If you roughly convert your hourly salary, how much money did you spend working on this game?

And that’s why I can’t take online activists seriously. 100% of agenda, 0% of brain.

I want to live in a world where that is a problem worth making videos and writing essays. I guess some people are too bored.

Sir, this is a text forum. At least provide a bullet list with key takeaways.

cheddar,

That’s good, I didn’t know they have that. Thank you.

I think the original has a better atmosphere, you have to drive between the missions instead of being teleported to the location, which inevitably works towards the immersion. But it also an early 00s game, sometimes it can feel too hard or frustrating. See it for yourself if that’s what you want.

80% of the game is:

  1. Go to location A.
  2. Kill everyone.
  3. Go somewhere else.
  4. Wait until the boss comes to location A.
  5. Go to location A again.
  6. Kill everyone again.

Most locations also look the same, they reuse the same church/warehouse/car shop model. It’s boring and repetitive. Watch the story on YT.

I remember it was fine when I played it 14 years ago. Not as good as the original, but quite enjoyable. The remaster is comically bugged though, at least on Xbox.

I wont stop criticizing that.

When did you start? Because that’s low-effort trolling irrelevant to “your point”:

bUt sTeAm iS mY gOd! hOw dArE yOu!!!

I don’t even have time to finish games longer than 10 hours in reasonable time. 20-30 hours of gameplay and not ready for getting out of early access? Waat?

They could stop charging gamers a subscription to play the paid games (they “own”) online.

This is one of the key reasons why I own PS5, but I don’t play or invest in it. Even though couch gaming is much more comfortable for me.

If cosmetics weren’t important to players, people wouldn’t spend money to buy them. We are human, we care about looks, that’s why companies make so much money on cosmetics. So yes, it is important enough to dislike predatory microtransactions.

Devs should not be "forced to run on a treadmill until their mental or physical health breaks", says publisher of Manor Lords, citing how gamers seem to be trained to expect endless content work now (www.eurogamer.net)

This really does not sound healthy. The game is released, for a certain amount of money. If people don’t like what they get for their money, they simply should not buy it....

Is it bloated management who complains on social media and forums?

cheddar,
@cheddar@programming.dev avatar

Yeah, that is exactly what somebody who is planning to announce Switch 2 would say.

I doubt they will. Ninendo is not fighting with PS and Xbox, and it surely has no reason to fight with Steam Deck and other powerful portables. They found their market, and they are extremely successful at what they are doing. One does not need super hardware to create wonderful games.

My favorite recent example:

…steampowered.com/…/Banishers_Ghosts_of_New_Eden/ (50 EUR)

playstation.com/…/banishers-ghosts-of-new-eden/ (60 EUR)

PS5 game on sale did cost 2 EUR less than the regular price on Steam. I don’t think Steam overcharges me. It’s not like the game is cheaper somewhere else on PC either: …epicgames.com/…/banishers-ghosts-of-new-eden-f9e… (50 EUR)

cheddar,
@cheddar@programming.dev avatar

Yes, but they sue Steam that has competitors selling games for the same price instead of literal monopolies. Even Apple was forced to open up to other app stores.

I’m not sure what to feel about this. I’m a huge fan of the series, but I’ll wait for real reviews from real players.

Wow, pay extra 30 EUR to play 2 weeks earlier and avoid spoilers. I might just as well pirate it.

I used to play TF2 a lot in my school years, but today I find it too intimidating. I’ve never been good at competitive games, and I’m even worse in my 30s :D But I like the idea that TF2 is still alive, people are playing, and I could return at some point. Alas, with the alleged development of a new hero shooter by Valve I don’t expect them to pay real attention to TF2.

cheddar,
@cheddar@programming.dev avatar

Same for me with Ghosts of Tsushima. I haven’t pirated a single game in 15 years. It’s crazy that Sony doesn’t sell a game in a EU country for God knows what reasons.

cheddar,
@cheddar@programming.dev avatar

Every time I head about TF2, it has issues with bots. Which is sad. I don’t play anymore, but obviously there are people why enjoy and love this game to this day.
