To be fair, “it takes one to know one” kind of applies here. I played a whole heap of D2, right from the launch.
I was one of the dumbasses who paid for the base game, and the two abysmal DLCs to follow, and then for forsaken.
Forked out only for all of the content to be either made free to play / taken away and ‘vaulted’ (not that anyone would really miss it).
Friends would keep telling me to hop back in after every expansion and I genuinely wonder how their rotten formula can still keep such a wide audience invested.
That was ARK for me. Despite running on Linux like garbage I still put 3k hours in. They ruined a favorite mod after taking it over from the community dev. 3k hours more.
I was the same way, it took the absolute clusterfuck of called Ark survival ascended to get me out of the loop. I love the game and it’s definitely a fuck you see you tomorrow Style game but I just can’t in good face purchase the new game after everything they did
Definitely ark. Once you get a nice community server with ORP mods and adjusted rates it’s great. But still spent 200 hours on loading screens trying to get the damn thing to work.
A friend recommended Medieval Dynasty. It has a few bugs, but overall I’ve been addicted like I haven’t been for a long time. “Have been” addicted because after 60 hours the initial rush does get dimmer, but I still like playing the game.
You live in a medieval world, where you settle down and build your own village, chopping wood, hunting, gathering, farming and mining. You can also convince hobos to settle in your village and help you with chores.
The story has you finding out what happened to your uncle after he left. You find out he has led an astonishing life via lots of funny conversations with his former friends. The game has quest dialogue you actually want to read. Cudos to that alone.
I’m trying to get into Daggerfall. I probably wouldn’t have got past character creation without a guide, and I died an embarrassing number of times in the intro dungeon, but once I got to town and figured out how to pick up quests things started to come together. We’ll see how far I get.
I hear KSP 2 is good now that they added career mode. I’ve been holding off getting back into KSP just because of the time suck factor of it. But might have to check it out again.
Babbdi weirdest game I’ve ever played. Can’t even explain why it’s enjoyable. It feels a bit like that sad junk drawer every house has, but the house is in communist goulag.
Yeah I've been really enjoying the building in single player but I'm beginning to feel like I need to hit up multiplayer to get as much as I can out of the experience as it is now. I wish they would release a road map
Ark. The original anyways, I refuse to buy 1.5. It was a poorly optimized piece of shit full of broken crap yet I couldn’t stay away. That is, until, it became so bloated I couldn’t fit it on my SSD anymore.
The only saving grace on it was that if you were on private servers that were mostly PVE, you could just capture them all in cryopod and then you only had to log in like once every two or three weeks instead of every 3 days cuz all you have to do is generator
I did all my time in single player because if I got to some dumb unoptimized/bug I could cheat my way back because fuck them. I too will not buy this BS 1.5 either. They had their chance. I’m still bitter that instead of fixing the base game they got dollar signs in their eyes and just started releasing dlc.
Everyone was pissed when they started putting out DLC in a busted ass early access so they just went all ‘mission accomplished’ and said the game was done.
It’s one of my favorite games of all time. But choose a wrong setup and you’re screwed. Don’t get anything before heading out you’re dead. Attack a peasant, dead. Go in that cave, dead. Get winded before doing anything, dead and frustrated.
Brew a bunch of Fortify Intelligence potions, drink them, brew some more, repeat. Later make Fortify Strength potion, gives 1000+ strength for over an hour, one hit kill everyone.
Not the same thing. Abusing rules (or code bugs) is “cheating legally”. You can also make a spell that does Soul Trap to self + fortify attribute and said attribute will be permanently fortified.
If I recall correctly you meet a guy who did that with agility (or was it acrobatics?) just after leaving Seyda Neen. It didn’t end well for him.
(Also, I haven’t played that damn game in probably over two decades; how the fuck do I still remember that town’s name…? How the fuck do I still remember Fargoth…!?)
Scroll of Icarian Flight. It boosted acrobatics. AFAIK, there’s no way to make a spell or potion boosting a skill, just the 10 attributes. So the few jumping scrolls are all that you can get.
Also, a note about unexpected consequences. Boosting your strength to ridiculous proportions can cause your weapons to basically explode after one hit.
