roguetrick,

https://lemmy.world/modlog?page=1&actionType=ModBanFromCommunity

Looks like they're doing a lot of dam plugging right now, I think we may get defederated temporarily if this keeps up

roguetrick,

Well, now @PugJesus @ivanafterall and @tjhart85 got community bans so at least I'm in good company.

livus,
@livus@kbin.social avatar

Looks like it's affecting at least a dozen people now.

How do you know what page you're on?

Edit: Nevermind, I forgot that infinite scroll isn't the default setting. Haha.

@lemonflavoured@kbin.social avatar

Yeah, that seems an odd UI quirk to me.

SharkAttak, w /kbin another quick update
@SharkAttak@kbin.social avatar

Good, since the Lemmy recent criticisms we need an alternative way for the fediverse..
Just one question, should we report spam posts?

the_rogue,
@the_rogue@sh.itjust.works avatar

Did i miss somethin ? Which one are you talking about ?

SharkAttak,
@SharkAttak@kbin.social avatar

Recently there was a request for funds from the Lemmy devs, some answered ok, others hell nah: https://kbin.social/m/technology@lemmy.world/t/913126/YSK-Lemmy-has-53k-monthly-active-users-but-only-1172 if you scroll down to Ignacio's comment there's a link with more to it.
tl;dr Lemmy devs are a bunch of tankies and have a rathere rude approach for those asking for more features, even fundamental ones.

livus,
@livus@kbin.social avatar

I thought Lemmy devs receive funding from a European project thingy.

the_rogue,
@the_rogue@sh.itjust.works avatar

Ok to be fair their politics doesn’t affect lemmy and as for the feature requesting people were entitled assholes and somw guy acted like he was their work slave which pissed the devs of which is complety understandable . apart from that i find the devs fairly pleasant and this is just blatant misinformation spread about them by people who don’t like their political stand . Also no i don’t like russia or china either but i fail to see how it matters on an open source project.

SharkAttak,
@SharkAttak@kbin.social avatar

Mh, I don't know how but I messed up, the link I was referring to was this. https://docs.beehaw.org/docs/important-questions-decisions-and-reflections/beehaw-lemmy-and-a-vision-of-the-fediverse/ Now I didn't see the posts before, but answering to someone asking for mod tools, (a feature that is fundamental to a social network, like the CP problem brought to light) "well if you don't dont like it thats the door" is not very mature or pleasant.

roastedDeflator, (edited )
@roastedDeflator@kbin.social avatar

@SharkAttak in the link you provided it says stuff like:

There's threads denyng the oppression of Uyghur muslims (...)

Other posts deny that North Korea is oppressive.

I don't understand how these posts are a proof that lemmy has a bunch of devs that are tankies, since there is no link to the problematic threads they mention. If somehow I missed them could you point those out to me?

Also not too sure I understand how this is a topic related to devs and not mods?

cloudless,

@cloudless thank you for those links, now I understand.

le quoi? Portable Web Application?

Pamasich,

Progressive web app. Modern browsers let you install a website to your phone or desktop as a pseudo-app. It'll still run in the browser, but most of the browser stuff, like tabs and bookmarks, are hidden to give you a focused and clean experience. Developers only have to ensure their website supports mobile phones and don't need to develop an entire app project to accomodate phone users.

Oh wow, you can make it smaller, too.

Glad to hear you are feeling better. If you need any guidance from someone with dozens of years running software teams and projects, please reach out. I mentioned some more details about my background in a PM.

520, w Since no upvotes are possible, the 'Hot' and 'New' pages of Kbin should show the same content. That's kinda awesome

What are you talking about? Upvotes are plenty possible on kbin.

BarbecueCowboy,

Maybe technically and in general sometimes, but not for most at the moment.

Sentrovasi,

Have you tried it recently? It brings you to an error page.

FfaerieOxide, w If kbin is going down for planned maintenance can the generic ‘ Over the next few days, there will be a change in server infrastructure…’ text at least be dated
@FfaerieOxide@kbin.social avatar

You're able to post this, aren't you?

Silverseren,

I find myself today unable to upvote or boost anything without immediately being sent to that maintenance page.

Edit: Oh, also, I just realized that I myself can't see upvotes on any thread and every thread also lists as having "0 comments". I have to click into the comment section to find that there are indeed comments.

That also applies to my own posted threads, which I am not receiving any notifications about for comments posted. So I probably won't even see your or anyone else's reply to this comment.

That's not working right now. I recommend saving up your strong opinions to shotgun out at once once again it is.

Seraph, w /kbin quick March update
@Seraph@kbin.social avatar

Thanks Ernest, glad you're starting to feel better!

Is there any progress on the delayed federation? Other than this post my "Hot" is all 18 hours old.

TheaoneAndOnly27,

I'm definitely in the minority of this. And I'm not saying that anybody else feels this way. But it's been kind of nice with how slow kbin.social updates the hot section. It's definitely made it so that way I consume way less news. And I'm not checking My phone is much. Not saying you should stay that way, just saying that it's been an interesting benefit for me personally.

Seraph,
@Seraph@kbin.social avatar

It also means the rest of Lemmy/etc don't see your posts or comments for X hours as well.

That's great Ernest. Good to read you're going to delegate admin tasks. I'm ready to help as you know. There's a question on the matrix about unusual activity, maybe you can have someone look at that. Stay strong!
