This is bonkers. I already liked the demo and and I’m still blown away by the fact that they achieved that amout of graphical fidelity using the GZDoom engine.
That’s the expansion by the Voidpoint people who didn’t leave a good impression with some of their hurtful “jokes”. Personally, I’m not looking forward to it but it’s the closest thing to a new Duke3D, so some people might be interested.
Edit: Got to a point that I could look it up. My favorite part is where the devs felt so strongly about their god given right to call people f**s that they said people should just pirate the game instead. Awesome. Not completely disgusting at all.
As always all gaming drama is so stupid and overblown, just like the wizard game… I loved the first one, if people try to boycott this over some past controversy I’ll buy extra copies to gift to friends LMAO.

At first I thought, “Oh cool, they’re showing what the game used to look like before they reveal the new graphics.” But that is what the game looks like…? I mean, the before and after comparison footage looks completely identical, doesn’t it? It’s October 1st, not April. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills.
I went to watch the video with very low expectation after your comments and yet I was still really disappointed. It looks worse than the original to me, because it lost that early 3D look due to higher res textures here and there and now it’s just hideous.
Well, this class overhaul is one of the biggest things they’ll have done. Crafting is in and helps a lot. They’ve also worked out most of the bugs, and if i remember correctly, you can play solo now?
On a different note I just watched a very similar video that was recommended to me by a pretty much unknown creator about the importance of indie developers and pretty much everything Alanah says here shows how important they really are. To imagine where we would be without tiny indies breaking the mold… it sends a shudder down my spine. ‘Indies > AAA’ has been my way to go for many years, now that I think about it.

I was not aware of that. I’m not the biggest fan of the Build engine, so I was never anything more than barely aware that the game exists. Had I’ve been initially interested in the original, such “jokes” would have put me off as well.

The successor is done by a different studio (Slipgate Ironworks, who are also doing the RTS Tempest Rising). The original team (Voidpoint) works on the expansion for the first game. I hope Slipgate isn’t using Voidpoint’s “joke” template.
