I felt like going back to swtor. My main account was disabled, expired or something and I can't recover it without calling some dumb schmucks working for EA support.
Went in on a secondary account I used to bypass the character restrictions and now I'm scratching the itch until it finally dies for good.
It has a daily login reward, some kind of battle pass, everything is paywalled, limited number of rewards, they changed character creation and unified classes, but pvp is active.

Overall, I don't recommend it.

I get nostalgia for it every now and again. A week of playing and finding no friends or fun kills that itch fast.

Planetbase, it doesn’t take long to figure out but I’m trying to unlock the other more challenging planets at the moment which just takes time.

I’m on the lookout for challenging survival management/city building games if anyone can recommend one? Something like Banished, This War of Mine or Frostpunk.

Warjac, do gaming w Lemme show you how its done

Always loved that the second I was doing better than they were or just got to a further point than them they’d rip the controller away and say something like “I got it I got it, stop hogging the game!” Then would cry and scream if I beat it for them because inevitably 12 minutes later they’d ask for help again and no amount of showing them would help them figure it out.

Kids are fuckin stupid.

I think you mean "the alcohol cabinet is stocked and so are the retro games". Legend of Zelda, here I come.

Any recommendations?

Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal are probably the kings of this for me. Metal: Hellsinger too but that’s a rhythm fighting game

Chronographs,

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance does this the best imo

TommySalami,

RULES OF NATURE!

*Throws a whole-ass Metal Gear"

boringbisexual,

I should get back into Metal: Hellsinger. Such a good game

makeshiftreaper,

It’s kind of dumb but honestly fun as hell if you can find a working peripheral: DJ Hero honestly still rips. The music rocks and you can change the music on the fly

On a more accessible side Hades does a good job increasing in intensity as things get more chaotic

kebabslob,

Like a Dragon/Yakuza. Its not dynamically adaptive, but you definitely feel the soundtrack and they sync really well to fightsz. It also is synced perfectly to boss intros!

Yukito01,

Nothing beats suddenly hearing the big monster’s theme morphing into Proof of a Hero when you are close to winning in Monster Hunter.

Raphael’s Final Act from BG3

Probably the best track in any game considering the boss you’re fighting is literally singing it while beating your ass

Thassodar,

Frostpunk and Cyberpunk do it pretty well.

AdamBomb,

Nier Automata

x4740N, do gaming w A decent potion could revive this!

And here I am wondering if that stone cooking table thing would work in real life

zout,

It might blow up if there's the smallest amount of water in it.

x4740N,

I own a pizza stone so I’m very careful with that

troyunrau,
@troyunrau@lemmy.ca avatar

Depends on the stone. The coefficient of heat flow in stone is very low, so the heat will take forever to flow through the stone. But it should be quite evenly warmed at the top in a few hours if you keep feeding the fire. And it would be more or less immune to flare-ups and other issues.

However, you’d need to use a big slab of granite or something with more-or-less uniform properties, zero porosity (so no moisture or air bubbles are expanding or flashing to steam), and there’s still a chance that fast heating or cooling causes it to crack.

Or just use a metal slab with a pizza stone on top.

I remember how ocarina of time blew my mind how big and open the world was. Seemed like I could play the game forever with the massive open world.

The game feels so hilariously small now. I’ve never gotten past the first ancient beast in botw because I just run around climbing stuff. I need to commit to finishing that game.
