Yeah, goes back a ways! I feel like it has a knack for resurfacing after I’ve completely forgotten about it. I like what I’m seeing here with the gameplay.
You used to get lootboxes just for playing, progressing hero, having good endorsement, none of that came back. Or the grindy 10 levels past battlepass that only give you useless name tag, not a single lootbox and it’s more grindy than entire battlepass.
We’re only paying a measly $70 for the Switch 2 version. Just get a third job and be grateful for the opportunity to purchase the DLC at $20. Then you can use the last of your hundred dollar bill for that one tech demo game!
I’ve been a huge Zelda fan since I was a kid, but I played BotW in 2016 and found it playable, but way overrated. Not a 10/10 masterpiece, more like 8/10. I have yet to even bother with TotK. I am also a huge Metroid fan, but Prime 4 seems like just more of the same.
After playing both KCD and KCD2, for example, Zelda games just seem lacking in depth in comparison. I don’t know, maybe Nintendo is past their prime—either that, or I’ve just played too many of their games and am bored of them now.
The fact that they seem to be screwing the pooch with their latest console maybe means they’ll stop being arrogant and lower their prices, but I’ll be emulating their games only from now on anyway.
Ya not sure if I’ll ever get a switch 2. I played the living shit out of my switch 1. Easily was my favourite console… Until I got a steam deck. Instantly I have over 1,000 games purchased already and a hefty percentage of them playable.
…not to mention the switch games that are still sitting on my shelf that I just play on here instead.
I’m sure I’ll move on at some point, but I’m currently running maybe 30 mods on civ 6, and they are mostly QoL. Parts of both gameplay and UI are just poorly thought out even to this day. So I was expecting the new game to be released in a state I’d dislike. It might take longer to improve than I thought, though.
I feel like this game suffered from releasing in an unpolished state. Its competition is Smash bros, which is incredibly polished but has bad networking. Even with smash’s issues though, it felt way better to play than this did. They could have fixed all the issues, but the first taste I had of the game was negative, and I just don’t feel like it’s worth my time to go back.
With so many games coming out, I feel like the first impression is more important than ever, but more and more games are instead releasing in a poor state with the idea of fixing it later if it makes money.
Perhaps the reason is more simple. When did we have a non-indie platformer title well received by the mass? I don’t think people want a combo of “platformer” and “AAA” (hence the price).
