Nintendo Confirms Backwards Compatibility for Switch Successor! angielski

This is Furukawa. At today’s Corporate Management Policy Briefing, we announced that Nintendo Switch software will also be playable on the successor to Nintendo Switch. Nintendo Switch Online will be available on the successor to Nintendo Switch as well. Further information about the successor to Nintendo Switch, including its...

caseyweederman,

Nintendo’s got a pretty good track record.

caseyweederman,

What game’s that goblin from?

caseyweederman,

Okay I’m hooked. Except… Runs are way too short? I just start feeling like my build is coming together (matryorbshka relic, summoning orb, damage dealing orb) and the run just abruptly stops. Are there only the three maps? Is there no looping endless mode? I want to ride that high for a while, you know?

caseyweederman,

Also the pop-up description on the “multiball” mechanic is that ball level increases the number of balls but as far as I can tell, that only applies to the Matryorbshka ball, whereas all other multiballs just increase attack damage or crit damage.
That’s a really minor complaint but I wonder if they rebalanced it and forgot to edit the text description.

caseyweederman,
caseyweederman,

Excellent point. But also, these things absolutely will bring the strongest computer to its knees given a long enough time or a large enough embark area.

caseyweederman,

We got that in Cadence of Hyrule.
Rift means more Baronowski, which is always good.

caseyweederman,

Gnu’s Not Unix Image Manipulation Program

caseyweederman,

And Final Fantasy Legend II isn’t even a Final Fantasy game!

caseyweederman,

One time I died on turn zero failing to mount my horse and hitting my head on the stone stairs.

caseyweederman,

Dang. I can’t tag you “slime mold” because that’s apparently a paid feature on my app. jdawson, is this what finally makes me switch apps?

caseyweederman,

Hello from Voyager! It looks like it doesn’t support tagging either. The voyage continues.

caseyweederman,

Jerboa doesn’t do it either, or else I just can’t figure out how.

caseyweederman,
caseyweederman,

Reddit Sync is very expensive

UPDATE: Here is the final design of the Humorless Toaster, that this wonderful community helped me pick yesterday! (Needless to say one of the previous versions was unintentionally problematic) (lemmy.world) angielski

Thank you all for contributing, here is a link to the original post: https://lemmy.world/post/19721257...

caseyweederman,

It was deliberate. For those arriving here without context, one of the previous examples unintentionally looked like Hitler.

caseyweederman,

Notably, the Steam version is a port of the iOS version, making it a HUGE step down from the DS version, which combined the anime cutscenes from the PS1 version with an absolute wealth of new systems and features.

caseyweederman,

I’m in the same boat.
“OH MAN THIS IS SO COol I can’t wait for the rest of the content oh it turns out I can”

caseyweederman,

MAGI MOTHERFUCKING NATION
It had every right to take over the monster catching market back in the early 2000s. Cartoon, GBC game, trading card game, they had it all, and they wrapped it in a super cool dark comic fantasy setting with actual plot and raised the target audience by a couple years to grow along with the kids who were all crazy about Pokémon.
Well, the trading card game just had a successful crowdfunding campaign and THIS GUY just bought a bunch of the old cards to introduce my kids to the world.

caseyweederman,

I think that’s exactly it. You’re excited by the promise.

caseyweederman,

Goldeneye (1997), Perfect Dark (2000)
Perfect Dark was a great game, but the multiplayer was a copy/paste of the game whose engine it was built in, no?

caseyweederman,

Right, but… It totally revolutionized a thing that already existed by applying incremental improvements?
Oh, cooperative campaign would be very substantial, wouldn’t it? And you could play as her sister.

caseyweederman,

Oh dang, I hadn’t heard about that one. I’ll have to check it out.

caseyweederman,

A Supergiant game in Early Access is more finished than most fully-released triple-A titles.
Plus, as with the first Hades, they work the continued development into the narrative of the game.

caseyweederman,

We’re getting a Magi Nation revival too. It’s a good year.

caseyweederman,

What! But they did absolutely nothing to prevent that!

caseyweederman,

I don’t really get that argument.
We did get Breath of the Wild. It’s right there.
“How fucking amazing it was to play them” but… What? What part of the amazing experience was ruined, and by what? What would have been substantially better if the graphics had been slightly better?

What games do you recommend for my girlfriend? angielski

My girlfriend has never really gamed. But she’s now forced to move less than she would like to (health problem) and she’s getting bored. I was thinking of introducing her to a game or two that we could play together. She’s not the real action game type, and seeing as she has no experience with controller/mouse and keyboard...

caseyweederman,

Seconded. Nice and chill, with just a touch of coming-of-age parents-aren’t-invincible melancholy.
Using A Short Hike as a jumping off point and following the growing-pains and melancholy threads while maintaining the explore-and-talk aspects, I’d like to recommend Night in the Woods.

caseyweederman,

This but third-party. I love my 8BitDos.

caseyweederman,

It works so well I’ve done it several times! On the same joycons.
Speaking seriously, DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN. Those ribbon cables are super brittle.

caseyweederman,

ohh nooo, games that are actually fun

caseyweederman,
caseyweederman,

Don’t think of it as a Switch 2, any more than the Wii was a GameCube 2, or the NDS was a GBA 2.
That said, I personally think the Switch was a realization of what the WiiU tried to be: blending handheld and console, exploring motion controls, and solidifying online play with titles like Splatoon and Super Mario Maker.
The Switch itself experimented with VR with the Nintendo Labo headset, bringing VR modes to Super Mario Odyssey and Mario Kart, Smash Bros and Breath of the Wild.
They really could have pivoted strongly into VR, since the biggest barrier – the hardware buy-in – was already out of the way.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the next console picked up where the Switch left off there.

caseyweederman,

Same here as well. It’s the first game that came to mind.
It doesn’t help that there was so much hype about the storytelling.
Maybe the story’s great compared to sports games and Calls of Duty? I finished it, more out of confusion than anything else.

FlippyDrive FIRST LOOK! Solderless Modchip For GameCube! (www.youtube.com)

This mod adds an on-brand menu to the GameCube where you can play ROMs off of an SD card. The coolest part is that it piggybacks off of the disc drive instead of replacing it! And no soldering! I’m a big fan of passionate retromod projects like this.

caseyweederman,

I can just close my eyelids and imagine that I’m playing any game

I love getting more use out of my old consoles.

caseyweederman,

Fewer, unless you’re measuring steps in volume, as in “these steps go up to eleven”

caseyweederman,

That wouldn’t be a product, though.
This must bypass protections, or it wouldn’t offer any advantage over the existing microSD card slot.

caseyweederman,

Don’t cartridges have unique IDs though? They could just start disabling cartridges by ID and banning any accounts that run them.

caseyweederman,

Wow, Quern looks fantastic. I’m gonna check that out.

caseyweederman,

There’s got to be a notepad overlay feature somewhere. There’s no way there isn’t.

caseyweederman,

There is on Steam. If Oculus locks that down… Well.
