Seems like they’re always looking straight out of the screen, just looking dead at you all the time. I hate it when people do that in real life.

BruceTwarzen,

I heard a lot of complaints from people that tge camera is way too close when you talk to someone and their dead eyes look weird. And it's true, but i find it way worse that EVERYONE just stares at you. If you walk by their eyes are glued to yours. It's such a strange thing.

MarcomachtKuchen, (edited ) do games w Witcher TTRPG Going on 'Disappointing' Hiatus During The Witcher 4 Development - IGN

I get it Roleplaying games are the Hot shit, and im more them happy to welcome everyone into a great and fullfilling Hobby, but at the same time it feels like the market is saturated. In last 2 years alone ive seen the annoucement of whole RPG Systems by:

*The witcher

*dark souls

*gloomhaven

*assasins creed

*Stormlight Archive

*Candela Obscura by Critical role

And those where just the ones that reached my ear.

On the other Hand im All for more diversity in the TTRPG community, currently D&D takes way to much space for how Bad the quality of offical books is.

You should have read the few lines of the article: it’s not a technological limit, they didn’t want to continue working on RED engine projects when they are shifting to Unreal.

Yes, I still prefer 1 but it’s great. Has ray tracing too.

I just watched the trailer. I was travelling a lot when it was released, so I guess it just flew under my radar. I’ll have to check it out!

giant_smeeg,

I was the other way! I never heard of the first game. Then I see the trailer for number 2 and then played both.

GammaGames,

Since early 2021, looks like it has 80s on metacritic

ChronosWing,

There’s also a little nightmares mobile game which isn’t half bad either.

csolisr, do gaming w Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Accessibility Features Let You Slow Down Gameplay - IGN

Two things:

  • Interesting to see this particular addition. Handy for the players with slower reflexes, utterly useless for speedrunners (unless it messes up with physics somehow)
  • I also wonder how will achievements be managed while the accessibility turned on. Plenty of people are out there, vocally complaining about “handing out the platinum” to people “that do less effort than I did to earn it”.
jjjalljs,

Some games have separate achievements for separate difficulty levels. I can see how any approach will leave some people annoyed, though. I don’t care much about achievements (in 40 years I don’t think I’ve 100% a single game) so I don’t really have a dog in the race.

Zapp,

I hope so. As someone who will use the accessibility features, I don’t mind separate badges at alll. I don’t need the same badge as a speed-runner. I just want to play the game.

NuPNuA,

I’m not an achievement/trophy hunter personally but I can see some people’s issue there. The whole point of them is to indicate you’ve done something particular in game. If it’s just reaching a point in a story or whatever no big deal, but if it’s something that requires some skill, having it available when you can turn off the need for all those skills does undermine the system a bit.

ZycroNeXuS,

I used to be one of those people who thought that it was unfair that they were handing out the achievements for “less effort,” 'til somebody pointed out to me that it isn’t for less effort. Somebody who needs accommodations would be playing a harder game than somebody who doesn’t at default settings. Their difficulty curve is steeper. Accomodations are a way of bringing the difficulty curve more in line with what a non-disabled player would experience.

And besides - most people aren’t going to want to completely ruin the game for themselves by sucking out any semblance of difficulty. Most people are still gonna play the game in a way where they get challenged. And even if they do, who cares? That doesn’t devalue the work that you did, you know? You still put in that effort yourself, so you can still feel secure in it.

Not coming after you in particular, just talking on a couple of the general points you brought up.

I appreciate that they are continuing to improve the game. I hope they will add some new subclasses, spells, and races eventually. It would give the game some serious staying power.

Angelevo, do games w Arc Raiders Is Already One of the Biggest Extraction Shooters Ever on Steam

Looks cool. The third person perspective is much overrated in my opinion; controlling a person is not a good lesson to learn – being one, is.

Rcklsabndn,

But if it’s not 3rd person you can’t see the badass skin you blew $20 on.

Edit: I agree, by the way. I hate over the shoulder aiming.

warm, (edited )

That is unironically the main reason why it's third person.

Bennyboybumberchums,

Ive been utterly sick of first person shooters for over 20 years. Any deviation from that is a win.

Cethin,

For the PvE aspect, the third person is great. The AI are an actual threat, and having the camera to look around corners or see around the player really helps.

For PvP I think it’s a negative. It promotes safe play and gives an unfair advantage to certain situations.

Overall, I think it’s a wash. Personally, I’d slightly prefer first person, but they’ve made third feel very good. I think you need to try it before making a judgement, and try it with an open mind without an opinion already formed. I thought I’d be more annoyed with it than I am.

Angelevo,

Thank you, do not need to try it, as the view has been presented before… You are missing the gist of my message. I am talking about controlling someone, which should instead “be” someone.

Cethin,

You aren’t someone when playing a video game besides yourself. A third person view doesn’t suddenly make people unable to feel as if they’re playing as that character any more than a first person view does. For example, people can have a similar feeling even from books, with no agency.

You’re making a weird argument based on some purity metric. Either way, you’re playing a video game and controlling a character in the game. Neither view let’s you be that character. Both let you be immersed and inhabit their role in the world.

Angelevo,

Depends a bit on the player, though you do make a solid point. It is also a matter of preference, of course.
