Telorand, do gaming w The Rocky Horror Video Game is a thing, and coming out this month [Eurogamer]

I have never seen the movie, but I absolutely would play this game.

degen,

It’s quite a thing, that could only be a product of the 70s. Might make you go “huh?”, and is almost certainly the only context I feel comfortable with the word transvestite today.

Maestro,

Also, a baby-faced Meatloaf to really make you feel old

If you ever decide you want to see it please for the love of Tim Curry don’t watch it on TV.

The only way to experience the RHPS is at a theater, movie or stage, with a floor show. Without the floor show you will not get what makes RHPS an adored Cult Classic. Seriously, the floor show is what makes (or breaks) the experience.

If you walk into the show and you’re not surrounded by people in costumes spouting weird lines, or if you don’t see them in the aisles within the first 90 seconds of the show starting then you may as well get up and leave.

Edit: Fixed my typo’s as pointed out by @shiny_idea

Telorand,

This is my plan. If I ever see a showing locally, I’ma try to make sure it’s the “immersive experience” everyone promises

@themadcodger@kbin.earth avatar

The same thing applies to The Room, another terrible movie turned cult classic. You need to be in a theater of people throwing spoons or it's not worth watching.

shiny_idea,

RHCP = Rocky Horror Chilli Peppers?

(your points are all good, I just found the abbreviations amusing)

Buelldozer,

<facepalm>

Dammit! Why did I mistype that?

Obviously it should be RHPS. Sigh.

Telorand,

Quick! It’s spreading! We need the Rocky Horror Containment Protocol!

I’ll just leave this here… [en.wikipedia.org/…/Rocky_Interactive_Horror_Show]

MummifiedClient5000,
dallas,

Yay! You read the full wiki or knew beforehand–which is cool and I appreciate either way. This was my point, there’s already been a Rocky Horror video game and a remake.

A Rocky Horror video game was already a thing since uh–oh god I’m old–1985.

MummifiedClient5000,

I played it as a kid with my buddies. We never understood the point of the game, but their clothes would fall off and that is kind of a big deal for little boys.

Nice! Recently started playing the first one again.

Hope they manage to include a proper VR mode this time. The Mother VR mod is great but unfortunately it cannot work on Linux.

Alien Isolation was very close to being the perfect Horror game for me and a true love letter to the first movie. Can’t wait for the sequel.

DarkThoughts,

I loved that they also kept the whole cassette futurism aesthetic, unlike the newer movies of the franchise. The one thing I would wish for is that the horror segments are a bit less repetitive / samey.

CrabAndBroom,

I thought the new one, Romulus, did a pretty good job of keeping the retro look going. I actually didn’t like the movie itself very much, but props & costumes did a good job lol.

deranger,

I had this on my “to play” list for years and finally did a full play through as the first game on my new OLED monitor. It holds up incredibly well so many years later. The AI, sound design, and lighting really carry the game, and when I went back to watch Alien I realized how true to the source material it was. 9/10 game for me, had my heart racing numerous times but I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I could only do an hour or two a day but wow, very glad I pushed myself to finish it. Probably the most fun I’ve had with a game’s AI since STALKER’s A-Life or FEAR’s AI.

CrabAndBroom,

I think that game is the third best Alien movie lol

i miss the original AvP from fox-- it’s dated to the point of unplayable, but still the one i enjoyed the most

isolation is a quality game and i wish i liked stealth games, but they’re just unreasonably boring to me

MudMan, do games w Alien: Isolation sequel in early development, with original director returning

Neat. I wasn't able to get into Isolation, it just takes a long time to get going and I don't click super hard with what you do moment to moment, but it looks super cool and a lot of people really liked it, so I'm glad they're getting another shot at it. I'd check it out.

I’ll never forget hiding under a table in the corridor with the Alien walking around me in circles. He knew I was there but seemingly couldn’t figure out how to get me. I thought I was safe but maybe I moved a few pixels in the wrong direction as after a long wait, it grabbed me and gave me the deadly kiss.

Bought this on my iPad Pro and it runs so beautifully. Now wherever I am I can put headphones on and be scared shitless.

Anyone else get motion sickness playing this? Not sure why. It’s the only game that gives me motion sickness, not even playing it on the VR .

BaroqueInMind,

Turn off the blur and film grain filters it will resolve your issues.

gusgalarnyk, do games w Alien: Isolation sequel in early development, with original director returning

I never finished it because the alien would teleport too much. I need to install the larger leash mod and give it another go. It’s also sooo long for such a tense game. I loved everything about it and I’m upset I haven’t finished it lol.
