Lmao someone in the comments said they were sold a used one (at brand new price) straight from the manufacturer.

Then someone replied to them saying basically, “that’s on you from ordering from the manufacturer instead of a trusted store like Amazon. I had no problems with them.”

No Man’s Sky, but they vastly redeemed themselves.

Niedawno kolega nauczyciel opowiadał mi, że uczniowie, którzy na lekcji mówili, że są libkami, najebali się na wycieczce szkolnej i wyszło na niej, że są naziolami. :)

Unpopular opinion, but I enjoyed the hell out of Redfall. It wasn’t what most people wanted from Arkane and I completely agree, but it was still a lot of fun and didn’t deserve all the hate it got. It isn’t perfect and had a ton of bugs, but the scores it received made no sense and it seemed like it was just fun to jump on the hate bandwagon.

TwilightVulpine, do gaming w What difficult games/game challenges did you give up on?

Dark Souls and souls games in general. But the difficulty is just half of it. I have beaten hard games before. The problem is that everything is so bleak I can't even feel motivated to try. I'll do a thing only for some NPC to go "it doesn't matter, everything is pointless and you're so insignificant". Inevitably being spoiled I know that even the single optimistic NPC is not getting it great. Y'all can mope, I'm gonna put my effort where it's appreciated.

The bleakness is why I assume the “age of dark” endings are the good ones. They’re the only endings that also end all the suffering of those fucked up worlds. The only weird one is Elden Ring. You can end all suffering, but it’s presented as the worst possible end for that particular game.

It’s so interesting how tastes can change everything. The bleakness in the souls games is intoxicating to me and keeps me coming back. I imagine it has something to do with psychology

pjnick,

You might want to try Lies of P. All of the highlights of Dark Souls combat and if you play your cards right pretty much every NPC gets a happy ending.

It’s free on Game Pass right now too, if you have that.

TwilightVulpine,

I just might. Some fights were infuriating but so was Hollow Knight and I love that game. As long as the conclusion makes it worth it.

sic_semper_tyrannis, do gaming w What are some good games that have a bad reputation due to unreasonable expectations?

Maybe No Man’s Sky. I’m not too sure what people think of it now a days but it had a massive turn around since launch

Stillhart,

Yes, NMS was overhyped and completely failed to meet expectations. But it was also complete garbage on release. 7/10? Not even close. It’s one of the only games I ever bought on physical disk that I returned because it was so bad when it wasn’t unplayable. That wasn’t a problem with expectations, that was a terrible fucking game.

fushuan,

Sure, but this post is not about 7/10 games on release, it’s about 7/10 games now vs their perception now.

JoMiran,
@JoMiran@lemmy.ml avatar

Eh. NMS is unfair because it is literally a different game today then when it launched.

TwilightVulpine,

Sure but still today there are people who say it is too shallow and dull, and at that point I think they are just expecting it to be fundamentally different.

TwilightVulpine,

Absolutely

To be fair, originally it utterly failed to do most that they promised and I don't blame anyone who felt burned because of that and gave up on it,

But today, it does some of the craziest stuff that it promised that at the time sounded like pipe dreams. The planets are some crazy and different some of them seem downright surreal. I made a base on a planet with a landscape made of stained glass crystals. The animals are wild and weird. Getting to learn to communicate word by word with multiple different alien species is pretty cool. The dynamics of trading are pretty interesting. Raiding derelict freighters is creepy. And you can play all of it with your friends.

When people say it's shallow, I wonder if they didn't even try to bite into it or they are expecting custom story content in every planet. I have played it for hundreds of hours and I didn't even finish the main story quest. Each aspect of the game has a lot to offer.

Because of that I'm also really looking forward for their new game.

AliasAKA, do games w Has any of you ever tried the "Ragnok 2 gun mouse"? If so, how good is it?

Eh, I’d personally just get a more ergonomic vertical mouse, wired if you need the absolute lowest latency. Much easier to come by and they’re cheap. I used an evoluent I think it was wireless mouse for DotA2 when I played it ranked years ago, and I found it more than capable to climb the ranks with it. I also have a Logitech gaming mouse, for comparison.

Some vertical mice can easily be found on Amazon or anywhere really. Logitech makes one (it’s okay) and a few others as well.

Conversely, if just looking for more ergonomics, you could try a hyperlight mouse with a good gliding wrist wrest.

@southsamurai@sh.itjust.works avatar

There is zero point to that beyond the looks. You can get mice with better ergonomics. maybe if it had some ability to be used like a gun in fps games, it would make sense. But as just another mouse? It isn’t even a good gimmick.

Lol. It does look great for carpal tunnel/RSI. I’d definitely buy it if it didn’t have such a 'murica gamer kiddo vibe.

Hitman.

Fuck the always online shit, but since last time I played they added a rogue lite mode. "Just kill randomly selected NPCs on existing maps" doesn't sound mind blowing (and occasionally a level feels kind of trivial), but the "die and they're on alert, die again and start over without your gear" format combined with limited access to gear really does give a fresh, high stakes feel.

Heratiki, do games w Has any of you ever tried the "Ragnok 2 gun mouse"? If so, how good is it?

It’s very much a gimmick. I’m 45 yrs old and was able to mess around with it at a friend’s house. It takes a lot of getting used to for it to become useful and accurate in games and will make any other game you play become a struggle. So if you ONLY play Warzone and don’t do anything else with your computer then sure go for it. You’ll need to “reprogram” your brain to use this mouse for the games you currently play and it’s really only a fun gimmick for shooting games.

IMHO: It’s just more plastic garbage and while a fun gimmick it would last about a month before becoming something you stuff in a drawer and likely never use again.

I started playing No Man’s Sky lately, in VR. I played it closer to it release in the past and it couldn’t captivate me, but now I’m kinda in a tumultuous period in my life and the simple gathering mechanics make for a calm passtime.

rozwud,

It’s so relaxing! Often I like to have an edible while I play that one.

Zworf,

What do you mean by an edible? Something to munch on?

rozwud,

Nah, the weed variety.

Zworf,

Ahh lol… I didn’t think of that. I can imagine that helps :)
