The way I understand their description, they really want emergent stories rather than any written plot, so I wouldn’t expect any kind of specific objectives from it.
Interesting, but as any procedural game, it will be a difficult balance between believable, consistent simulation and unexpected stuff keeping things exciting.
I don’t need much. Shadows of Doubt’s objective is “solve this murder”, and for this game, maybe it’s “amass a ton of money so that you can X”. Just something to propel me forward to come up with a way to achieve it, because I won’t be a baker for the sake of being a baker, probably.
Why even bring up Bethesda? Obsidian made one game for them for a development cycle of 18 months. It’s weird to use their new game as an opportunity to claim Bethesda couldn’t make a game like this.
Eh, I thought I was being funny, my attempt failed. I was poking fun at Bethesda because they’ve put games that were either bland or watered down like Skyrim, Fallout 4, Starfield for example. Avowed feels fresh and interesting to me, I’m excited about visiting the Living Lands and experiencing that story.
Don’t get me wrong they have made some real watered down-ass rpgs (i have never been more hyped than i was for fallout 4 and was massively let down lololol) but it just seemed like a weird place to bring it up.
Inb4: all nostalgia hype, solid core gameplay, nothing new or groundbreaking, F2P multiplayer, battlepass grindfest. Bonus points if it’s an open world.
Microsoft has become all-too predictable and I have absolutely no faith that this game will be anything greater than Halo Infinite
I‘m so looking forward to this. And I really hope that their [the devs] efforts pay off in terms of sales numbers. It‘s a great game with a great story and it needs to be accessible to new players :)
This didn’t even look like an Assassin’s Creed game when I first saw the trailer during the showcase today. That’s a good thing, btw. This almost feels like an actual fresh approach.
They had some actually fun mechanics in Odyssey and then they drove every single one of them off a cliff in Valhalla. We’ll see what they do, I suppose
Honestly I wouldn’t mind if the actual game artstyle was like this. Dragon age franchise hasn’t been dark fantasy since DA2, and inquisition hasnt been pretty schizophrenic when it comes to the tone. Might as well go with it and embrace the camp.
