From what I recall, this sort of stuff is usually kept as a closely guarded secret by those who do it. Perhaps someone else more knowledgeable about the practice could give some more insight.
I like both, but as others have said, the apm focus in RTS games really puts a cap on my enjoyment of the genre. In theory, I should love the genre, and I usually like the single player Campaigns or skirmishes against bots, but as soon as apm becomes a significant factor, I lose interest. Maybe I should learn some with a pause function, so I can see how I feel about those.
RPGs, specifically turn-based or strategy ones. Action is sometimes fine too. I like stuff with complex battle mechanics and tons of customisation/planning - anything that gets the brain working is fun, really.
I don’t like FPS in general. I’ve only completed Borderlands 2 and Fallout: New Vegas. I don’t like the perspective and the gameplay often feels dull to me. I don’t feel stimulated by them.
I like alternating genres when I get too much of one thing or another. Although it might be undiagnosed ADHD kicking in and preventing me from focusing on one game for long
The Castlevania games have been organized into a couple of collections that are very inexpensive, and I would HIGHLY recommend those. They’re on PC and Switch.
I replay Castlevania 1 and 3 at least once a year.
Sometimes I get a craving to jump in a FPS and just start lighting shit up, but for the most part, I’ve gotten too old for that shit. My reflexes and eyesight can’t keep up with the kids, so I mostly stick with RPGs that allow me to take my time and play when I have a chance.
Of course, most of my favorite games of all time have been both: Fallout, Borderlands, Elder Scrolls.
Deacons of the Deep in dark souls 3. I was running a light dex build at the time (I think using a rapier?) and it was a bit of a nightmare.
The boss is supposed to be piss easy but if you don’t have any sweeping attacks it quickly becomes unmanageable becauss you can’t kill them fast enough and they keep spamming annoying spells.
Don’t know if it’d be something worth while, but if you’re looking for a game to just pass the time, Devil Dice (or XI in Japan I think) for PSx. Trailer linked is highest quality I could find.
Metal Gear Solid is one of my favorite games of all time, followed closely by 2 and 3. It really is an incredibly timeless piece of art in my opinion, just filled to the brim with incredible moments.
Sons of Liberty was my first experience of the MGS series and I really enjoyed it. Absolutely off the wall parody of military games in the absolute best way.
