I still think $70 is too much for a release of a remake or any new game for that matter. Tho I only pic games up. Now adays on sale anyways. But it’s still the principle of the thing.
I’d be okay with $70 for this if FeMC was included, as that would mean a lot of branched content. They’ve said there will be (and shown) added content to make up for it, but that could shake out to being an extra two hours in the end.
I’m glad the UI and battle transitions look slick, though, if only to put the fan narrative that no one’s making quality turn-based JRPGs to rest.
It would seem so to me. When there’s a big disparity across the ratings - positive and negative are similar on metacritic with little in between - it raises a lot of red flags to me.
Not sure if it’s evidence of organized review bombing. but yeah, it seems like most people are just being as extreme as possible because they know it’s a scale of averages.
For PC, game optimization is very inconsitent. When I’m in a smaller space like a dungeon or the Constellation Lodge, it’s actually pretty great and runs smoothly. When I go into the city though, the framerate is terrible. The graphics also become significantly worse. So yeah, wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of those negative reviews are from PC players having to deal with Bethesda jank again.
It's reasonable to expect high framerates in 2023. If people want the game to run smooth there's nothing wrong with that. Hell, doom eternal was a Bethesda game and it looked gorgeous and ran like butter, so we know they can pull it off.
A lot of people also seem to not know that you can’t just spend 80% of your budget on a graphics card and buy whatever CPU you can afford with whatever is left.
I have a 3080 and the game runs noticeably worse in the cities than it does in small rooms. And that's with everything at low-medium and 75% rendering resolution which seems ridiculous. And the game doesn't even look that good.
I dunno, TLoU2 definitely got it harder but there’s still that massive gap in middle range reviews (see image) that made me question it with Starfield.
Its more of a paradigm shift than a need for innovation. There’s a lot more solid bodies to work with. The animation workflow might actually be less of a task because of that. Less dangly bits until you get to Tyranids. Everything is a ranged unit first. Instead of line battles with clashing melee units, siege battles with constricting maps and city scapes should be a lot more common. The real problem I can see them having is adjusting the pace of the units. 40k has things zipping around the field. The battles should be more rts like than the slow and methodical clash of lines.
Whatever they do I’m pretty hyped about this. All the Total War games have been a staple in my library since Medieval 2. Despite all the trash that CA has been up to the past few years they still make good games. I think having a fresh slate with a familiar enough adjacent setting will be good for them.
I fill like the line of sight think in warhammer total war was more link with maps than engine. It was less an issue in Empire, Napoleon or Fall of the Samurai. Since, they added “smog”, and the need to not flat terrain … and the dumbziness of direct hit unit. With modern building, it should not be an issue.
I do relate on the tempo; I couldn’t imagine how to deal with thousands SM engaging at the same time. I’d rather smallest and intense fight (like in DoW II or World in Conflict), or a way to program actions and reactions of units. I do not see how it would be feasible with the mechanics they made.
However, their making for Three Kingdoms were brilliant, so maybe …
I don’t really believe this. This just seems like someone lying about the situation after they were caught. He’s still making himself into a victim, rather than just showing the money was donated and moving on, leaving himself out of it.
My biggest issue is that he spends a long time explaining what was going on, but at the time when it was happening, he didn’t mention any of the stuff he brings up now. Its like he is updating the autopsy report after the fact. If he was contacting these charity groups like he says he was, why did he not provide at least his initial contact emails? When it comes to charity, I don’t see why anything would need to be proprietary or secretive, so their response could be included as well. Even including messages about the alleged infighting about who and where to donate to. That would have cleared everything up instantly. But that’s not what happened. He also doesn’t include any proof of this new explanation backstory.
To me, this just sounds like “Sorry I got caught, here is an explanation I came up with later that includes zero proof of any of it happenening so you’ll just have to trust me bro. And I finally donated the money like you all wanted, see? I was actually the Good Guy and Victim all along!”
Maybe I got it all wrong. But this does not seem genuine to me.
This was brutal to watch in an already grim reality of 2025, but an important one. This is not just a remote, 3rd world problem (as if that was an excuse) - this is how our AAA games are made.
PSVR2, you cannot buy replacement parts. There are a number of flimsy parts on this device, bits of plastic that can deform. Once that happens you are out of luck if you aren’t within the warranty.
There’s also an extended Gameplay Reveal on WoD’s Youtube Channel. I haven’t had a chance to watch it yet, but the trailer hasn’t blown my mind. That dialog interaction looked so flat. Still, VtMB 1 had its own share of jank.
I’ll still reserve judgement until I can get my hands on it.
One of the beste games i’ve ever played.
I remember that I played at 2x Gamespeed, lowgrav and Instagib for so many nights. Thanks for the good memories
Was just thinking the same. A happy trip down memory lane. We used to do quad jump + low gravity + instagib. There was some capture the flag map that was great with these mods. I can’t remember the name now though.
