Insomniac has really raised the bar for accessibility features. Even though I don’t necessarily need them, I love that these same features give me the ability to tweak so many aspects of the gameplay to my liking.
As someone who has played the game from day 1, and almost every day since, it’s a shame that this game that already is on auto drive will be crippled even further. If you have a bunch of friends who just wanna chat and don’t wanna play something competitive it fills all those roles.
I guess we should expect even less changes and content going forward… I know the level creation was just created to allow the community to provide free content so I wonder what else they can do to continue this or if the game will just die off.
…small concern though: I currently use the rail planner a lot, usually to map out how I want my outposts to look at long distances. If the rail planner, particularly shift + click, is actively looking for rails to snap to, I hope it won’t greedily try to snap to rails I don’t want it to. I’m sure the devs already have this considered, but I just want to make sure that if I have multi-layer train crossings, and I’m trying to plan them out before I actually build them, that I’m able to path out rails behind an elevated rail without the rail planner assuming I want the rail to connect to the elevated rail. I hope that won’t be an annoying issue.
Max Payne 3. After running consistent crashes on chapter 6 (I think?) I decided to play it on PC using a completed save file I found online. I was a bit annoyed with how Rockstar stores their save files but I eventually figured it out. Turns out I was literally a minute away from completing the chapter.
I managed to finish it and I’ve moved on to Cyberpunk.
I’ve also been playing The Sims 3. I want to try to create a world free of lots and any kinds of spawn points and place a family and see how things go when you essentially break the game and need to buy fridges for apples to plant, travel through time to get seeds, or flirt with the mailman to expand your family tree.
Fine with me. Dyspon sphere program does the whole build up instead of out thing and I don’t like it as much. I think satisfactory started the trend though.
Me too, wish it was for making game play easier instead of an arbitrary game play mechanic that forces you to play a certain way. I am happy that factorio is very easily mod able, and you can install mods that expand or remove limits on players.
It’s nice to see Cyberpunk is in the list of games adding support in the future. DLSS saved that game and is the only thing I miss about NVidia after switching to the 7900xtx…
Both nvidia and amd sees CP2077 as a game to showcase tech now. The only irony is that imo, its actually of the weaker games for specifically DLSS/FSR as its the one game due to it having the most severe ghosting problem, regardless of version
Actually, a surprising number of areas with doors or fast travel between them don’t need it. The entirety of New Atlantis’s exterior is a single cell. Same with Neon
It’s just a clunky reskin of fo4 with no depth. I’ve put about 50 hrs in at this point & will probably continue for a bit because it’s a comforting loot cycle that pleases my lizard brain. It really lacks the feeling exploration possibilities that Skyrim & fallout worlds have. The bugs, UI, bland emptiness, and shit tier maps are why I wouldn’t recommend…but is a decent time kill if you’ve enjoyed their previous games
Same, I pirated it to give it a try, put in a few dozen hours to make sure I'm not missing anything but left pretty disappointed tbh. It has a strong interesting opening but the more you try to get into the nitty gritty details, the more shallow and flawed the game becomes until you're just doing chores for the sake of it. Some people find enjoyment in these chores but it ain't me, maybe in a few years it becomes better. I got phantom liberty instead and am having a blast there instead
When I say opening / beginning I don't mean the 20 minutes of prologue, I mean the first ~5 hours of game showing new mechanics and worlds to you, making the illusion that there's lot of unique fun content to do. Eventually it all started to look like same formulaic shallow crap to me and the game didn't live up to that initial impression of freedom, exploration and progression, it's half baked in everything.
The game didn't open up for me until about 8-10 hours in and felt really weird and restricted during that time. No idea what impression of freedom, exploration and progression you're talking about here because the beginning does not give you anything like that at all with how it makes you follow the very boring main quest.
Same happened to me, I pirated it to try it out and after an hour or two I got bored and called it quits. I returned to it once more but after maybe 5 hours I just uninstalled it.
Yes, and he’ll do the old “force austerity to temporarily drive up profit margins for a quarter or two, then once it’s clear the next quarter will be crap, sell all of the stock that was awarded (auspiciously with a very short vesting window, if not just given outright)”
Typical bs, probably worth shorting this stock over the next year or so
He has 0 salary, he isn’t getting paid for any of this. Hence the end of the letter. You obviously didn’t even read it.
I expect everyone to roll up their sleeves and work hard. I’m not getting paid, so I’m either going down with the ship or turning the company around. I much prefer the latter.
No shit, he’s an activist that bought in and turned the company around when it was being run into the ground by consultants working for short sellers. He owns about 15%
Now compare that to executives with no personal stake in their company, making millions in salary and not giving a fuck about anyone else
What’re you even talking about??? Epic takes a revenue share of every game made with unreal engine, plus Fortnite runs exclusively on mommy’s credit card and is still insanely huge. Even if the epic games store doesn’t take as big a cut of every sale, they’re held by daddy Tencent who’ll probably kick em some lunch money if they’re actually desperate.
This. They’ve been burning money trying to give games away for free to entice people to their platform. It’s quite possible they have a cash flow problem. That they just layed off 900 people definitely supports this idea.
I doubt it. Fortnite alone probably covers all of those free games and then some, it’s an insane cash cow. Add to that Unreal Engine revenue and they’re not hurting at all for money.
Layoffs just means they probably finished the bulk of UE5 dev and are seeing softening revenues with the COVID spike being over, so they don’t have as much demand to get that and related projects done sooner. Amazon and other big tech firms have done similar layoffs, and it’s not because they’re losing money, but because they’re seeing an end to the crazy growth in the gaming industry due to COVID-19 demand changes.
So no, I really don’t think Epic is hurting for money, they’re just cutting costs to improve margins now that revenue is likely falling.
Epic Games is a privately owned company, thus we don’t know their financial state. We don’t know which debts they have and what ventures they have undertaken over the last few years. They might have huge debts and Fortnite might not be enough.
Sure, it’s possible, but I think unlikely. This sounds like the normal BS reasons companies give when their investors want better margins. I’m guessing Tencent isn’t happy with profit margins and wants a better short term return for their stake.
But you’re right, it’s all speculation at this point.
