Sunsofold, do games w Should we boycott games with loot boxes?

If the loot boxes affect your ability to win, don’t buy the game. If they are just cosmetic, meh.

But don’t stop there. If it has day one DLC, don’t touch it. If it has DLC to patch game functions that should be in the base game, don’t touch it. If it has any kind of pay to win function, don’t touch it. If it has a subscription, don’t touch it. If it’s a pre-order, don’t touch it. If it’s put out by a conglomerate publisher that eats real developers and shits out imitations of their IP, don’t touch it.

And most of all, teach these things to gamer kids and their parents. Kids are ignorant of the effect their purchases, and parents don’t have the time and energy to go learn for themselves. Spreading awareness helps everyone.

Treczoks, do games w Should we boycott games with loot boxes?

No, we should see that they are made illegal.

Just don't play them. You're not going to convince millions of players that lootboxes = bad so they shouldn't play the games they love. But you can just play games from companies that respect their customers.

Loot Skinner box

And absolutely

The Arkham games are absolutely perfect.

You should definitely go through Arkham Knight after City if you haven’t already. It looks even better and holds up just as much if not a bit more. And don’t listen to the haters about the Batmobile.

I think i’ve had it on here a few times. Sadly i just can’t playthrough it. Idk if it’s because i got all the way to the Knight drill fight on my Xbox before losing my save or what, but every attempt i make to pick it up i just end up dropping it again. I do genuinely love how well it the graphics hold up though

RightHandOfIkaros, do games w People who call the PS1 'PSX' make me want to kill kittens

I only use “PS1” when naming a ROM folder so it sorts correctly.

The PSX was always called the PSX. It always shared a suspicious name similarity with the Microsoft MSX computer device family, which Sony manyfactured some of them.

Ah yes. Just like “GCN” for Nintendo GameCube.

Another thing that irks me is Microsofts stupid decision to name a console “Xbox” then one later down the line “Xbox One”

Oh cool, you have an Xbox One? I still have an Xbox …1…?

RightHandOfIkaros,

“I have an Xbox.”

“Oh cool, which one?”

“The original.”

brsrklf,

I’d heard the reason for the Xbox One was that some marketing genius noticed people were calling Xbox 360 “the 360”, and thought they would call that one… well, the One.

And then everyone laughed and went ex-bone instead.

I brought my steamdeck to a boys weekend away. We used it to play a few games here and there at 3am as we’re winding down for bed in our Jammies.

I mean, yeah, mostly I use portables at home, but I do bring them with me. It's a 50-50 chance whether I overcome the social awkwardness of pulling out a game system in a packed train or plane, but... you know, hotels are a thing.

The real question is which handheld do you bring with you. Pre-pandemic it was the Switch or the 3DS. When I had a long train commute me and my friends got into Mario Kart DS on local multiplayer for a while. When I was alone I did tend to carry a PSP, which at the time was also my media player of choice. By the time I moved to PC handhelds from the aging Switch I wasn't really travelling, but the couple times I did the Deck seemed a bit too large and I do have a smaller Windows handheld I can use instead. Smaller retro emulation handhelds are cute and portable, but a bit too limited. A couple times I packed a controller to go with my laptop.

Never again, bye Microsoft Windows 😁 Hi GNU/Linux my new friend.

BURN, do gaming w My primary use of portable consoles has been lounging around the house.

I bought a switch. Then I almost never used it, since if I’m gaming I’m at my PC.

I’ll likely never buy another portable console simply for the fact that I don’t have a use for it. Many do, I’m just not one of them

magic_lobster_party, do gaming w My primary use of portable consoles has been lounging around the house.

I’ve done this. Brought a switch with me on a longer vacation only to never touch it. At least I learned a lesson and stopped bringing it.

My Windows 10 PC’s only function at this point is to play FFXIV in my living room, so I’m not super worried about viruses or anything.

But maybe eventually I’ll switch to Linux on that box and do that weird set-up to get FFXIV running there.

A_Union_of_Kobolds, do gaming w My primary use of portable consoles has been lounging around the house.

Idk I get a lot of use from my Switch Lite when I travel. When I’m home I just play on my ps5.
