MysticKetchup,

Whoof, it’s now moved to “Overwhelmingly Negative”

Reviews repeatedly mention that it is hilariously buggy, to the point where players are constantly running into visual and gameplay bugs. Also a few complaints about features being changed/removed from the first one to be more similar to popular FPS trends

Day 50 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I’ve been playing until I forget to post Screenshots (lemmy.world) angielski

Today’s is a pretty Simple one. the Game is Project Zomboid. I usually don’t like sharing 2D games because they’re hard to make look presentable, but i also like sharing images that break out of my usual “Here’s a Landscape shot” and wanted to share this. Me and My friend had a cookout in a motel we have a Base in....

MysticKetchup,

Played this years ago but couldn’t quite get into it. Maybe I should try it again to see if it clicks

MysticKetchup,

Card Crawl/Card Thief/Miracle Merchant are good puzzle-like games

MysticKetchup,

Boy this legally distinct gothic horror themed game that shares nothing in common with a popular Sony franchise sure looks like a fun time

What are some eras of gaming that you've stopped feeling nostalgic for? (kbin.social) angielski

As I've gotten older as a player, I have found myself dropping some eras of gaming that I used to be nostalgic for. One of them is the 8-bit era, the NES days. I have played some of the best that system had to offer and I will never say that system didn't have any good games....

MysticKetchup,

Not so much as stopped feeling nostalgic for, but realizing that there weren’t as many great games available as I thought that haven’t had better successors or remakes. And for Nintendo consoles, non-Nintendo games that stand the test of time are difficult to find outside of a few franchises that usually have more modern versions on Switch.

We are just spoiled for choice these days when it comes to games, especially with indie games. And indies these days often have better UX than most mainstream games back then.

MysticKetchup,

It’s not pixel art, but does Muramasa: The Demon Blade count?

Not sure if it’s RPG-y enough, but Katana Zero does sort of match that kind of style

MysticKetchup,

Oh I see, so more horizontal movement style games? Maybe Moon Hunters?

I feel like a lot of stuff like that is probably going to fall into the roguelike category. But as a fan of RPGs roguelikes always bug me because I need progression. Soulslikes such as Hunt the Night or Duel Corp might be better, but based on your description that’s probably too much on the action side and not enough on the rpg side

MysticKetchup,

Worse, since if you tip through the game you’re almost certainly just giving that money to the execs

MysticKetchup,

Yeah sorry, I went with the auto generated title but probably should have done some editing on it for clarity. I think the game looks neat but it does feel like the site was trying to hit as many SEO words as possible

MysticKetchup,

Sounds really cool, though still very light on details. I also hope it’s playable solo since it feels so hard to get a group of 4 people together as a working adult

MysticKetchup,

Haha yeah, I’m just getting to a point where I’m old and don’t want to make new accounts for things

MysticKetchup,

BOTW ruined Zelda for people like me who enjoyed the dungeons, unique items and narrative progression of older games even if it was a great game for open world fans. Pokemon is even further removed from that action-survival gameplay so it’s not hard to see why people would want new games to be similar even if the current formula is stale.

MysticKetchup,

Never underestimate how much people want to see a trainwreck up close. Of course, pirating is free, I doubt many people want to pay money for a trainwreck, so not sure if Denuvo is really going to save them from losing actual sales

MysticKetchup,

It’s very much not just “same animals” but parts of Pals looking like they were traced or at least copied visually from existing Pokemon, as well many Pals directly copying color schemes from similar Pokemon.

MysticKetchup,

To be fair, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with using Pokemon as inspiration, and even when not the fact that Pokemon is so ubiquitous means that comparisons will be drawn regardless. But there’s definitely more than a few Pals that seem to cross from inspiration to a suspicious amount of copying, and it’s more about wanting to support artistic integrity than it is about Pokemon specifically.

MysticKetchup,

I doubt they can unless Palworld literally stole models from Pokemon. While some of the designs are pretty blatantly copied, if they can’t prove the devs copied directly from them there’s not much of a case

MysticKetchup,

Data is surprisingly cheap. It’s more than likely just reinvesting any profits into growth to boost stock price/investment. A lot of companies are hitting the point where growth is leveling off, so they’ve switched to cutting costs

MysticKetchup,

First and foremost, This is kind of a rant. I do not like horror games. I have never played any ‘strictly horror’ ones before. And yes I get scared easily.

Lethal Company is a horror game. Sure people find a lot of funny moments in it, but it’s still mainly just a horror game. If you don’t like the horror bits, the rest is just going to be boring for you. Don’t feel like you have to force yourself to like it just because everyone else does

MysticKetchup,

As someone who loves Jurassic Park and really, really wants a game like this, really hoping that the devs can pull this off but licensed games are very hit or miss

MysticKetchup,

Sayonara Wild Hearts, not surprising since the entire game is full of beautiful music

youtu.be/PULwDISWun8

MysticKetchup,

It’s survivorship bias. You’re looking at the success of Tarkov but you don’t hear about all the games that failed because they weren’t on Steam.

MysticKetchup,

Depending on how you feel about Minecraft, Vintage Story might be something like what you’re looking for

MysticKetchup,

This trailer looks so good, I remember seeing the game earlier and it looked cool, looks like it’s time to set what it’s about

MysticKetchup,

It’s not a super descriptive term for sure, but I have no idea what it would be called otherwise. It’s similar to things like Metroidvanias or Soulslikes in that it’s a very specific niche without a clear delineation of what it is, but fans will know it when they see it

MysticKetchup,

It’s kind of a nebulous definition, but typically they’re games in which you have a variety of options and systems to complete objectives. So things like Deus Ex where you can stealth, fight or hack your way through the plot. Usually the games will have a robust amount of physics or interaction with various objects so there’s always a variety of things to do in a level.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: The Teal Mask DLC Review - IGN (www.ign.com) angielski

For starters, I don’t know how it’s possible, but somehow The Teal Mask runs worse than the base game of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet does. I complained about the poor performance of Scarlet and Violet in my initial review, and had hoped that a whole year later Game Freak would have made improvements to things like framerate,...

MysticKetchup, (edited )

Super disappointed, I held off on buying S&V because of the technical issues but had assumed they’d be ironed out later. Doesn’t look like I’ll be getting it anytime soon

MysticKetchup,

Oooh, I was too young for the originals so nice to see them bring them back. Also as a child of the 90s I love the classic campy badass Lara over the new younger realistic version.

MysticKetchup,

Japan has always been notoriously avoidant of PC games. Most Japanese devs only worked on consoles and mobile games kicked off way earlier over there so the casual PC market never caught on. That much momentum is probably hard to change

MysticKetchup,

Starfield sounds like an okay game but all the PR responding to complaints sounds like an absolute disaster. Stop letting Todd answer these things directly

MysticKetchup,

Mugen just means infinity in Japanese so it gets used for a lot of things

MysticKetchup,

The above post isn’t saying that Larian or other devs shouldn’t make games like BG3. It’s saying that we shouldn’t expect the massive amount of content and options in BG3 for every game

MysticKetchup,

I mean, we didn’t have nearly as much social media back then and a 24/7 news cycle that causes random tweets to be blown up into IGN articles. I think the initial tweet was just a random thought that got spun way out of proportion

MysticKetchup,

That’s normal, if you understood it you’d hate it even more

What are some RPGs for someone who doesnt like most RPGs angielski

Hey everyone! I’ve been diving into RPGs lately and wanted to share my thoughts and seek recommendations from fellow gamers. I’ve found myself resonating with Scott the Woz’s viewpoint on random encounters and grinding, but I do make an exception when the combat system is truly exceptional, like in the case of...

MysticKetchup,

The World Ends With You (or the sequel, Neo: The World Ends With You) is an action RPG that does away with random encounters. Battles are initiated by you scanning for enemies and picking fights in your own, you can even lower your level or string multiple fights together for more rewards. The original is 2D (and best played in a DS/2DS/3DS but if you don’t have one there’s also a single-screen version on Switch) and the sequel is 3D on Switch and Steam.
