Not mentioned yet: Chronicon. A small indie game that doesn’t take itself very seriously. It has much less build variety than something like Grim Dawn (obviously) but it’s got some, and it’s aiming to be a much more streamlined/casual experience. Won’t demand as much of your time and attention, will deliver hugely satisfying colorful explosions across the screen. When I’m in the mood for an ARPG it’s a toss up whether I’ll install this or Grim Dawn.
I love the title of this post. The only arpgs that I don’t see mentioned already are Victor Vran, which I think is a lot of fun, and the Warhammer arpgs, I haven’t played yet, Chaosbane and Inquisitor Martyr. Inquisitor Martyr is supposed to get a fully offline mode soon and they’ve patched it to have all the seasons available to play through.
Victor Vran was surprisingly good. I bought Inquisitor Martyr and have never made it more than an hour or two. I think you need to be a diehard fan of the IP because the gameplay is generic af.
I'll add Chronicon to the list! Its approach to endgame is quite similar to D3, but more entertaining imo. It was also made by a solo dev, which is very impressive.
I prefer MK because the characters are great, the lore is great, the input methods are fun and you get to kill your opponent.
SF was fun when I was a teenager 😅
EDIT: WTF is wrong with you people? I played SF when I was a kid because that’s when it first became popular. It’s not an insult, chill with the downvotes.
Easily the rival in the early Pokémon games. Being so annoyingly cocky and full of themselves just to get wiped by my party’s first slot Pokémon every single time… Bruh, just get a grip on reality, would you?
The way they were infuriating motivated the player and makes it satisfying when you beat them, so being annoying was absolutely the right choice. The last Pokemon games I played were on DS where your “rivals” were nice and supportive and non-annoying and they were boring and I would have fastforwarded them if I could have.
Rocket league. I’m still not very good but I’ve had a lot of those moments as far as the controls. I used to see my friend and it just looked like button smashing magic. It’s actually not that hard tho
all my stress just melts away picking up my switch and sitting out on a bench somewhere riding on a horse in breath of the wild while hearing soft, soothing melodies play.
I swear I think I’m gonna have hundreds of hours into this game before I ever beat it
Lately, it’s been Factorio. It’s nice to set all my worries aside and pick up an entirely new set of worries regarding factories and the growth thereof.
