Psythik, do games w Starfield has some beautiful landscapes!

Beautiful landscapes, boring gameplay.

Goronmon, do games w FTC fails to redact Microsoft document, revealing an old Bethesda release schedule

Are you sure it was the FTC and not Microsoft that posted the materials incorrectly?

x4740N,

Why do we keep linking that shitty elon musk website, we’ve had news about how horrible a person he is yet people keep linking twitter and giving him traffic

Sir_Simon_Spamalot, do games w Sabotage Studio initially projected sales of 250,000 copies of Sea of Stars in the first year. They hit that target within just a week.

This game is so hyped. How good is it really?

Dremor,

2 hours in. It is quite good. I have no regrets buying it.

Clipboards,
@Clipboards@lemmy.world avatar

1hr and some change in. I’m loving it so far

rolaulten,

Honestly? It’s enjoyable. Some of its predictable, some of the dialogue is brilliant, and sometimes the combat is a slog (or just not balanced well - especially early on when you don’t have a lot of options). I do wish it had branching dialogue options but that’s just me. Oh and the art is top notch.

Penta,

22 hours in. Still really fun. Don’t expect anything groundbreaking in terms of story though.

Skyler,
@Skyler@kbin.social avatar

I just finished it yesterday. Verdict? Super fun, gameplay is great, looks beautiful, has a retro vibe. The story... is okay.

curiousaur,

It would have been a lot better with 3d graphics and cutscenes, and a full voice acted cast of NPCs. That’s basically the baseline now.

AgentGrimstone,

8 hours in, it’s pretty good. I think it’s one of those games that just came out at the right time.

johnlobo, do games w Noooooo you can't make a microtransactions free game and finished too 😭😭😭

this “dev” are really dumb.

deweydecibel, do gaming w Madden should not be 70$

Counterpoint:

You, and everyone else, should be making enough money right now that a $70 price tag isn’t a problem.

Wage stagnation makes price increases seem worse than than they should be. Truth is we should all be making enough that a few bucks increase in the price of Netflix or YouTube shouldn’t be something we struggle with.

So by all means, pile it on at EA, but save some of it for your employer too

Haui,
@Haui@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

I get your point. It’s absolutely crazy that people don’t srike en masse for better conditions but then you got people thinking fuck you I got mine.

But I also think that while this is true: EA still is pretty much the worst and needs to be disbanded for controlling large parts of the market and extortionist marketing techniques.

wirelesswire, do games w Damage, Dodging, and Defence: POE2's early access got things backward

The best defense is a good offense. Enemies can’t hurt you if they’re dead.

The other side of that coin is dead dps is no dps. If you can’t survive, you need to learn mechanics and/or adjust your build so you can survive better.

Keeping both of these lines of thought in mind, offense usually wins out over defense because killing faster results in more enemies dying, faster clear times, and bigger numbers, which most people tend to prefer. Defensive stats/skills lose value when they’re not being used, where offensive stats/skills always have value.

SolidShake, do games w What game is this?

Gemini image search says:

The image features a character named Lotide from an unreleased video game. Additional information regarding Lotide: Lotide is a furry, orange, raccoon-like character wearing a blue and green outfit. Lotide is holding a fan made of leaves. The character appears to be in a forest or grassy environment. Lotide is also the name of a British electronic music duo. “Low tide” refers to when the sea reaches its lowest level.

Someasy,

🤔

eth0slash0,

I got this. Lol

The image shows a character named Lemmy, likely from a video game.

Additional information: Lemmy starred in the 1992 video game Motörhead for Commodore Amiga.

He also appeared as an unlockable character in the 2009 game Guitar Hero: Metallica.

The character design for Eddie Riggs in Brütal Legend was modeled after Lemmy Kilmister.

Motörhead performed “The Game” live at WrestleMania events.

brsrklf,

I like how it thinks it is likely from a videogame, but somehow, it’s absolutely certain it has the character’s name.

And then a bunch of facts about famous videogame character Lemmy Kilmister.

SkunkWorkz,

This is what ChatGPT says:

This is “Raccoo,” the main character from the indie 3D platformer Raccoo Venture (developed by Diego Ras). In the game, you can unlock different outfits for Raccoo—one of which is the blue, Eastern-inspired costume shown here, complete with the little floating lantern companion.

At least it’s a real game

I would argue that late SNES era games look far better than their early 3d era follow ups

ShaggySnacks,

Late 16 bit games had to lean into distinct art directions which allowed them the stand the test of time.

tbf I went from Wii to PS4 and shit a brick

pjwestin,
@pjwestin@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, but the Wii was a very underpowered system, and it didn’t even have HDMI. That transition wouldn’t have been as stark going from PS3 to PS4.

A_Union_of_Kobolds,

Horizon Zero Dawn was a stunning game, I did pretty much the same

I’m kinda annoyed bc my 2 BFFs JUST got PlayStations like for Xmas. I’ve been on PS4+PS5 for a long while now and played both Horizons for free. I really wanted to tell them to give Zero Dawn a whirl just to show what the PS5 could do with it… but for full price? Eh… I’ll leave that up to them.
