blanketswithsmallpox,

Black Mesa remake looks so good. I just picked it up for $4 on Steam. It was nearly 30 damn gigs lol.

blanketswithsmallpox,

inefficient

Right… however ANY efficiency when already using a rig for an idle game is literally more efficient, hence why I wondered.

Also it wouldn’t matter whether the mining benefits the owner or user. In reality if the user wants to try with the CPU, they’ll be making $1 for every $20 wasted in power letting their computer idle hard. However that’s still $19 rather than $20. You could at least give the creator the crypto rather than yourself if it’s free which is kinda my point.

It’s literally a case of I’d prefer nobody benefit rather than someone else.

blanketswithsmallpox,

Right… Hence why idle games draw significantly more power than when a computer isn’t running it.

This is about idle games. Not a PC at idle.

blanketswithsmallpox,

This isn’t about a computer on idle… This is about a computer running a game non stop that people think is Idle… When it’s not. It’s often running a game doing massive number calculations regularly. Sometimes showing hundreds to thousands of separate things on the screen constantly.

I think a lot of the comments here just don’t seem to understand how many resources an Idle game can actually take up lol.

blanketswithsmallpox,

Yeah I was mostly thinking of it as some clever way to mine. Somehow linking the mining engine into the gameplay itself. That’s a proper point though when just looking at the efficiency side of things.

blanketswithsmallpox,

the game runs slower.

Yeah… hence the point of an idle game.

blanketswithsmallpox,

Red Dragon keyboards and mouses > that expensive shit.

blanketswithsmallpox,

I’ve had good luck with both a wired and wireless version so I can’t say much about that.

Fwiw I’ve use/d a K551 and K552 keyboard, M801p mouse, and a M601 mouse the later of each got handmedowned to my sons. 2021, 2017, 2019, 2015. The K552 is used as a toddler toy…

All of them still function great so I guess ymmv.

blanketswithsmallpox,

A lot of early access stuff popping lately. I’m seeing Enshrouded a bunch too.

Please don’t let there be a mass early access thing again. Waiting two years for a complete game ruins the fun sometimes.

I could see why PalWorld would do it early though before the cease and desist letters come en masse from Nintendo.

blanketswithsmallpox,

It just always feels like you lose so much of the cultural zeitgeist when the game goes full release.

Slime Rancher. Eventually Valheim. 30XX. My Time At… it’s like a tepid glass of water rather than hitting that nice ice cold cube glass like you’re trying to get in my pants.

blanketswithsmallpox,

Yeah but at least you got to touch Becky’s tit and make out with her that one time. So at least you had that going on for you… Which is nice.

blanketswithsmallpox,

It took me way too long playing games to realize what the cursor was back in the day lmfao.

blanketswithsmallpox, (edited )

Agreed. I could completely understand why Gamefaq FAQ creators stopped though.

It’s A LOT of work. For no payoff besides name recognition and being a good guy. If there were community built GameFAQs sure, but they’re by author. I’ve never seen a community based Walkthrough in the classic text based only format.

blanketswithsmallpox,

Yeah I’ve actually had to resort to this a few times with Armored Core 6 specifically. It seemed like Wiki sites just didn’t have the detail for each spot, but did have generalized information for each mission for example. But the extra tidbits for each just straight up wasn’t filled in. I’d google, find a gaming website which had some info, but literally not all of it. It was also in the classic ‘recipe’ style bullshit website where you get through 3 full screens of fluff before what I needed.

I decided I’d help where I could but it came to me after playing two more games in that time that EVERY free wiki site had the same issue. I just don’t remember that problem 3-5+ years ago.

blanketswithsmallpox,

Do you actually keep ads on, on purpose? I know people turn Ublock Origin off for certain creators for youtube, but browsing the internet at large would definitely be a different experience.

Wiki sites are free too so they’d have to be ad riddled…

blanketswithsmallpox, (edited )

Yeah I remember seeing an article about Baldur’s Gate 3 having a wiki being unique.

Simple fact is that hosting costs $$$. And you don’t get something free unless there’s ads involved or you’re so small you can cover the cost yourself.

blanketswithsmallpox,

Even that feels sketch though. Most of the actual info I really needed had less than 10,000 views. Usually more in the 2-3k range which makes jack squat on Youtube dollars.
