I so love the DS and 3DS and want these new devices like the Thor to succeed, but the one thing I would see them improve before being called true successors is stylus compatibility.
I don’t know how touchscreen tech works, but the plastic tipped stylus for the DS just feels so much better than the rubber tipped ones meant for modern screens
Different touch detection methods. The squishy DS screens work by physically making contact. Glass phone screens work by detecting electrical capacitance differences.
Modern touch screens work well enough to not really require styluses to feel good though. So modern styluses feeling annoying isn’t as big of an issue for most uses.
Ease of travel and speed of travel. Even a small map can feel cumbersome, repetitive, and boring. If the missions are designed poorly, and the game mechanics ignore an entertaining user experience, walking down the same hallway a thousand times can feel like a chore.
“Too big” is a relative feeling that involves many factors.
Bestiary entries are vast, almost a book in game format, and most add to lot of worldbuilding even if not needed for the main plot itself.
Also bosses, sidequests, enviromental cues seldom aren't at least hinted by a few NPCs often dozens of hours before they're relevant.
Overall details are often explained when you look in the right corners of the game. Even some weird weather cycles seem to have some logic applied. And in a single case, it felt inspired by a real-world element, one even Mad Max 4 used a cut in the beginning.
And I wonder if the sky-gazing kid in one of the airships that says she saw something in the sky was referring to Deathgaze or the continent from Revenant Wings....
Even better, Remedy themselves are! Rockstar are publishing it though as they own the rights to the IP. I’m super curious about how they’ll turn out, especially with James McCaffrey’s passing.
Still playing Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, I’m in Master Rank 5* missions now and slowly grinding through, not sure how much farther I’ll keep playing, but it’s still kind of fun.
I’ve also been dipping into the original Hades, I bounced off this game before because it was so grindy, buy I’m following some build guides now and I’ve managed to defeat Hades once, so I’ll stick with it some more.
I’ll try and believe in the guy to not be a troll.
It could just be bad UX from a Lemmy app. In voyager, for example, it isn’t always clear while browsing a feed, that an image post also has text in its body. But the app lets you reply from the feed view. So, you see a screenshot in your feed, tap the image instead of the post, so you just see a bigger screenshot, and there’s no hint in this view, that there might be text in the body. So, you just type up a reply from there.
