Maalus, w Mario + Rabbids creative director wants to make a new Rayman game

“worker said they’d work if offered the chance”. As a long term Rayman fan - it’s not happening till proven otherwise. And by proven, I mean released.

It’s a great universe and getting more 3D Rayman is my childhood dream. But it’s been so many years of the character being sidelined, there’s basically no chance of a return. Especially since the creator of the lore left the company in disgrace

reksas, w Warfare MMO Foxhole is adding naval combat complete with huge multi-person ships

Sounds cool, but in practice it might be just more things to do for huge regiments while those who dont want to dedicate their entire lives to the game or join some big group barely get to even see the things. I hope i’m wrong.

has combat beem rebalanced to be more like the mods now

icydefiance,

I’m not familiar with the mods, but the combat was definitely rebalanced. Enemies scale with your level now, guns themselves were rebalanced, armor is on cyberware instead of clothing, and the new perk trees are more consistently useful instead of some perks being worthless and others being game breaking.

enemies scale? to whag degree? also heres what one mjnute of modded rebalanced combat looks like but yiu should look into more vids to undersyand all the differences m.youtube.com/watch?v=1qoHZxn664I

icydefiance,

Damage, hp, and drop rarity. It means you can go anywhere in the city at any level (after act 1) and both the challenge and rewards will feel good. It’s also nice because you can grab the iconics you want for your build right away instead of playing half of the game without them.

You still gradually get more powerful as you get more perks. It’s just not as simple as out levelling the enemies anymore.

also heres what one mjnute of modded rebalanced combat looks like

TTK is still pretty high compared to that video, unless you invest heavily in the Cool tree and focus on headshots.

tdawg,

Personally I hate scaling in games. It makes leveling up feel pointless or even punishing. Nothing feels better than returning to the intro area as a god and nuking the npcs from orbit

icydefiance,

You know, normally I would agree with you, but this one feels different to me. I think it’s because there’s no endgame, so if I out-level all the enemies then there’s nothing left to play for.

Drbreen,

Doing that in Starfield right now lol Hey you level 1 syndicate, ffffffuck off! Bam

Zozano,

And Very Hard is still a cake walk :(

They supposedly increased the combat AI, I suppose that only matter to Gear of War style players

fosforus,

Do they scale? I seemed to have lots of difficulty in levels 1-10, and now my 50+ character obliterates every regular encounter with its pinky finger with no need to take any cover from incoming fire, and even the named enemies are not really a challenge.

I think that’s good though, scaling is a dumb mechanic in a game like this.

I’m still not gonna buy it though.

Given the amount of times Rayman 2 has been ported as a “new” game every time a new console was released I’m very surprised UbiSoft haven’t remastered it for PC yet.

They’re good at that. I remember trying Skyrim when it was new and we all didn’t know there would be like 15 rereleases and it felt weirdly dated. I couldn’t really put my finger on why, it just felt old.

kurcatovium,

It felt like Oblivion reskin.

And Oblivion felt basically like Morrowind reskin with more polygons…

tdawg,

And less rpg :(

kurcatovium,

Sadly yes. Morrowind was Bethesda’s peak gaming moment tbh.

NathanielThomas, w Weekly what have you been playing discussion - week of October, 2, 2023

Can I just say, that I loaded up Starfield tonight and the NPCs are the worst I’ve ever seen in 30 years of PC gaming. Their bug eyes and lack of reaction or response to anything is so far beyond uncanny Valley that I actually am impressed at how terrible it is. This is the worst game I’ve seen released in a very very long time.

The game looks interesting - is it possible to play it somewhat casually? Like for at most 2 hours at a time?

james,

Absolutely. It really depends what you want to do. Jump straight into the frontline meat grinder and you’ll be able to dip out whenever you like. You could even do some basic logistics runs in that time. Start building bases or factories and that’s when there’s a huge time commitment lol

Razputinsgirth, w Cyberpunk's storytelling makes Starfield seem ancient

I've been seeing a ton of cyberpunk ads since starfield was released just shitting on starfield and talking up cyberpunk. This seems like a smear campaign. Frankly if your a fan of sci Fi and video games. You should probably try both when they're on sale.

drekly, (edited )

Cyberpunk put ALL their money into marketing, and they’re heavily investor-pressured into showing the game is better received than it actually is. I still firmly believe that a large percentage of the praise is astroturfing. Especially when they downvote everything negative without a response

tehmics,

Ok here’s a response. I pirated cyberpunk on release fully expecting it to be buggy. I enjoyed bits of it at the time but I stopped because it was too buggy and unpolished.

This is CD Project Red’s track record, but somehow everyone forgot about how bad Witcher 3 was. I expected this 2.0 update eventually and I’m glad they started another marketing push, so that I can know it’s time for the game to actually be ‘done’. Obviously they paid streamers to show the game, that’s no secret. But also it looks genuinely better, just like Witcher 3. So I’ll probably actually buy it next time it goes on sale, after pirating it to see if it’s worth it now.

Meanwhile Starfield looks exactly like the milktoast Skyrim reskin I expected it to be, with nothing really standing out. Bethesda has been slowly comodifying their games since Morrowind -> Oblivion then followed an obvious template since Skyrim. It really shows in their boring designs.

Cyberpunk was trying to do too much, but Starfield isn’t doing enough.

drekly,

Fair point about starfield, I haven’t played it yet but have heard many negative things.

But your point about cyberpunk, in response to me is “It was too buggy to enjoy on release and I haven’t played the late, updated version” , but you’re glad it’s being marketed on every platform?

That doesn’t do it any favours 😅

PoetSII,

Fwiw it’s ‘milquetoast’
