Random Screenshots of my Games #12 - POOLS (lemmy.world) angielski

I’m jumping into psychological horror today, with a walking simulator called POOLS. This game has no jump scares, no monsters. It’s just dark (and sometimes bright), liminal spaces that give you an eerie, creeped-out vibe, themed around indoor pools with unnaturally dark waters. The longer you walk through this maze of...

ytsedude,

Personally, I think TLG was rated pretty accurately. I wanted to love that game, but it was so frustrating. Beautiful. Haunting. So, so frustrating.

I agree with you on SotC, though! I loved Ico, too.

ytsedude,

Well, time to start a new farm. Again.

ytsedude,

Holy shit! The amount of work that went into this…

ytsedude,

Balatro on my phone?! I’m screwed…

ytsedude,

Agreed. I loved MGS3 on the PS2 and would love to play this remake, but Konami can go fuck themselves if they think I’m going to support them after dropping Kojima and so many other developers like dead wright.

ytsedude,

True. That was some shit.

ytsedude,

Dude, Captain America ain’t got SHIT on when that Martian finally goes “Ack!”

It Took Me 6 Hours to Learn Anything in Stormgate - Day9TV (Professional Review) (www.youtube.com) angielski

I wanted to share and highlight this video for others to see. This is such a thorough and amazing resource for the dev team at Frost Giant (the makers of Stormgate) that I hope they have seen. The breakdown and walk-through of the different elements of the game was such an amazing thing to watch....

ytsedude,

God I love Day9. I don’t have as much time to watch him like I used to (before wife and kids), but I’m glad he posts streams to YouTube.

This is off-topic, but the video of revisiting his Amnesia playthrough made my freaking year.

I agree with your post, though. 99% of the time, Day9 has an amazing grasp of how to communicate ideas and mechanics clearly. It’s that 1% that just kills me! 😂

ytsedude,

Oh, really? That makes total sense! Was Math his bachelor’s degree?

ytsedude,

Ha! Love it. This game is so silly and stupid and awesome.

ytsedude,

The title makes it seem like they’re putting these pics on the Steam page. Or at least that’s what it seemed like to me.

But they’re actually sneaking these pictures into these capsules you can find in the game. Normally these capsules have screenshots from other players’ games. Now players have found screenshots that are from the sequel (presumably). That’s really cool!

ytsedude,

OMG, I would lose mind over remasters!!! The story, writing, voice-acting, and design were all amazing. Gameplay was OK. Maybe they could give that an upgrade!

ytsedude,

Aw man. Sorry to hear that. What a voice and performance, though! I can still hear him in my head.

ytsedude,

Yeah, I think this looks beautiful. I like the idea of catching those wind streams and flying/floating around. Definitely keep an eye on this one!

ytsedude,

Cool! So are the cutscenes fully stop-motion or are they computer animated? I can’t tell…

ytsedude,

Minecraft. I know it’s a big company now or whatever, but back when it was just Notch, it was still completely captivating.

Also, Stardew Valley!

ytsedude,

Here is a trailer that explains what the game actually is. Looks fun and cozy!

ytsedude,

God, this looks so amazing. I’m excited to pick it up!

ytsedude, (edited )

If Nintendo being “one generation behind once again” means I get more games like Breath of the Wilds, Mario Odyssey, Metroid Dread, and Tears of the Kingdom (just to name a few of the incredible first-party games this generation), then I’m fine with that!

ytsedude,

That’s true, but using older, less expensive hardware had almost always been part of Nintendo’s business model. A cheaper console allows them to invest in game development–time, talent, and just money. If they used cutting-edge tech, they would have thinner margins (or even lose money on the console at first as Sony and Microsoft have done in the past), which would give them less to invest into game development. Nintendo spent an entire (extra) year just tweaking and polishing TotK; if they had thinner margins from the Switch, there would probably have been more pressure to release it earlier, which would have given us a less refined game.

I’d love it if we could have both great games and cutting-edge graphics, but at the end of the day, I’ll still take good games every time.

ytsedude,

I’m one of the six or seven Mac gamers out there…

Cross-platform play currently isn’t available for me and my PC buddies until the Mac version gets the full release build next week. If the PC version is on patch 2, will that still be compatible for cross-platform play, or will we forever be playing catch up?
