Preordering is dumb, preordering in 2023 when it’s 50/50 whether any given PC port is going to be a total mess is dumb

Stop. Preordering.

ghostalmedia,

The people that preorder clearly aren’t listening

Like at least find out if the planets are any good first and not just 2000 procedurally generated flavors of bear asses to collect.

Hopefully there’s a whole RPG game in there and those are just side stuff to muck around and get some loot.

Why are people advising against pre-ordering? Is Bethesda known for not meeting expected release dates?

Nymphioxetine,

Basically, preordering incentivizes companies to release games that are not finished. In general, companies will always maximize revenues while minimizing costs. If they can release a game that didn’t cost them as much to produce (getting massive preorders through good marketing but pinching development and quality) then they absolutely will. look at any AAA released this year

Forkk,

Why are people buying products that they can’t even have until release day?

Auzy, do gaming w Let's discuss: Stardew Valley

I just didn’t 20 hours so far on it

What I don’t like is that you need to finish the day for it to save

Also the wording about what happens to crops at the end of season should change

But otherwise, it’s something to do, but it is getting a bit click and pointy really. I wish you should pair up with characters more and walk around with then

friendlymessage,

At least on Android, there is a save function in the menu. Doesn’t that exist on Desktop as well?

Auzy,

I don’t think so. Maybe I’m missing something?

princessnorah,
@princessnorah@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

No, it’s a mobile-only feature. On desktop the game only saves once the day ends, either via bed or exhaustion.

The good: An even more addictive Harvest Moon!

The bad: Normal Harvest Moon was already addictive enough, so I skipped this one.

Have another play session with my partner planned tonight! We play with all kinds of mods and the sheer amount of them means that we’re nowhere near to having done and seen everything yet! Especially with the new content update that came out a couple months ago, which is amazing in itself, honestly.

I actually really struggled with making money at the beginning, how did you do this?

CinnamonTheCat,
@CinnamonTheCat@beehaw.org avatar

When did you last play? I literally just played the game and sometimes just didn’t place some services- I think a good tip rn is just advance from a small city quickly, as later in the game it’s broken and gives you unlimited money as your people somehow make insane amounts of money. But in the early game advancing is your friend to gain cash from the advancements

Fisch,
@Fisch@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

That’s what I meant with at the beginning. As soon as I started making more profit than losses, it became very easy, which also made it kind of boring.

djsoren19, do gaming w Let's discuss: The Sims

The Sims 2 Castaway is basically the proto survival crafting game. It’s kinda cool to see the classic Sim stats get used in such a different way. I sometimes wish EA would return to those days of selling spinoff Sim games like Castaway and the Urbz, rather than just dumping every single new idea they get into one game as DLC.

jupyter_rain, do gaming w Let's discuss: The Sims

I liked 1 but played so much sims 2 back when I was in school. It is still really relaxing for me, so from time to time I come back and build a house with a crazy family in it.

Gonna be playing this eventually. Bought the full series in the winter, and it’s on my shortlist.

Anyone got mod recommendations?

knokelmaat,

Did you buy the original games or the legendary edition? I played ME1 vanilla and enjoyed it a lot!

Telorand,

The LE.

maynarkh,

I am the kind of person that always installs tons of mods to everything.

With ME though, especially on the first playthrough - just go in vanilla. Maybe the remastered thing for ME1.

jellyfish,

Agreed. First playthrough should 100% be vanilla. I do mod a few things on subsequent playthroughs though. Personally I like to give myself infinite paragon/renegade (through a save editor), because I like being able pick a renegade option when I think my Shepard would do that, without having to worry about maxing my paragon for important choices. I also prefer playing biotic classes because they’re more fun, but want a sniper rifle, so I mess with the save to give sniper rifle competency to my class in ME1. Finally I’m trying the happy ending mod this playthrough to see if I like it.

Cyv_,

It’s honestly fine vanilla, but quality of life wise for ME1, I liked the mod that gave the mako (ground vehicle) infinite boost, and infinite sprinting for all 3.

Talaraine,

There's really just a metric ton. I found this video that has a way to install a bunch at once, but just keep in mind there may be some other mod out there you'd like too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Eqg9fDClCM

Telorand,

I took a look at Nexus a while ago, and it was overwhelming! You can tell how loved a game is by the number of mods.

Talaraine,

It really is that way! I've been telling myself it's time for another LE playthrough for a year now but I'll say it again. A modded playthrough is on my LIST! I love the Expanded Galaxy Mod with all my beating heart =)

OpenPassageways, do gaming w Let's discuss: Metroid

Replayed the Prime series a bunch, most recently the switch remake of Prime.

Great series, I didn’t like some of the dialog/cinematics of the third one but the gameplay was great.

Dread was really good, exceeded expectations. Final boss was hard I’m not sure I ever beat it.

Super Metroid was great but I’m not sure whether I ever beat Ridley.

I think I completed the remake though. Really hoping to see Prime 4 at some point, maybe on a new console.
