2006 is a bit late in the game. Game magazines as a relevant medium peaked in the 90s. By 2006 you have a pretty robust internet, what’s the point? Yeah, sure, if you stick them in every single B&N they’ll sell, but Game Pro and Nintendo Power were institutions in the 90s. If you wanted to know about games, that was the way.
Fair point! Looks like Nintendo Power had well over a million throughout the 90s and Game Pro sat around half a million. GI didn’t start until 1991 so it would’ve been significantly lower, but it started getting pushed harder by 2000.

Honestly I mostly just know because I have a big stack of old Game Pros and Nintendo Powers from the 90s and I only ever remember seeing Game Informer in Barnes and Noble once those became a thing.
Same here, back in the 90’s had multiple year’s worth of Nintendo Power magazines & later on Game Pro as well. I do remember seeing Game Informer around & sometimes bought those issues but never really got into them. I can’t even think of any friends that had Game Informer magazines back in those days.
TBH I’m kind of surprised at those numbers /u/GammaGames@beehaw.org posted, maybe Game Informer was a bigger thing outside of the northeast U.S. where I was.
It was mostly distributed by FuncoLand, and only really started to pick up when they included it in their Fan Club subscription. B&N bought them in 2000 and pushed it hard while expanding stores, eventually they got big enough that they could get exclusive reveals.
So it’s a case of pretty much always being bundled in with another service!

I can’t believe somebody would type this for serious. First the jump between talking over text to rape is quite a long line in between. It is like us two disagreeing and me murdering you. And rape means non-consensual sexual intercourse. And given the age of 17 years, even if they would have consented, it wouldn’t be rape, as the person has enough emotional and sexual maturity to understand what it means. Thanks to resorting to personal attacks, but I am bothered so much by this, because this situation makes shitty behavior as in cheating on his wife almost the same as actual rape and abuse cases. And that takes away resources in prevention and investigation where it is needed. I grew up with the Michael Jackson smear campaigns and social media just proliferated this type of abuse.
Twitch con was in California. And in the legal sense, almost an adult is a minor. So yes, this is a crime. And immoral. And worse than cheating. And yes, I’m ok with personally attacking pedos and those who defend them.

I was a big Arkham fan so I watched a whole playthrough.
I enjoyed watching all the cutscenes. Great voice acting and motion capture. Writing felt alright to me but the overall story was kinda lame and the ending was terribly unsatisfying due to the need for it to remain open ended. The gameplay seemed like it’d be fun for 3 or 4 missions.
Overall it looked like an average game weighed down by corporate bullshit, which was obvious from the previews.
I guess I also missed the part about being a phone peasant. Not having a gaming PC and not having ANY PC are different. Personally, I’d rather have a bargain bin PC to play indie titles then a console.
I wish the way FromSoft makes DLCs would be the standard in the industry. I know their model doesn’t work for every genre of videogame, but I love that they actually put a lot of work into one or two DLCs and focus on a new game after releasing them. It doesn’t feel like they take a part out of the base game and sell it to you for extra cash. They never sell day one DLCs and usually the DLC is the best part of the game (at least for me). FromSoftware is the only company I preorder games from and I’ll happily preorder this DLC.
My observation since the very first Dead or Alive from the 90s: People having problems with bouncing boobs in games are more nasty than those who actually enjoy them.
