An Point and Click series I really enjoyed: Deponia. It’s focuses more on humor, but also has great writing.

I know many people did not, but I really enjoyed the King’s Quest reboot.

It’s slow but, The Invincible was pretty good.

The Frog Detective series is pleasant, light, and overall delightful. Feels like a slightly more grownup Humongous Games kinda title.

And I do have to check- Did you play the Manhunter games?
They're super overlooked for Sierra titles, (and some lists don't seem to mention them) but they're still authentic old school adventure game.
Super cheezy though.

daniyeg,

thanks for your suggestions the frog detective series sounds like the exact kind of game i would like. and as for the manhunter i have to admit i haven’t played them. why are they overlooked though? it doesn’t seem that different from other games of that time.

Comedy is an important part of Point & Click games for me. If anyone has other suggestions, I’d love to hear them.

This list is in order of my favorites:

  • Paradigm
  • Darkside Detective
  • Everything by Amanita Design
  • Cleo: A Pirate’s Tale
  • Feria d’Arles
  • There Is No Game: Wrong Dimension
  • Lost In Play
  • Thimbleweed Park
  • Bertram Fiddle
  • Will of Arthur Flabbington
Rai,

Paradigm is SO GOOD

also throwing in Quest for Glory, on a writing standpoint

ProdigalFrog,

Quest for Infamy (spiritual successor to Quest for Glory) has some really witty, funny writing. It was a blast to play!

I really recommend Stray, it was a a classic feeling adventure game to me when I played and I quite enjoyed it.

daniyeg,

i’ve played stray and i quite enjoyed it as well although i really wouldn’t call it an adventure game. it has some of the elements of an adventure game but it just doesn’t feel like one to me. thanks for your recommendation anyway.

Rain World. Fits the vague definition with some survival elements. But it is heavy on story, atmospheric story-telling, and heavily influenced by Hinduism.

daniyeg,

tried playing it with my friend but our networks were so bad we gave up and i never tried out the game again. from the 5 minute i played it didn’t look like it has much of a story but maybe it’s time for me to actually play it.

Sanctus,
@Sanctus@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah it doesnt spoon feed you the story. You have to discover the characters and they each share a bit of lore with you. Most of these come from lore pearls or having enough karma to see the Echos and talk to them. I don’t want to spoil it for you though. As part of the game is peeling off your animal struggles to see what is actually around you.

nope, like I said it was definitely vector, just a bunch of tight lines

Turmbaumeister, do gaming w Let's discuss: Slay the Spire

I’ve beaten the game(act 4) with every char except the poison one. The best phone game ever. The balance is a bit iffy though, Watcher is just way more consistent than other characters but Defect is my favourite

As for similar games I like Monster Train, I’ve enjoyed it nearly as much but it doesn’t have the same longevity imo.

wahming,

Every character is 100% consistently winnable at low ascensions, I believe

Nuisance_Bear,

Man wtf? Defect and watcher are the two that make no sense to me at all, especially the defect. I’m best with the silent. And by that I mean I’m A17 on the silent and like… A2 on the defect

How the crap do you play the defect??

Turmbaumeister,

There are many strategies, the most obvious one it to

  1. get orbs so cards like capacitor
  2. get focus so orbs do more, cards like defragment(most important!)
  3. get generate lightning orb cards to fill the orbs
  4. ideally get electrodynamics that makes every orb hit every single target
  5. get evoke cards for massive burst damage

You can also do the same with frost instead of lightning, you’ll have so much block nothing will touch you, you can then use cards like claw for damage. Upgraded Buffer card might be my favourite in the game

The problem with defect is that the cards you get on a given run might screw you over, not fitting any strategy whereas the watcher always has a valid strategy based on switching between calm and wrath stances if he doesn’t get something better like divinity or alpha.

astrionic, do gaming w Let's discuss: Slay the Spire

One of my favourite games! I’ve got over 400 hours on Steam and some more on mobile. Did all achievements but I’m still struggling with A20 Heart kills so I haven’t gotten tired of it yet. My favourite class is probably the Silent. I also like the Watcher a lot, but she’s a bit too easy and her decks can feel a bit too similar. The Ironclad has grown on me since I’ve realised that the exhaust cards are good actually. And that he’s not really focused on attacks. Defect is my least favourite but I do play all four. My favourite way to win is with Snecko Eye! Getting an early Snecko Eye and then picking all the expensive cards is a lot of fun.

I’ve been meaning to play a few similar games like Monster Train or Wildfrost but so far I’ve always felt like I need to get back to StS to improve a bit more instead.

For people looking to improve I’d recommend jorbs and Baalorlord on Twitch and YouTube, they’re chill and very good at the game.

Recently finished my very first play through of all 3 Mass Effect (Legendary Edition) games. Started Mass Effect: Andromeda, but for some reason it triggers horrible motion sickness after 30 minutes of playing. As in, “I need to have a barf bucket nearly, and then lie down for the rest of the day” kind of bad.

Mullvad

Oooo niezle. Dzięki za info.

Kolanaki, do games w Are there any games like Diablo but not Diablo because Diablo?
!deleted6508 avatar

Torchlight 1 and 2 (diablo 1 and 2 but better)

Path of Exile (diablo the MMO)

Titanquest (my personal favorite non-diablo diablo game)

The Ascent (diablo with guns!)

Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance (D&D diablo on consoles)

Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel (Fallout Diablo on consoles)

And so many more… There was a time in the 90’s after the success of Diablo 1 where everyone and their mother was making clones of Diablo.
