Keep at it! Been stoked for Skyblivion. And there’s no way the remaster will even match it. They’ll likely just upgrade the graphics a bit and call it a day

edit what does a fucking oblivion mod website with only some screenshots request cookies for

bob_lemon,

They’re also just a total of 77 people doing this in their spare time instead of a team of at least 300 full time devs.

@synceDD@lemmy.world avatar

Skyrim team was roughly 100, were you too lazy to google it and replied to me with a random number or what 💀💀💀💀

And Skyrim took 6 years to make for a 100 people working a full time job?

How long did you expect 77 people working in their spare time to take? 2 months?

synceDD,
@synceDD@lemmy.world avatar

Skyrim = skyrim mod 💀💀💀💀

520,

And Oblivion was a big fucking game, and it takes a lot of work to get it into Skyrim's engine and modifying it so that it looks like it fits.

synceDD,
@synceDD@lemmy.world avatar

Do you understand how long that is 💀💀💀💀 Imagine starting a mario kart mod for the gba when it came out and mario kart 8 for the switch is ready before it, this is how long it took 💀💀💀💀

520, (edited )

I get that, but the Oblivion and Skyrim engines are not compatible with one another. Meaning that every single little event in Oblivion has to be manually reimplemented in Skyrim's engine.

When you're talking about a game the size of Oblivion, that's a big fucking task. And they're relying on volunteers to get this done.

synceDD,

Sure, enjoy the wisdom of an adulterer

Globulart,

I certainly did, he made a very eloquent point.

A great husband he isn’t, but why should that mean you assume everything he says is bs?

Very closed minded way to live… It’s very possible to agree with someone on one point and still think they’re a pos when it comes to other points.

synceDD,
@synceDD@lemmy.world avatar

I’ll keep it in mind if I stumble upon his skyrim mod opinions

Globulart, (edited )

Yes I thought you might say something along those lines, have you ever heard of an analogy…?

I know you think you’re making a relevant point, but really you just look like a 10 year old who struggles putting 2 and 2 together.

This has nothing to do with skyrim modding, and everything to do with your perception of a group of people who don’t deserve your hate.

Let me know when you turn 11 and we can try again :) x

synceDD,
@synceDD@lemmy.world avatar

Guy who replies to me just to insult me calls me 11 year old, the irony💀💀💀💀 and there was no analogy here, I was asked to read something " relevant " from Arnold, you have the english skills of an 11 year old as well, bro was projecting all along 💀💀💀💀

Globulart,

No insults, just a guess :) x

The insult was your OP, and Arnold does a good job of illustrating why it makes you a cunt (there’s the insult!)

Do you understand irony? Irony is including 8 emojis in a post defending yourself from being called a 10 year old.

Someone insulting you in a response which (by your definition) was only posted to insult you is just logical. Where’s the irony?

The analogy is the post mate, but how would you know if it stayed blue…?

synceDD,
@synceDD@lemmy.world avatar

“Adult” triggered by literal emojis 💀💀💀💀 “youre 11 if youre using emojis” 💀💀💀💀 5th period starting soon buddy, time for your literature class, today youre learning about analogies, next week, irony💀💀💀💀

Globulart,

Ahhhh it’s weirdly beautiful mate. This whole exchange is like one big illustration on irony and (ironically) you end your point by illustrating just how little you understood my posts.

It really is satisfying. But if you want to teach me something and show me why it would be ironic to insult you in a post which was designed specifically to insult you then I’m all ears :) x

synceDD,
@synceDD@lemmy.world avatar

Paralympians asked to not compete vs modders asked to be faster there is no analogy here 💀💀💀💀 Or did you reduce both examples to getting criticized so you think it counts as analogy? truly 11 year old mind 💀💀💀💀

Globulart,

The analogy is that someone insulting people trying their hardest while doing nothing of importance themselves are worse than the supposed injustice they point out in the first place.

In this scenario, the volunteer modders are the paralympians, and you’re the douchebag criticising them for contributing something to the world despite having nothing productive to show themself.

Hope I helped :) x

synceDD,
@synceDD@lemmy.world avatar

“Their hardest” literally a hobby most likely not their hardest and it is a job for the paralympians, so not an analogy on both fronts, “nothing of importance” having a job to buy food and stay alive is more important than a videogame mod. Fake everything and you get an analogy, congrats.

Globulart,

Exactly, literally a hobby and not a job, people contributing time they absolutely don’t need to in order to create something for others to enjoy.

And you’re criticising them because they’re taking too long. Taking too long with their unpaid voluntary work for a product lots of people will enjoy.

Seeing it yet? :) x

synceDD,
@synceDD@lemmy.world avatar

Nooo its a hobby u cant type LMAO or I’ll compare you to disrespecting paralympians 💀💀💀💀 I literally predicted u would reduce both events to criticism, now I bothered to explain it too

Seeing it yet? :) x

Globulart,

It’s not simple criticism though is it mate? It’s criticising people who are contributing to the world while offering nothing yourself. That’s the whole point which has already been pretty clearly explained.

If we take it back to your original comment you’re literally criticising the amount of free work someone chooses to do. I’d hoped you might see the analogy but it seems like we’re past that point so let’s call it a day.

Good luck though mate, maybe think about it a bit more when you don’t feel like it’s a battle with an anonymous Internet person and can look more objectively at the points made :) x

FireTower,
@FireTower@lemmy.world avatar

Irony is telling someone to attend literature class while lacking reading comprehension.

synceDD,
@synceDD@lemmy.world avatar

Any examples of that or are you also 11 year old who replies just to insult? Another irony for you since you didnt give any examples and behave like the other guy

Zellith,

"Any examples of that or are you also 11 year old who replies just to insult?"

"5th period starting soon buddy, time for your literature class, today youre learning about analogies, next week, irony💀💀💀💀"

Hmmmm

synceDD,
@synceDD@lemmy.world avatar

Ah dont call someone out when they fail to use their own terms properly while they have the audacity to call you 11 first, or youre like them. Good logic.

FireTower,
@FireTower@lemmy.world avatar

He said you were like a 10 year old (his analogy towards your maturity) and requested that you inform him once you turn 11.

synceDD,
@synceDD@lemmy.world avatar

Yes replying someone just to call them immature is an insult, youre almost there buddy I see youre trying to learn manners as well

Since that 1.6x is pretty stable and performant, I’d be shocked if this rollout was bad.

That said, given that 1.0’s monumentally terrible launch, and the press restrictions that hid performance problems, you’d think CDPR would be trying to be transparent AF this time around.

I just thought it was a fascinatingly bad marketing decision that made this an interesting review worth posting. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

IGN is such a meme.

A 5 is average.

They are saying this game is so good, it’s essentially flawless and beyond comparison in all areas compared to all other games.

How much does a 9 cost?

Arbitrary limits on information just mean you have something to hide

And even if that’s not the case for a specific game, normalizing this shit means that once you have something to hide, it’s no longer raising eyebrows.

I agree, but I would say that treating it as a worst case interpretation every time would lead to the best outcome.

Never normalize hiding info from the people, and only the honest rise to to the top. Radical honesty is good for everyone.

Oneeightnine, do games w Leaked Microsoft Documents Show the Xbox Series S Might Be More Popular Than You Think - IGN
!deleted4231 avatar

Is anyone surprised? I thought it was common knowledge that the S outsold the X by a pretty sizable margin?

TurnItOff_OnAgain, (edited )

The lower price, mixed with the fact that there was a very long stretch of time that you could get a series x probably contributed to that as well.

Oneeightnine,
!deleted4231 avatar

Microsoft pushing it as the affordable next-gen console didn’t hurt. I’m not sure how that decision will play out going forward for Microsoft, but it’s been a pretty effective strategy so far.

dudewitbow,

The only mistake imo Microsoft made with the S was not giving it the same ram as the x. Puts more work on devs to optimize vram assets when vram is the cheapest way to make any game look better to a dev.

Omegamanthethird,
@Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world avatar

I know I only got it because I couldn’t get an SX and it’s my secondary console. I kinda regretted it, but it really doesn’t get a lot of use. And probably won’t until Fable comes out.

TurnItOff_OnAgain,

I’m enjoying it. I don’t have a TV that can take advantage of the X’s power, and I honestly don’t care about super high frame rate for ultra high quality graphics. Almost all the games I play are on Gamepass too, so not having a disc drive doesn’t bother me.

Plus it was given to me for free when a family member replaced it with an X.

Corkyskog,
@Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works avatar

I got a PS5 because it was either that or S in terms of availability, and at the time people only had guesses as to when the X would be available.

Murvel, (edited ) do gaming w IGN posts written review of Cyberpunk: Phantom Liberty, but withholds video review. CDPR is, once again, not letting reviewers use their own gameplay footage before release.

This is my experience with Cyberpunk 2077 in 2023:

this summer, i built a new PC specifically so that I could play the game with good, stable performance. With ray-tracing on, the game would curb-stomp my RTX 3080 (not a cheap card mind) with 30 fps in the inner city. Not great, kind of disappointing.

What followed was nothing but a never-ending stream of bugs. Feel free to sample from the smorgosbord;

  • night would shift to day in an instant
  • characters would t-pose on reload
  • characters would walk through cars like a tank and blow them up
  • npc driven cars would run through walls and cars and blow them up
  • ragdolls would flip out and fly out of bounds
  • citizens walk in circles through the streets
  • animated objects like cell phones would not disappear when put away and instead float around their bodies
  • npc driven cars would teleport forward when driven
  • lost count of how much clipping issues were present

All this after about 5 hours of game play. It was brutal until I could take no more. And the game play is just not that fun, even though most of the characters are interesting and the story is good.

The absolute most damning thing is that the game demands immersion, the world is built around the concept, but with a bug every 15 min throwing you out of the experience, it’s just too much.

I’m not hopeful for this DLC.

NuPNuA,

I’ve played though the game twice on the Series X and didn’t have any if that. Once that got the frame rate up to a solid 60 in the first big patch, it’s a really solid feeling title.

Murvel,

Everyone’s experience will be unique, especially considering bugs, but the fact that an experience can be as bad as mine is bad enough.

pit, (edited )

I’ve had pretty much the same experience, but with an RX7900 XTX, which is an even moer expensive card. In the end I even got soft-locked, because I was playing on the highest difficulty, and in some random side misssion I just kept respawning in a spot, where I could not reach any kind of cover before being killed. Of course I tried to lower the difficulty, but that just instantly crashed the game. That was the point where I uninstalled

Facebones, do gaming w IGN posts written review of Cyberpunk: Phantom Liberty, but withholds video review. CDPR is, once again, not letting reviewers use their own gameplay footage before release.

So, it’s still garbage lmao

Hyperreality,

The last time I played Cyberpunk, it was actually good fun. Game was a bit empty, and it was pretty obvious they'd been forced to cut a lot of stuff, but I played it for several hundred hours without too many bugs. Pretty and ran well on my budget pc too.

As always, patience is a virtue.

Facebones,

I picked it up on a whim, scoffed at it after a couple of hours and never touched it again. I’ll give it a go once this update drops though.

madkins,

That was how I started. I played less than a couple hours and got pulled away by another game. I picked it up months later, made it through the prologue, get invested in the characters, and ended up really loving it.

Delphia,

The intro/prologue is a bit slow and dense. I had to convince a friend who got bored and gave up to slog through it and get to the open game.

He loved it by the time he finished it.

Facebones,

Anyone know when the update goes live?

kautau,

Sept 21 for 2.0 update. Sept 26 for DLC release

Delphia,

Yeah I played it earlier this year and no complaints, it was a great game.

NuPNuA,

Yep, it’s been solid, at least on Series X for a few years now since the patch that brought it to a solid 60fps.
