Grass,

ads targeting the younger generation of gamers that doesn’t know what they have done?

Grass,

no line must go up, only up, up now and up tomorrow and the days after too. fire all the devs too, paying them makes line go down.

Grass,

Consoles have used different wireless tech/protocols but mostly use bluetooth now. Bluetooth devices should be able to work on pc but may require extra hassle like non standard protocol and no official drivers if they weren’t intended to be used that way. For the ones that do work the main takeaway is no additional dongle if your system already has bluetooth, but there may be addititonal input latency.

2.4ghz is kinda silly naming because bluetooth and wifi are both 2.4ghz, though wifi also has 5ghz, but it usually refers to presumably proprietary protocol over 2.4ghz and uses a usb dongle. It will generally be faster/lower latency but that isn’t even guaranteed as the 2.4ghz mentioned never refers to any standard.

The latency difference will only be noticible to cats or birds or something unless the controller tries to pass the headset audio to the pc. Bluetooth audio has a noticable delay compared to most ‘2.4ghz’ options, particularly noticable in rhythm games, games with inputs timed to audio cues, voice chats where everyone else has low latency audio and fast internet, and probably other stuff I’m not personally into.

Deciding your controller comes down to a lot of things. If the means exist in your area, try as many as you can to determine your most comfortable size, shape and layout. Other than that you absolutely must do yourself a favour and get a controller with hall effect sticks. The console companies all love stick drift. Don’t be fooled by Sony’s replacable stick controller either, the sticks are always out of stock and if you can solder you can get a regular controller and swap to hall effect yourself, both sticks, when drift starts for like $5 CAD vs $25 for 1 that will eventually die in the same way.

But probably just don’t give m$ sony or nint your money since they all get drift and I have replaced the battery and charge circuit on 8 separate ps4 controllers and drifting sticks on so so many of every big3 console controller. 8bitdo has a few stick and trigger hall effect controllers which I can mostly recommend, I have the hall stick only version of the ultimate controller and several of their older regular stick controllers. They are noted for their very close replica feel of snes dpad and face buttons but the configuration and firmware update software was windows only last I checked. I also quite like retro fighters controllers but all of their hall effect options are on closed preorder pending fulfillment. There are other highly regarded non big3 brands that I haven’t tried that seem to have pretty solid feature set and build quality too.

The used market is also an option. Arrange for testing though, and pass or haggle on drift, charging problems, filth, etc. Ifixit teardown guides for swapping parts or just cleaning the shells and button caps in soapy water with a soft rag. Watch out for devices originally sold with ‘soft touch’/‘smooth grip’/etc finish as all of them have degraded and become sticky even unopened in box by now.

Grass,

the characters look kinda shit honestly

Grass,

I think ghost trick is older than 10 now

Grass, (edited )

Many solid deals after doom scrolling the pages.

edit: actually im not even half way and I feel like every notable old game ever is on there at a huge discount, with some I am suspicious of with only the title to go off filling the space, except there is no space and its just packed. I need to sleep but I keep scrolling.

The witness 80% off working out to 10.89 irks me. significantly better games with more content are like 6 bucks. I guess when there are no achievements hinting at something being missed, you aren’t compelled to find and do the most bullshit timed challenge in any game I can remember, which increases its value… ?

disclaimer: I enjoyed the first 15-30 minutes or so of the witness then suffered through the slog of completing every last thing. Even my autistic friends that unintentionally did 100% speedruns didn’t like it which gave me the echo chamber I had desired the whole time playing.

Grass,

unlike nearly every other company in existence in any industry, they actually earned their position. It would be nice if they gave a bigger cut to devs, sure, but literally nothing is stopping devs from going on multiple platforms. I am also more forgiving of that due to their contributions to linux gaming, especially now that windows is continuing to go bonkers even after they reached the point that I could no longer tolerate it.

I only buy off steam, gog, and itch.io for some indie stuff as the rest are a terrible experience. And there’s the other part, other platforms need to be good for anyone to want to use them, because nobody will leave steam for a worse platform unless gabe dies and the supposed fuckery prevention plan fails and they go corporate and get an EA approved ceo. Even then it would likely be a slow burn like twitter and reddit. gog and itch have the minimalist store covered so even that is a hurdle. Maybe epic execs can pull themselves up by their bootstraps and figure out how not to suck, then people might use them for more than just hoarding free games they will likely never play.

Grass,

unless you mean zoom the chat with your coworkers thing, I can’t find it.

Grass,

I only remember the ea desktop app bugging out and having a terrible time trying to play with friends in multiplayer games

Grass,

even if I search ‘zoom platform’ its like the 7th result after zoom the video conferencing software. just the sad state of the internet these days. anyway I found it now and I’ll check it out after work.

Grass,

are the games from this studio any good? I only played the original which was a different one i think.

Grass,

that’s good to hear. all of the existing ones are already in my backlog for if things at work ever go as planned ever again. I own #2 and can play the rest via family share… ‘family’

Grass,

Good call. Imagine a studio that simul releases with much more well known competititon, twice.

Grass,

When I was younger and had more time to not worry about merely existing, I used to enjoy chasing the updates and trying to find every glitch and exploit and do as much silly shit as possible before patches went live.

Grass,

I would put this in a game as an untracked quest except if you really dig around it was actually someone that killed the parent and started living as him so if you revert save and keep him alive eventually the kid will show up and some manner of altercation will happen depending on how you completed relevant tracked quests

Grass,

I would feel inclined to use it for some weird shit like if you use an undocumented and never explained method to ask characters questions outside of the choices, they’d pick up their phone and look at you with an uncanny valley/bethesda-like facial expression gain awkward animations and text you the responses even though they weren’t characters you could exchange phone contacts with.

Grass,

Not the worst logo design but up there still.

Grass,

There was nothing quite like when your parents finally let you get another game so you brought home majoras mask and read the booklet thoroughly on the dive home, then after getting control of link again after what felt like centuries to an impatient child and seeing him do flips and shit up the tree stumps

Grass,

Fucking enough “slams” in headlines!!!¹¹11one. /s

Grass,

I’ve not really thought about it before, but how does a dmca takedown work? Is it just the company telling the hosting to get rid of it and they comply? What is to keep someone from self hosting or hosting somewhere hard to do anything about?

Grass,

They probably already put out more patches than the devs of every other game released around the same time combined.

Grass,

Sure… I would also say that handheld design has gone way too far in the direction that the other alt-decks would have benefitted from going for just a little bit. The result is a pure no. There is no way you can make an all purpose gaming device without real buttons. And whatever core casual means I don’t think a megagimmick input system fits that description.

Grass,

It would sell easy if they didn’t use some weird hardware only on a select few PC graphics cards. Even if PC support was enabled by modders it would still sell but the hardware requirements are simply too much of a hindrance

Grass,

I’m surprised the numbers go that high

A coop PvE game for two dads and three sons?
A shooter, preferably. Any recommendations, guys? The youngest lad is 10, so as little violence as possible. Thanks 😉

@gaming

Grass,

I’ve played 12 player DRG. It’s a pretty good recommendation. Mods are pretty simple to install and work similar to subscribing to steam workshop listings.

Grass,

Dunno about Yakuza but sounds fine for all but warcraft. World of ruined the franchise for me. I just wanted more of the same. Also I thought persona was part of megami tensei.

Grass,

Probably the only update that brings what I would consider bad changes. Might work for some playthroughs but it’s more versatile in what you can do the old way.

Grass,

Wow that was literally one click as I was already signed in. Epic freebies you have to go through the whole cart and wait for to complete procedure

Grass,

I never noticed gog emails apart from maybe when I made the account but it could be uni’s fault… https://sh.itjust.works/pictrs/image/5c8190e6-5a93-4624-8803-935ae2093e15.jpeg

This is all from one parcel.

Grass,

The first one gave me the impression of a sort of sequel that requires alternate timeline and some characters seemed to be at least somewhat aware of it, but I could also just be overanalyzing incorrectly. Second part soon ish on PS so I expect part 3 on PC by the time I’m 90 if I’m still alive then.

Grass,

Ace attorney anime was kinda ass sweat though and vastly inferior to the games, I just wished they continued using the same japanese voice for naruhodo/phoenix mayoi/Maya for the main games as they did for the Layton crossover. It was the live action movie actors that voiced them in the crossover IIRC and it was an excellent job that felt way more natural than generic male anime voice and generic female anime voice

Grass,

Septum always made me think septic

Grass,

It was a piece of crap anyway that had been done before in crappy flash games that predate the iPhone itself.

Grass,

The mechanically identical predecessor games didn’t have any anti user elements either. The concept predates that too. If my family had enough money and modern day iffy parenting to give their barely highschool aged kid an iphone I probably could have made quite a chunk of money porting simple games I didn’t even come up with to the platform. I hated the ios interface back then too though from trying it when friends were showing off the new toy.

A large part of what made it crap to me both then and now is whatever causes my dislike of GTA even though I enjoyed 100%ing them up to san Andreas, of CoD even though MW2(original) had a special place in my blackened heart for being my first all achievements game, or any sports game other than SNES NHL 98.

I agree with the what you called the details of the game making or breaking it however. The Spider-Man formula just does it for me. Some I just vaguely recall as being fun like older Spider-Man titles, the hulk, prototype, watchdogs, etc., but I still absolutely love gravity rush/daze 1 and 2 as well as the recent Spider-Man games ported from PS. I spent a good chunk of time curled up in a ball, rolling around on the floor while playing gravity rush 1 on ps vita to up the immersion.

Grass,

It was literally a stolen concept with a mashup of stolen graphics

Grass,

Japanese with hair dye if greying is one of the recipes for looking the same age while everyone else gets older

Grass,

The open world Zeldazes were over hyped but still, really? I haven’t played it myself but watching others play, it didn’t seem all that great.

Grass,

Edit 2 is what I needed to hear to know that this is definitely not for me.

Grass,

Goodbye supposedly gradually derped off from ‘god be with you’ and that feels pretty different to me even when used for the same purpose

Grass,

Grounded. Awful xbl sign in experience that turned out to require turning off the pihole type AdBlock or whitelisting like 70 weird m$ domains. No dedicated server so can’t self host on a desktop and playing with friends requires the save owner to be available or use a janky save sharing thing that probably can’t solve the case of co-op team accidentally hosting it separately and progressing because steam notifications are annoying and turned off. Game is decent enough otherwise and most of the things I didn’t like in gameplay turned out to be upgradeables that would eventually become less irritating. It’s a buildcraft survival with bugs and spiders and the player characters are small enough that a blade of grass is more like a tree trunk.

Grass,

Rebuilding mod list: already pro tourney gamer level but single player.

Grass,

Some of those achivs are a huuuuuuuge RNG slog

Grass,

I feel like recent pokemon is a low hurdle

Grass,

Probably. I can’t imagine they will fuck up dd2 based on dark arisen and ddon.

Somehow they made a game with the most generic fantasy creatures quite good. The original and the now dead dd online both had their share of jank, but probably my favourite monster climbing mechanics which I still think are better than any mh game I have tried, and hands down the most enjoyable and rewarding spell casting mechanic, especially the ddon version. The quest handling is more traditional than fromsoft’s figure it out yourself approach and I don’t remember anything particularly bad about it. A lot of the dungeons and caves in ddon were just cut and paste segments that you start to recognize after a while, but I didn’t find it bothered me really. Rather than that I expect 2 will have more unique and purpose built environments.

Grass,

I love this game but nobody has time to play it with me any more. Neither do I really.
