I’ve already noticed that I’m pretty sure the Echoes are meant to be spots from the OG and I’ve already spoiled the secret with the photos too. I’m really excited to see more. The team really put a ton of care into it
Would prefer ff6 in this style, imo the greatest final fantasy ever made, moreso than the overrated ff7. FF6 deserves some love, the music, the story, the combat and blitz mechanics, the scale of it all is just so damn impressive for a 2d jrpg.
I was just thinking about the blue shell. It’s given to someone in 7th place, but it doesn’t help them get ahead. It just shuffles the order of the first 3 players.
Sonic &AS Racing had a much better blue shell: A player that’s behind gets the “Hornet Swarm”, which places a network of traps at the front of the pack, slowing down ALL players by a bit. You can navigate it if you’re skillful, and if the first player hits one, the others have fewer to deal with. And of course, when the thrower reaches it, they lift up for them.
By the way, I took these three screenshots in order during my gameplay. While reviewing them later, I thought they were hilarious out of context. Enjoy!
That’s so cool, I almost forgot this game had a PC version. I uses to play it a lot as a kid, but I only 109%'ed it a coupleof years ago on the Wii. I guess it runs using Proton?
Yeah it runs pretty well in Proton. I’m using the Heroic launcher. I had to Use Wine-GE to run the installer, otherwise it kept failing. After I installed it I set it to use the latest Proton-GE. It runs just as good as it does on Windows.
Damn I remember playing it all the way through and unlocking that special character. I think they were white and had an arched back or something? Shooting spikes or pellets or something
Any sweet deals lately? Sometimes I miss the days of adding batches of random shovelware games from BundleStars and HumbleBundle to my Steaming account for pennies on the dollar
They have 30+ bundles listed at the moment and I’m sure some of them are great but I’ve unsubscribed from their notifications, they’ve lost some focus and quality control from when each bundle was a notable event.
You can still customize it, but it has hard minimum at what I think is $7. The old humble had no minimum at all. They also deceptively set the “default” cost 1 tier above the actual “get all the items” cost for bundles. A very irritating and obvious dark pattern.
Just IGN brutalizing a beloved name in gaming via enshittification to make its money back.
I think they’d already lost their way a long while before that.
They started as indies grouping together to get visibility, at a time when Steam still curated every game and accepted maybe 4 games a month (yeah, hard to imagine today. It’s still hard to be noticed, but for the opposite reason). Back then they distributed only DRM-free games too, with eventually a Steam key option.
At some point they opened their own store and started including big publisher games, and really became just another store, and mostly a key store too. They spew some bullshit about not being specifically a DRM-free store, but really “DRM-agnostic”. “We don’t restrict publishers’ choice of DRM, they can be DRM-free if they want!”
And I’m like, dude, it’s not a stance, Steam technically doesn’t either. You may need the client to install but plenty of games don’t run on any DRM, not even Steamworks.
