HipsterTenZero, do games w What are your go-to sources for game reviews and finding new games?
@HipsterTenZero@dormi.zone avatar

I dont value reviews at all, I instead just look up streams / LPs of the games and decide if I want to play them after half an hour or so. Sometimes i’ll scrub through if its a slow start and not like a story-focused game.

I usually like to watch before you buy on YouTube . And see what moist critical has to say about it.

iheartneopets, do games w What are your go-to sources for game reviews and finding new games?

I like Adam Millard - Architect of Games, as well as Power Pak. Maybe it’s basic, but I actually find that Tomato on twitch has very similar tastes in indie games as me, so I tend to keep an eye on what he’s playing from time to time. I’ve picked up some great, recs that way. Splattercat, as well.

Interesting to see all replies! I’m curious to find new sources as well. I usually go through a set of bookmarks to sites such as eurogamer, kotaku, pcgamesN, ign (sorry for that), as well as checking reddit and lemmy.

ideonella, do gaming w V Rising Matka the Curse Weaver Difficulty

I did eventually kill Matka. I did it while frail and actually died at the end and had to run back to claim the v-blood. It took entirely too many tries over a number of hours. The only pointer I have for anyone else struggling is to analyze the fighting arena and utilize the extra space available to the west of the boss area. Two sets of trees in that direction make the arena seem much smaller. My game’s difficulty is just regular. Nothing additional, and nothing less.

Wimopy, do games w [Question] Were can i find a list of Safe Sites where buy Steam Games/Keys/Bundles??

isthereanydeal.com lists only legitimate retailers, no second hand/grey market sites. Not exclusively Steam though, so check on the site before purchasing (though usually every website will be selling Steam keys except like Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store, Ubisoft, EA Origin).

You can also link your Steam wishlist, set up alerts for when a game falls below a certain price, etc.

Mostly Cities Skylines 2. The performance is not great, but it’s passable with the settings turned down and the actual city building is really good. Right now I’m working on a big expansion to my city further down the highway, just got the water/power lines run between them so it’s one big happy grid exporting the extra to other cities. Already looking forward to the things I’ll do differently in my second city!

Also playing some Super Mario Wonder on the side, which is fantastic. Great mix of easy fun levels and hard-as-nails secret special levels. Very fun!

I played through NFS Heat which was more enjoyable than I had expected especially since I got it during the hefty 90% off sale recently.

Now I got a bit nostalgic and installed divine divinity again.

Factorio. Hardly anything is as fun as building my factory while listening to a good podcast.

Disgustoid, do games w What did you think of Sea of Stars?

Anyone who says Sea of Stars is in the same echelon as “classic” JRPGs clearly didn’t play all the way through SoS or has not played many classic JRPGs. SoS was an okay game for what it was but I honestly don’t remember much about it a couple of months after finishing it, whereas games like Lunar and Persona will always be cherished gaming memories for me.

The pixelated characters against the high-fidelity 3d background is messing with my head.

Ashtear,

Heh, yeah, that’s one of the popular styles right now. I’d rather see more detailed sprites.

bungle_in_the_jungle, do games w What do you think of Eastward?

I enjoyed it for a good while and found it really charming. I just ended up kind of losing interest for some reason. No idea how far along I was, but I had to be at least half way through.

The soundtrack was a standout to me, I’ll say that!

Cybersteel, do games w What are some alternative to soulless videogame franchises?
@Cybersteel@lemmy.ml avatar

Play those old good olde games on the nes. Modern games just ignore all the EA games, ubishits, Anything first party, eurojanks, weird woo woo games, anything made by the japs and most non traditional ones like those netflix ones.
