned how to work it, and we appreciated the ride!

Rhynoplaz,

Totally agree on load times. That was a major factor in me sticking with Nintendo over PS during that time.

Rhynoplaz,

Stared at it for two minutes and got nothing. Imma try again later.

Rhynoplaz,

♥️🟠🟦🟢 in 1:23! I might be getting the hang of this!

Rhynoplaz,

🟠🟦🟢♥️ for me. My first puzzle! Thanks again for the rec!

Rhynoplaz,

I kept thinking names of movies, that obviously got me nowhere.

Rhynoplaz,

Same here. I feel like I’ll have better odds in the future now that I’m starting to understand what kind of answers they are looking for.

Rhynoplaz,

So, I might be the dumb one here, but what the hell am I looking at?

Rhynoplaz,

Yeah. I’m definitely the dumb one. I have no idea what’s going on.

What are some eras of gaming that you've stopped feeling nostalgic for? (kbin.social) angielski

As I've gotten older as a player, I have found myself dropping some eras of gaming that I used to be nostalgic for. One of them is the 8-bit era, the NES days. I have played some of the best that system had to offer and I will never say that system didn't have any good games....

Rhynoplaz,

I don’t get the hype for Castlevania. I’ve never liked any of them. I also haven’t played one since the SNES.

Rhynoplaz,

Did you get a chance to watch the show on Amazon yet? The kids and I watched the first two episodes last night. So far, it feels like Fallout, and I am not disappointed!

Rhynoplaz,

Mine are teenagers, and that sex scene made me a little nervous at first, but I’m glad they didn’t make it very graphic.

Rhynoplaz,

The only nudity is a male butt, but there is no question that they are having sex. I was comfortable with my 15&16yo teenagers watching it, but might be awkward with middle schoolers.

Rhynoplaz,

The Ghoul definitely took the Bloody Mess perk! 😂

Rhynoplaz,

I’m curious if they will go with the mindless ogre version, or the smarter version.

Rhynoplaz,

Yeah.

I agree that Bethesda has done a fine job with it, but I don’t agree that we should pretend that none of the other games ever existed just so you don’t feel left out.

Rhynoplaz,

Oof, the further I read, the worse you sound.

PS, I’m a console gamer who was excited for 3 & 4 BECAUSE of the first two games, and I’m really enjoying the show. Which kind of throws your stereotypes and generalizations out the window. So please stop.

Rhynoplaz,

Drop kick, leg sweep, uppercut, uppercut, uppercut, uppercut, uppercut, flawless victory.

HornofBalance, do games angielski

Horn of Balance - an indie 2D zelda-like

I'm developing 'Horn of Balance', a 2D zelda-like featuring 12 non-linear dungeons, 2 interconnected worlds and a TON of secrets.

Right now, the project is live on Kickstarter (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/hornofbalance/horn-of-balance) and we've almost hit the funding goal with just 24 hours left!

There's also a free demo on Steam (https://store.steampowered.com/app/2738140/Horn_of_Balance/) and Itch.

I'm happy to answer any questions you might have!

@games

Rhynoplaz,

Uh huh. That’s what Palworld said. You got a good lawyer?

Seriously, tracing over A Link to the Past is not “hand drawn”.

Rhynoplaz,

Yeah, that news is more concerning than anything. BG3 was great and they want to recreate that by letting EVERYONE make a D&D game, and I’d bet the developers are just as focused on the BG3 hype money, instead of actually making good games.

Rhynoplaz,

What Remains of Edith Finch. A psychological horror game that REALLY sucks you in. As you play, there is a lot of stuff that doesn’t make any sense, but there’s a secret (disturbing) meaning behind it all.

I spent a good chunk of a Saturday going through it and there’s no need to do it again, but it was a great ride!

Rhynoplaz,

Thanks for pointing that out, I had never heard of that one. I looked it up and I’ll definitely check it out.

Rhynoplaz,

Oh yeah. They aren’t subtle in that one, you know what’s coming and I think I just muttered “oh no. Oh no. Oh no.” through the whole thing.

How Do You Deal With Thumb Stick Drift? (lemmy.world) angielski

So I like to use Xbox controllers (doesn’t matter if it’s first- or third-party) because I like the layout, it’s just comfortable to me. However I’ve noticed that on all my controllers in the past few years, the left thumb stick will start to “give out” over the course of a couple months. For instance I’ll be...

Rhynoplaz,

I used to think that Xbox controllers ALWAYS drift within a year.

Then I started keeping a secret controller away from the kids. It lasted years with no drift. I got a new one and let the kids use my old one… Drift in a month.

It’s not the controllers. You just drop it too much.

Rhynoplaz,

That’s crazy go nuts!

Rhynoplaz,

That’s what I thought of first.

Rhynoplaz, (edited )

Could it have been Zector?

A similar game by the same designers as Space Fury.

Rhynoplaz,

I have another theory, and please don’t be offended if I’m wrong.

Maybe it wasn’t a game at all.

Could it have been The Bishop of Battle from the movie Nightmares? You might have Mandela-effected this game from memories of that movie and similar games you had played.

Rhynoplaz,

Then my work here is done.

Rhynoplaz,

Oh no! Racist apologists can’t pretend that other people are as hateful as themselves!

They get grumpy whenever someone leaves evidence that they might be the bad guys laying around!

Fuck that mod. Fuck who made it. Fuck anyone who cares about it getting deleted.

Rhynoplaz,

It doesn’t make them look weak at all. You need to dial back the stubborn machismo, and reconsider what being strong is.

A company that realizes the choices they made decades ago were inappropriate, and adds an apology later is strong.

Standing up and speaking out against someone who goes out of their way to promote sand share racism, is strong.

Getting upset because you agree with the racism and you don’t like people telling you that you’re the bad guy, and needing to remove all evidence that you’re a piece of shit is weak.

Be better. Don’t confuse being cruel and stubborn with strength.

Rhynoplaz,

I don’t even know what the original content was, but if the developers felt the need to point out that they made a mistake, they must feel pretty strongly about it. From what I understand, clearing the disclaimer changes nothing in the game, it’s just one less splash screen when you start it up.

It pretty much boils down to:

Developer: Hey guys, that thing we did back then was not cool, so rather than pretend it never happened, or block access to the game, we put a little message in just to let people know that we aren’t as racist as we used to be and we’re sorry.

Racists: We are just as racist as we’ve always been and your apology implies that racism is wrong. Which implies that WE are wrong, and we don’t like to be wrong.

Rhynoplaz,

Go start Nazimods and share hateful bullshit there.

You can ban all the disclaimers your heart desires.

Rhynoplaz,

No, they just had to wait until they slowly got enough micro transactions implemented.

Rhynoplaz,

I haven’t really followed either since the SNES, but we always preferred Street Fighter. Faster pace and less awkward button combinations.

Rhynoplaz,

Check out this guy who couldn’t Yoga Flame!

Rhynoplaz,

I can’t remember which came first, my mom got some games for her Commodore 64, or my dad getting a used Intellivision from one of his buddies at work.

It was either Pitfall or Frog Bog depending on which came first.

Rhynoplaz,

That first goomba killed me three times in a row. Took a little bit to figure out the jump timing.

Playing Video Games Lead To Social Disconnection. It is True? angielski

I felt that playing video games excessively can lead to social disconnection and a lack of social interaction, which can have long-term consequences. Addicted gamers may neglect personal relationships, leading to a lack of social skills and difficulty in developing and maintaining healthy relationships. Video game addiction can...

Rhynoplaz,

Chiming in as a parent. My kids are MOST social when playing video games. They hop online with their friends and they chat and laugh and bullshit with each other.

The case against video games was created by people who think staring at the TV until they fall asleep is a good night.

Rhynoplaz,

Elden Ring for me. The kids have all played the shit out of it and killed literally everything in the game. I hopped on for about two hours, wandered around aimlessly, died a few times, avoided everything to prevent dying, died a few more times and decided I never needed to do that again.

What is the next "grown up game" now that Minecraft only goes for children? angielski

When Minecraft came out, it was hard to understand, not that good looking and only really catered to nerd gamers. There was no recipe book, no cute animals, no lush caves to explore, just an unforgiving Day-Night cycle and few, very creepy caves....

Rhynoplaz,

Have you played Stardew Valley? That’s another great game to sink a few years into.

Rhynoplaz,

Just beat 6 this weekend and started 7.

I think I got pretty far in it back in the day, but I don’t think I ever finished it.

Rhynoplaz,

I am playing the OG PlayStation version on an SNES mini.

I almost wish they had kept it in 2D. The awkward teenage years of gaming resulted in some REALLY ugly 3D models.

Rhynoplaz,

Wrong kind of handicap. You are absolutely right in everything you said above, but it seems OP was referring to PvP games where one player has the option to have more health or do more damage than their opponent. It’s intended to even the playing field when ones pair is more skilled than the other.

Rhynoplaz,

What if I have two link cables and no friends?
