I’m just a weird, furry, pan guy (cis he/him). I also have a big, blue username.

Currently on Earth for 8 years ensuring steps to unite humanity and usher us into the galactic civilization just so I can see my boyfriend again.

It’s exactly the same game, but with better graphics and technical aspects as they port Global Offensive to Source 2.

Big, well known actors in video games have been a thing for a long time now? I remember games from the 90’s that had actors like James Earl Jones, Tim Curry, Bill Paxton, Randy Quaid, and so many more growing up.

What’s interesting is, it doesn’t seem like it’s expanded or shrunk. Most games don’t hire big actors, but a handful of huge budget, AAA things do. There’s also big range in how good these actors are in the game… JK Simmons, for example, was awesome as Cave Johnson in Portal; but his performance in Baldur’s Gate 3 is, by far, the worst in the entire game IMO.

Kolanaki,
!deleted6508 avatar

His just felt a bit flat compared to all the other performances.

Kolanaki,
!deleted6508 avatar

Sometimes I feel like I’m the only gamer that doesn’t give a fuck about review scores. I’d rather see for myself or hear about it from someone who I know has similar taste. Especially when it’s pretty common now for people to brigade those scores into oblivion or to massive new heights on a knee-jerk reaction to absolute fucking bullshit.

Kolanaki,
!deleted6508 avatar

What is the difference between this and Tony Hawk HD (which is already on Steam)?

Kolanaki,
!deleted6508 avatar

Active moderation isn’t spying but using an AI is? The only reason those self-hosted community servers didn’t have problems was because they (usually) had active admins to see bad behavior and take action. This is merely automating that so a real human being doesn’t have to be there watching.

Kolanaki,
!deleted6508 avatar

They already have your data without the AI. Most games have had wide rangeing telemetry sent to the dev for over a decade now. This includes the text chat logs.

Kolanaki,
!deleted6508 avatar

My dad still reminds me that when he bought me Dr. Mario for NES on release, it was $90USD. I remember seeing many a game at Toys R Us with price tags of up to $120.

But I can name plenty of games in 2023 that cost more $66. Shittons of console titles are $70 now!

Kolanaki, (edited )
!deleted6508 avatar

$66 in the 90’s vs $70 in 2023 isn’t cheaper because games are digitally distributed now? What are you smoking? Can I have some?

Kolanaki, (edited )
!deleted6508 avatar

Apparently you’re illiterate because I was asking how that makes them cheaper. None of those things matter in the slightest and would only cost marginally more to produce.

$70 is still more than $66, regardless of that unnecessary shit.

Kolanaki, (edited )
!deleted6508 avatar

OIC… You’re just an absolute dingus who has no fucking clue what they are on about. Cartridges were only slightly more to produce than a CD, and Nintendo still makes their games on cartridges (fancier ones than the SNES, too) that cost the same as the digital release. The only time this wasn’t true was during the 64 era, when an earthquake shut down the manufacturers of the carts and fucked up production. Do you work for Capcom? I feel like you’d fit in.

Kolanaki, (edited )
!deleted6508 avatar

I mean… it’s also the fact you can move in the game while sitting down or standing still IRL. The framerate isn’t going to affect that inner ear/brain disconnect that causes motion sickness. Get a viable, and affordable, omnidirectional treadmill out and that would be a big help.

Kolanaki,
!deleted6508 avatar

Tbf, the PS5 version of the game has two modes; performance and graphics. You can have it look really good and get raytracing features but play at 30fps or reduce some of those settings and play at 60+ (I think this one goes to 120 if you have a capable display).

But even on Performance, it has been the best looking game I have ever played, and I tend to keep up with the latest and greatest.

Kolanaki, (edited )
!deleted6508 avatar

Why stop at 128 tick? Why not update the game state every millisecond? Or when any action is taken by any player (which is what the subtic thing sounds like)? Eliminating as much time delay between 1 player doing something and the other players being sent that data seems to be the way to go; so what’s preventing it from being done that way? Bandwidth? CPU speeds? What?

Kolanaki, (edited )
!deleted6508 avatar

Have you tried just going into the shipbuilder, moving a thing, saving it, moving it back and then saving and exiting the shipbuilder?

Or does the phantom ship attachment persist there too?

Kolanaki,
!deleted6508 avatar

Dang. That’s quite annoying. I’m worried about getting this one as well; from what I’ve seen watching Spiffing Brit and some other 'tubers, it will almost always happen after a long enough time. :(

Kolanaki,
!deleted6508 avatar

Problematic in a computer model or…? How does real space travel account for the gravitational pull of 3+ celestial bodies?

Kolanaki, (edited )
!deleted6508 avatar

Phantasmagoria.

No, not the more recent VR Game, Phasmaphobia. Phantasmagoria was a DOS PnC adventure game that absolutely scared the shit out of me when I was 9.

Kolanaki,
!deleted6508 avatar

Yep. It had a script over 550 pages long; about the same length as an average hollywood film and also had a huge 25 actor cast, many of which were classically trained actors.

And here I am only remembering the basement and the scary sounds that made me stop playing for a week.

The only thing Valve has done with Steam that apparently is anti-competitive, is actually having a decent product with good features and no one else is capable of actually delivering parity with it to be a viable competitor.

A natural monopoly is a far cry from one built through anti-competitive practices, and easily toppled by competent competitors.

Perhaps if Valve’s competition was competent, there would be better options.

Kolanaki, (edited )
!deleted6508 avatar

Then get mad at the weak-ass competition. Start a fire under their asses to make something that is actually just as good, if not better.

Punishing the one good product for being good is just gonna lead to there being no good products and only shitty ones just as much as your slippery-slope scenario. 🤦‍♂️

Kolanaki, (edited )
!deleted6508 avatar

If that was true, then why complain about Valve’s “monopoly?” It has competition. The competition is just shit.

Kolanaki, (edited )
!deleted6508 avatar

If you have kids, they can’t play 2 completely different games on two different computers.

Steam does support that tho. That’s what Family Sharing is. And it works really well.

Now, if you wanted to play the same game at the same time, that’s on a single Steam account, that you can’t do. But I’m pretty sure you can’t do that on EGS, either. Not without 2 accounts and 2 copies of the game.

Kolanaki, (edited )
!deleted6508 avatar

I know the wording there is fucked up, but have you used it? Because you can play two separate games at the same time with it, but you can’t play the same exact game as each other. I use it all the time to play stuff my sister has that I don’t, while she plays something else.

Kolanaki,
!deleted6508 avatar

That’s it? The Blood of Llathander thing? I found that my first playthrough! It wasn’t even easy to miss unless you just completely fucked off on the first puzzle.

Kolanaki,
!deleted6508 avatar

Wow. Yellow robot ninja man really just killed himself, too?

Kolanaki,
!deleted6508 avatar

I decided to play Disco Elysium again, but this time I’m just going full on drug and alcohol addicted sex maniac. I only wear the tie, I never tell the truth, and I’m just an absolute asshole continuing the bender that Harry started 3 days prior to us taking control of his adventure. Fuck solving this murder. I’m party cop.

Kolanaki,
!deleted6508 avatar

I liked how crafting in Shroud of the Avatar was setup somewhat realistically, even if it was tedious as fuck. Real life is also tedious as fuck. Like you actually put the metal in a forge, heat it, pound it, etc. Like all the steps for making the thing you’re making from mining the ore, smelting and refining it, and then using the metal to make stuff.

Elon Musk demanded a cameo in Cyberpunk 2077 while wielding a 200 year old gun: "I was armed but not dangerous" (www.pcgamer.com)

While Elon’s then-partner Grimes was recording her part in the game as cyborg popstar Lizzy Wizzy, the erratic tech billionaire turned up with an antique firearm to “insist” on being included in the game. “The studio guys were like sweating,” Grimes is quoted as saying. Musk adds “I told them that I was armed but not...

I can’t recall ever seeing a Musk character; but Hideo Kojima made an appearance as himself.

I never got into BOTW, either. But TOTK is so much better in every way, I got into that just fine.

BOTW is just so bare-bones and not engaging enough.

Kolanaki,

They went back to square one. BOTW and TOTK have more in common with the first 3 games than the last 3 games that came before BOTW.

Baldur's Gate 3 patch 3 releases today and lets you change your appearance and pronouns (www.rockpapershotgun.com) angielski

Baldur's Gate 3's Patch 3, which was so massive Larian held it back a day to test it properly, will release today, and it'll add an RPG feature many of us have been requesting since we stepped clear of the Nautiloid - the ability to change a character's appearance. Alas, it comes too late for the Wood Elf Druid I rolled during...

!deleted6508 avatar

The question about Starfield being multiplayer (it’s not, BTW) just made me wonder if other players in the BG3 session see your character’s pronouns (I haven’t played online yet).

Wouldn’t be that cool if the other players keep misgendering my gnome.

Kolanaki,
!deleted6508 avatar

They know there’s a good chunk of gamers that are into the tentacle stuff.

Kolanaki, (edited )
!deleted6508 avatar

I’m just thinking of how I have mods for both Skyrim and Fallout 4 that turn every character into furries, and how Starfield doesn’t have multiple races. I’m not sure if modding can add more races because every single mod I’ve ever seen from Morrowind to Fallout 4 only ever uses the same number of races the vanilla game offers. But it would be a little disappointing for there to only be 1 race (maybe 2 if you count robots) for mods like that.

Kolanaki,
!deleted6508 avatar

Haha I figured it was on purpose linking this news to the current Nexus drama over the removal of a mod that removes the pronoun option at character creation.

Kolanaki,
!deleted6508 avatar

I only use inverted controls in a flight sim when I am using a joystick.

Kolanaki,
!deleted6508 avatar

I mean… why do a remake of something good, when you can remake something not good, but make it good this time?

Kolanaki, (edited )
!deleted6508 avatar

I save scum with the setting that changes the seed every time so you can do the same thing multiple times but end up with different results. Mostly because I fucking hate “100% chance to succeed… MISS.”

Kolanaki,
!deleted6508 avatar

He’s said that way before 2020, also. Publicly. It seems that has not changed. Most in that kind of position would come to the same conclusions of buying up the competition and making money off their products. It’s cheaper, it’s easier, you already get the infrastructure and customer base, etc. What capitalist wouldn’t try to go that route?

Kolanaki, (edited )
!deleted6508 avatar

From what people who had seen the mod page were saying when this all started blowing up, was that it was removed not for what the mod did, but for what the author of the mod put in the mod description page (basically full of racist, sexist, homo and transphobic bullshit), which was a violation of their rules. Plenty of other mods that remove the pronouns option still exist on Nexus, but without the bigotry clearly laid down in their descriptions.

whats your unconcious sign that you really really like the game you are playing angielski

So i just noticed that when i really like the game at some point i will at once play the game and watch the stream/youtube wideo of the game( usualy speedrun or aome hardcore challenge). Microsoft documents leak new Bethesda games, including an Oblivion remaster (www.theverge.com) angielski

Remember that these were estimates from more than three years ago and before Microsoft completed its acquisition of ZeniMax in March 2021, so there’s always the chance that some of these plans have changed dramatically or been scrapped entirely. But they may provide an early look at some of the games we can look forward to...

Kolanaki, (edited )
!deleted6508 avatar

To be fair, that’s all Bethesda’s games have been since Oblivion. And I’m not just talking about the plethora of Skyrim re-releases. None of their games are really all that different from the formula they laid down with Oblivion.

Kolanaki,
!deleted6508 avatar

This is both interesting and terrifying at the same time. I’m not much of a Nintendo fan these days, but I don’t think Microsoft would really help things if they acquired them. But I also doubt Nintendo would sell… Can they be taken over hostilely (acquire them through buying a controlling number of shares)? I am not sure how that shit works if the companies are in totally different countries, even if both are publicly traded.

Kolanaki,
!deleted6508 avatar

Why does the controller look like one of those waist only mannequins showing off some funky new underwear?

Kolanaki, (edited )
!deleted6508 avatar

Dude, I put like 60 hours into Skyrim my first time before I thought “hey… where’s my shout powers and all the dragons?” Because as soon as Hadvar said “we should split up to avoid suspicion” I unchecked the active quest, said “adios!” And vanished into the trees. I had to come back at like level 30 or something to do the entire MQ from Riverwood to the end.

That’s just how a lot of people play these. I don’t wanna follow their story; I wanna make my own.

Edit: Oh and this is all besides the fact that not only do mods disable achievements, so now do console commands in Starfield. I’ve had to no clip a few times to get unstuck while jumping around with low gravity and ending up places I shouldn’t be, so there are probably some achievements I didn’t get simply because that command likely disabled them (it just gives a generic warning that some commands will disable them, but not which ones).

Starfield players are being haunted by asteroids (www.rockpapershotgun.com) angielski

Over the weekend, Starfield players began to share reports of a strange paranormal infestation. There are asteroids in the game that, for reasons known only to gods and/or programmers, follow you from orbit to orbit, flying eerily in formation with your ship, and sometimes even accompanying you to a planet's surface. "In one of...

No. There was a time around when I was in high school where it had some really great art, and writing. To see what it is in 2023… is grotesque.

Shit… I wonder how the forums are faring? I used to be all over those back in the day.
