Saying nothing at all is better than only being allowed to say good things and none of the bad. The former doesnt shift opinions in either direction but the latter introduces a pro-buying bias to reviews. Good for the publisher and no one else.

Looks like Nintendo and Sony are competing who can get away with being a bigger asshole. Boundary testing sociopaths. Game becomes popular, dev and publisher foist unpopular requirement to continue playing in order to see what the response is and if it doesnt tank numbers too much, they now have a green light to weasel this into other games. Hell even if it does tank numbers, they already have their money and you probably wont be able to get a refund at this point.

The only time games were finished was back in the days when you couldnt patch bugs. And that was back when games were designed to be such a pain in the ass to play that you couldnt beat them during one rental period so youd have to rent them more than once to beat them. Or the arcade machines being coin operated.

Fighting games started in coin operated arcade cabinets that were intentionally designed to be such a pain in the ass to beat that people would dump heaps of money into them just to keep playing. Same deal with games that were released in the days that youd rent them for a week. The difficulty was set so high that it was very unlikely that you could beat the game in that week so you would end up renting them another week or two.

The gaming industry has been filled with greedy fuck policies from the beginning and the only thing that has changed is how they are greedy fucks.

If what you say is true, best case scenario, that suggests DICE has no idea who has the necessary expertise which is bad in its own right. Like… if someone paid 60 people to help design something/offer their two cents and then turns around and ignores every single one of them with the rationale that they dont have the expertise needed, that person’s judgement is still shit because by their own standards theyre terrible at recognizing who actually has the necessary skill set.

The only time starcraft calms me down is when im doing something brainless like coop or the campaign. At my level of play, it is honestly not very fun on the ladder because I dont really feel like I can still do fun stuff and still win. And being a competitive person doesnt lend itself to being ok losing a lot more because I wanted to do something stupid instead of what works.

JKR is a very vocal TERF that basically wants trans people to dissappear. A lot of people dont want to financially support her because of that. That most people seemingly either dont care about trans erasure or even worse, bought the game specifically because theyre the type to do shit just because people with a conscience told them they shouldn’t, says more about most people than it does that “vocal minority”

Thats just one example. There are many others but I feel like if the point isn’t made it never will be.

She makes a number of claims about transitioning and detransitioning that are straight up lies, tries to conflate trans women with predators that must be denied entry to womens’ bathrooms, claims that the change in societal views toward trans issues threatens to erase women etc.

The reality is that JKR seems to have never dealt with the trauma of her rape and abuse so she denigrates trans women as being little more than predatory men in skirts. Thats why she brings that up in her post. She’s explaining why she is so concerned with trans issues and those reasons go back to that trauma never being processed in a healthier way.

She collected royalties from it. It doesnt matter if she had any input or not. Buying that game results in some of that money going into her pocket and I dont want to give her a dime. If she didnt get a dime for it that might be different but as it is she does and she revels in the shit stirring that shes done that resulted in blow back. I cant justify giving that troll the satisfaction of buying products that benefit her financially.
