I’m stoked, the ARPG genre feels stale. Hopefully they keep up what seems to be engaging combat. No rest for the wicked is still in early access and D4/LE/POE1 have very unrewarding combat IMHO.
I’m cautiously optimistic. It looks like a solid core for combat, they need to keep the power creep in check. Most of PoE1’s issues stem from the fact that an optimized build just one-shots everything, and the bandaid fixes that try to fit a source of challenge into that meta.
As always I’ll wait for reviews, but the cinematics alone have me pretty convinced, have never played any FF before thinking of starting with this and then playing the whole FF7 remake.
Graphics are debatable. 7 Rebirth has a larger, more fleshed out world, and the characters are a bit more emotive and varied, but there are definitely a few parts of the environment that feel a bit last-gen (water especially). They really nail interior clutter, though, so buildings feel so lived in.
16 is smaller in scale, and honestly doesn’t even have many comparable town environments to put up next to 7, but the field environments are simply gorgeous throughout. The give and take of visual budgeting at work, I guess.
Hopefully this is a net positive. I'm guessing with the partnership they still want to work on Crash and Spyro, and I hope they do. They've been held in limbo for way too long. Would be pretty crazy for Crash to have an indie dev.
Persona 3 Reload is finally here, and fans of the series have welcomed it with open arms, happily becoming reacquainted with the high schoolers who get magical powers from a shot to the head. Speaking of which, Persona 3 Reload has shot to the head of Atlus’s ranking of fastest-selling games, shipping over a million copies worldwide in its first week.
I think Bloodborne will be one of the first, if not the first, games ever to be emulated on a PS4 emulator. There are multiple projects, but they are not ready yet (plus it would require a monster pc).
Good news if you ever spend Thanksgiving in Hyrule, they have actually edible (and mostly harmless) birds, including big juicy Eldin and forest ostriches.
Also, if they’re not extinct and you’re looking for very big game, you could always try loftwing.
