toxicbubble, do games w Dragon's Dogma 2 brings back all the joy of Capcom's 2012 cult hit with few real changes

haven’t played much but the original felt a little uncanny, like the characters have no personality. otherwise, one of the best combat systems, customization, & controls i ever played. could do without the climbing mechanic, it takes some getting used to but feels like shadow of the colossus in a way

mojo, do games w Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty review: perhaps the best expansion pack ever made

Uh I’d not say that about any expansion lol

Jimbabwe, do games w If you like short, steampunk SNES-style RPGs, give dystopian freebie Franzen a shot

Just finished my 300+ hour play through of BG3, so something short and snappy to fill the void sounds perfect!

CypherColt, do games w Starfield players are being haunted by asteroids

Quantum Asteroid? Outer Wilds style!

ArchmageAzor, do games w Scientists use Age of Empires 2 to investigate how ants wage war
@ArchmageAzor@lemmy.world avatar

Has there ever been an RTS where you command an ant hive vying for control of the backyard? Looks like prime real-estate to me

Sim Ant beat you to the punch on that idea by about 30 years

ArchmageAzor,
@ArchmageAzor@lemmy.world avatar

If there’s not been another contender for about 30 years, I’d say that market is still open

Cant compete with perfection

archon, do games w Dune: Spice Wars review: a compulsive 4X that both nails and wastes its source material

I bought and played it a bit some months ago. It’s an interesting RTS/4X blend with the “realtime with pause”. For me the game wins in originality, with some novel systems I didn’t see before.

Not super memorable, but a nice change of pace if you want a middle ground between Civ and C&C. Buy on sale (was not so pricy either iirc).

toxicbubble, do games w Google, Netflix, Apple and Amazon are the "barbarians at the gate" of the games industry, says ex-Sony boss

i imagine Netflix games would end in a cliffhanger then cancelled before a sequel, google games will track your usage for personalized ads, apple games will eventually require accessories & dongles, amazon will slowly buy smaller studios & become the next EA

bfg9k, do games w Starfield Steam Deck performance report: a frontier too far

I barely get 30-45fps at 1080p with an rtx 2070, not surprised the Deck is struggling.

BruceTwarzen,

That is just the Bethesda experience

entropicshart, do games w Diablo 4 Season 2 will put fun before balance, but "we want every build to be viable"

I’ll come back to Diablo after about a year when they stop fucking around and actually have a fun game.

Hopefully that will be enough time for them to stop the kneejerk nerfs and milking players for every penny.

SnugZebras, do games w Quake 2 remaster released, includes Quake 2 64 and new expansion

Fuck yeah! Quake 5 when?

NuPNuA,

Also, get Quake 4 on Xbox back cat on ethe Activison deal is done as they’ll have access to Raven software then.

elleyena_rose, do gaming w ConcernedApe teases what's coming in Stardew Valley's 1.6 update

Definitely excited for more Stardew content - especially a new festival to explore!

strongarm, do gaming w Vampire Survivors meets Diablo in Halls Of Torment

Great game

djsaskdja, do games w Overwatch 2 is charging you for the PvE it didn't cancel

I don’t get it.

flowrette,

OW2 was announced as free-to-play and would shut down the original Overwatch servers with it. However, Blizz had said that OW2 would come with a PvE mode (which was highly requested with Overwatch). When OW2 released, the game released with no PvE mode but the promise that they’d add it in later. In May, Blizz announced that the PvE mode had been cancelled altogether. A week or so later, Blizz reversed the decision to cancel the PvE mode. Now the PvE mode is coming and it’ll cost $15.

So, just more Blizzard being incredibly shitty. As always.

ivanafterall, (edited ) do games w Peter Molyneux thinks generative AI is the future of games, all but guaranteeing that it won't be
@ivanafterall@lemmy.world avatar

Is this bean magnate Peter Molyneux!? He makes games now?

Vesker, do games w Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 has been delayed again, this time until the first half of 2025

Wow, this title can’t catch a break. Though given how little of the game the developers have shown off, this isn’t too surprising honestly. I just hope this delay will be good for the game.
