Pika,

I’ve been the same way with my switch, I haven’t touched it for probably a year and a half outside of a short bit when tears of the Kingdom launched where I replayed some of breath of the wild and a small portion of Animal Crossing, I agree

They had been falling for at least 4 years now, I had already strayed from doing anything on the switch from lack of appeal, but their crackdown on dmca with the yuzu Community was the final straw for me, I didn’t even use the emulator myself but I’ve always heavily embraced emulation and the ability to Tinker with stuff that you purchase and that just didn’t sit right with me.

It was also around that time that I actually read into what happened with Gary Bowser, and that made me sick to my stomach, because it was essentially the equivalent of Prosecuting a cashier for the crimes that the CEO did.

Honestly even if they were still prospering I wouldn’t recommend the products, it’s hard enough to recommend their product to customers in the first place due the platform restrictions and the fact that they just keep regurgitating the three same IP over and over again, and that’s without the active hostilities towards their fanbase

Pika,

The latest Mario games have seemed to been quite meh for me, like out of watching gameplay of them anyway. Legend of Zelda though I’m not a Zelda fan but dang was tears of the Kingdom fun to watch, almost made me break my boycott on their products, thankfully though they’ve issued like three rounds of dmca since which has firmly solidified my decision.

Pika,

I think the answer is because they don’t believe they need that market, they were obviously okay with losing that market share in the first place due to the fact that they put the requirement in there. As their announcements have said, requiring a PSN account is something that gives them more control over abuse (and ofc data) and allowing more players that are in countries where they are not currently allowed to have those accounts are counterproductive to what they are currently driving for

I’m not surprised they didn’t reverse the region locks they believe it’s something for the best and that’s not something that the consumer is going to be able to change, regardless of the reviews or protest, worst case scenario for them is they just go back to being fully console exclusive if the PR pressure gets too bad

Pika,

This type of review bombing is actually against steams terms of service for reviews in the first place, they’ve stepped in a few times now to hide campaigns like that, I expect they will do the same with this one. Basically it’ll keep the recent review metric but, it will hide the reviews from the historical and the overall metric. So worst case out of this will be it has a negative recent reviews for awhile.

your last sentence is actually the exact reason they implemented that policy and they moreorless quote it in their forum post where they talk about how the new system works

Pika,

I usually ignore video only posts, but the cover art actually caught my eye, this is one of the few times I actually watched the video and that game looks absolutely sick. Instantly wishlisted to keep tabs on it

Gameplay mechanics were also a lot better with more replayability. (lemmy.world) angielski

Ignoring the lack of updates if the game is buggy, games back then were also more focused on quality and make gamers replay the game with unlockable features based on skills, not money. I can’t count the number of times I played Metal Gear Solid games over and over to unlock new features playing the hardest difficulty and with...

Pika, (edited )

It takes two is actually one step further, only one player had to own the game. It takes two had what was called a friend pass which as long as you weren’t the host of the game allowed you to play with any other player that had already purchased the game. So despite the fact that it was forced Co-op either split screen or online, only one player had to actually buy the game.

In this day and age it blew me away when I learned that because it’s just unheard of now.

Pika,

AAA studios are making crap games recently, the more middle grade ones that absolutely rocking it.

Pika,

thankfully it lets me know what studios to avoid unless it becomes an internet sensation, but I think the AAA/AA studio thing is something the studios started with.

Pika,

Ark Survival Evolved; only game that I say “fuck you and I’ll see you tomorrow”

Pika,

I was the same way, it took the absolute clusterfuck of called Ark survival ascended to get me out of the loop. I love the game and it’s definitely a fuck you see you tomorrow Style game but I just can’t in good face purchase the new game after everything they did

Pika,

The only saving grace on it was that if you were on private servers that were mostly PVE, you could just capture them all in cryopod and then you only had to log in like once every two or three weeks instead of every 3 days cuz all you have to do is generator

Pika,

I share your opinion on both of those games. I also was not a huge fan of Monster Hunter or GTA,

Pika,

Not the person you’re responding to but I definitely think that Library should be able to be made, however I don’t believe that they should be able to prevent a project from going open source in the case of company using the library going under, or if they wanted to keep it closed Source they should have to do something similar to what class action lawsuits do where anyone that is affected by it and opts into the agreement get some sort of compensation. Because it really is like a rug pull you buy a product and then the company makes the product unusable

Video game actors speak out after union announces AI voice deal (www.videogameschronicle.com) angielski

According to SAG AFTRA, the deal will “enable Replica to engage SAG-AFTRA members under a fair, ethical agreement to safely create and license a digital replica of their voice. Licensed voices can be used in video game development and other interactive media projects from pre-production to final release.”...

Pika,

Honestly this would be a good method. Limit AI voice acting to only single use NPC such as Town folk when you visit a town and then have like shopkeepers or party members or the main character actual voice. You aren’t expecting much out of those temporary characters anyway so them having weird Oddity voices isn’t going to be super jarring for the environment. Plus it will help you as the player realize which characters are supposed to be part of the story and which ones are there for just Scenic effect

Pika,

I love that the website has a mobile format, but thd content is like “what’s mobile?” and text is just everywhere

Pika,

Are these 10 mobile games? Last I went on Netflix all they had was mobile garbage.

edit: looks like GTA is on there so maybe there will be something decent

Pika,

here’s to hoping they don’t scrap a perfect story half way through again like they did in sub 2, I loved the original pre-release story, then they scrapped it for the boring one it is now

Pika,

I feel the same way to be honest, with the current question I did it all the way through and I was at odds end of what I could ask it aside from just straight out asking if it’s a specific type, third question in was the exact one that you spoilered out and yet I wasn’t even able to get a general ballpark of what it was in the next 17 questions.

Pika,

I bought new world, never actually played it, I had tried the beta and said well this seems cool and got it then never played it at launch

Pika,

They can defend their recent PlayStation Rises all they want, it doesn’t change the fact that it cemented my decision(and I’m sure I’m not alone) to cancel their subscription in favor of Microsoft based competitors. They can say it all they want but they cannot fight the fact that game pass is just far superior in content(and even that’s expensive af now) and the only thing they really had going for them was their exclusivity single player based games and those just haven’t been there on the five. I say this as being a solid Sony fan since the PS1, I’ve gotten every one of their consoles because I preferred their controller layout and menu design(of which both are now worse), I regretted buying this generation without the choice increase in PlayStation Plus, the decision to up the pricing only drilled that mindset home.

Pika,

For me this is a hard toss up between Pizza King too and the Submachine series, the Submachine series is an amazing escape/puzzle style series that has a really good story

and Pizza King 2 is the best management style Pizzeria Simulator game that I have found to date, many of those management style games focus more on the cooking aspect than the management aspect but this one takes the cake with being an actual management Sim instead of a cooking

Pika,

I understand he’s mad that he’s losing money of a thing he made but, I think he’s going about that the wrong way. I would see that as more of a challenge then a “wow I shouldn’t do this”, I expect any person doing stuff like this would look at it the same way, free cracks and exploits are rarely about the money, it’s generally about the challenge of doing something that isn’t supposed to be allowed. Adding “mines” to try and sabotage it I believe will just make someone more apt to try and crack it.

whats your unconcious sign that you really really like the game you are playing angielski

So i just noticed that when i really like the game at some point i will at once play the game and watch the stream/youtube wideo of the game( usualy speedrun or aome hardcore challenge). I noticed it recently with anno 1800 but now that i think about it i did that with tales of arise, eu4 ,kings bounty, total war, hades and...

Pika,

This, I had this with shenZen i/o, I would solve the solutions in my sleep then never remember them when I woke!

Games consoles are infuriatingly exempt from California's otherwise important new right to repair bill (www.pcgamer.com) angielski

California, the biggest state in the US when it comes to both population and the sheer volume of tech companies squeezed into its borders, has just passed the country's most extreme right to repair bill in the US (via Ars Technica). It's the third state to pass such a bill, but goes further than either Minnesota or New York in...

Pika,

game console for sure, as the rest of the have the capability as well but it’s general focus is gaming.

Pika,

I supported it but, I stopped playing, not enough to do. Graphics are insane but, little to no actual content aside from ships that you need to pay real money for. The constant dB resets prevent me from ever really grinding the game, what’s the point of it will just reset next major update. I personally think the game is going to flop due to this.

Pika,

No, because at least bluestack’s has decent support. There is only a handful of games actually supported by this, whereas bluestacks supports most games.

I mean technically I guess it’s an alternative… but it is a super crappy one.

Microsoft’s Xbox Series S Parity Demands Are Now Handing Sony Free Wins (www.forbes.com) angielski

At the start of this console generation, Microsoft made a surprising decision. Rather than split its consoles between disc and digital-only like Sony, it actually split them between power level. The Xbox Series S was cheaper, but lacked the horsepower of the more expensive Series X. It was meant to be a bridge between...

Pika,

I think you are misreading, they are refusing to launch because of the feature parity but, that’s because they are consciously deciding that split screen is a hard requirement for the game to launch, whereas with other consoles(steam deck) they just removed split screen and called it good.
