diegooooooo, do games w Alien: Isolation sequel in early development, with original director returning
@diegooooooo@lemmy.world avatar

Will they follow the logic of the movies and make the second one an action game?

ms_lane, do games w Alien: Isolation sequel in early development, with original director returning

Does it have to be a sequel to Isolation?

Can it not just be another self-contained story in the universe?

I love the game, but it doesn’t really need a true sequel.

very_well_lost,

Honestly, I’d love to see games set in the Alien universe that have absolutely nothing to do with the aliens. The whole design concept for the original movie was “truckers in space”. So where’s my space trucking game?

Fredselfish,
@Fredselfish@lemmy.world avatar

We have a space trucking movie that stars Dennis Hopper. A game based on that would be cool. It’s on Amazon right now: watch.amazon.com/detail?gti=amzn1.dv.gti.6ebbc276…

… Unironically my most played Tomb Raider, I remember it being shit even as a kid but for some reason I liked it.

I am guessing there were two reasons.

Everyone likes tits, even babies.

This game has the most incredible UI I’ve ever seen.

I’ve found it to be a little busy and overwhelming at times. It’s got style though.

Ashtear, do games w Metaphor: ReFantazio surpasses 1m sales on launch day to become fastest-selling Atlus game

Dropping a random tip here that might help a couple people that are running Metaphor on PC with an RTX card: turn on DLDSR and FXAA from your Nvidia Control Panel, and set 100% rendering scale in-game. The game doesn’t have anti-aliasing for whatever reason and the shimmer is real bad compared to Atlus’s earlier games. The best you can do in-game is crank up the scale, and I think some pretty beefy hardware is still required for good framerate with that.

Some stuff is probably going to be bad no matter what you do (like Strohl’s vest), but this way I can reduce a lot of the aliasing and still get a rock-solid 60 FPS on my modest 3060Ti. There are likely better third-party solutions being developed by the community right now, maybe even some good presets in Reshade.

The only Tomb Raider I had as a kid. Took me a like decade to finally figure out why anyone would like Tomb Raider.

thingsiplay, (edited ) do gaming w Eurogamer: It's been 12 months since Microsoft purchased Activision Blizzard, so what's changed?

BTW this article looks like an ad for Jason Schreier’s new book about this topic, that releases soon and is mentioned as the last sentence in the article with a single link that spans across 4 lines.

Nothing much. Microsoft put out one of the worst Call of Duty games in history (Modern Warfare 3 in 2023) and couldn’t save Overwatch 2 from being totally ruined. Console sales and Game Pass didn’t grow as expected I guess. And then the layoffs… Funny enough the releases on PC and Playstation (by Xbox) doing well. At the moment its a total disaster and we question if Xbox will survive until next gen (off course it will, there is Microsoft behind it). Once again Xbox players are told to wait until next year; basically since the launch of the recent console.

(Note, I don’t hate Xbox and even own the Series S as a backup console if my PC explodes or a game I want to play doesn’t work on Linux. I hate Playstation probably even more for what Sony is doing. Just mentioning this as a context, because I’m so negative in this post towards Xbox, but more specifically Microsoft.)

chloyster,

Idk if I’d really consider it an ad for the book tbh. If anything it’s an ad for another Eurogamer article, which is an interview they did with Jason. It’s pretty common for sites like this to link to articles that have similar topics to keep you reading

He’s had a few other articles written, but given the detail and research, I think he can be forgiven. It’s not like he’s trying to sell something that doesn’t live up to what the book is about.

Heroes of the storm has been getting some updates instead of just being dead. I’m a happy camper 🥲

microshit is trying to big tech gaming market... yeah gamers have some idiotic habits.... like pre-ordered but overall this is a higher level customer than you modal "google search user"

at some point, corpos gonna need to learn that the wage slaves have had a enough, good will has been lost... earn it bitch!

lustyargonian, do gaming w Eurogamer: It's been 12 months since Microsoft purchased Activision Blizzard, so what's changed?

Everything that Sony claimed turned out to be true. Games are now exclusive to Xbox, they run worse on PS5, Xbox would get exclusive Call of Duty content and early betas and Xbox is using its market dominance by putting all ABK titles on GamePass.

Oh wait.

Sounds about right.

The publisher has been pressing hard on paid stuff in payday 2 and payday 3 didn’t have enough content / solid enough gameplay to replace it. Also there’s denuvo, and denuvo is not giving a great first impression.

Well, they developed it as if they forgot all of the good ideas from the second game.

As if?? They clearly forgot everything that was good
