I don’t count CEA as a remaster so much as a piss take but apparently, yeah.
This is reported to be a pseudo UE5 port (think Oblivion Remastered (💀)) and will be available on PlayStation. The core of the game will apparently be derived from Halo Reach’s iteration of Blam engine. The “technical details” are all just rumours and you’ve every right to disregard, though the entry coming to PS5 is more or less acknowledged.
I don’t believe a multiplayer component is planned.

From what I can gather one of the senior members of the development team, Drew Harrison, made a (mild) joke in a tweet about the suspected shooter in Charlie Kirk’s death. Loads of right wingers, being the thin skinned, wannabe victims but apparently “free speech warriors” that they are, harassed her and contacted Sucker Punch trying to get her fired, threatening to boycott the game and so on. Sucker Punch and/or Sony predictably caved and did so

Which is even more jarring when you realize they have been leaving Erika Ishii to be a lightning rod for all the chud hate basically since this was announced. No support for the face of their game but abrahamic god forbid someone make an incredibly mild “mario and luigi” joke.

Real shame. I liked Ghost of Tsushima a fair bit (even if it was very clearly written by weebs, for weebs) and was planning to grab this as a goofing around game. But I guess sucker punch just saved me probably 80 bucks or whatever this was going for.
Yeah even putting this situation aside I wasn’t that gassed for GOY. I played GOT and enjoyed it sure, but it was yet another typical open world action-adventure game with no innovation at all really, basically the same gameplay we’ve seen countless times at this point. It just had a halfway decent story, which is a low bar for video games, and looked really pretty. And what you say is very true I agree, “by weebs, for weebs”
Edit: oh my god I knew there were apparently new gameplay elements in GOY. I hadn’t looked it up but suspected it would again be nothing new. And yeah most of it is but I did see they have something…unique. The “Watanabe mode” where it plays lofi beats music over you playing. So cringe

it’s SO bad, I don’t see any reason for it to exist when the game already plays great on PC (with the Vanilla Fixer), and it also runs on PS5 with the PS2 version

The PS2 version is surely severely compromised compared to the PC version. Even the sequel designed with the Xbox in mind had to cut back on a lot of things to make it fit on a more powerful console.
A remaster like this is pointless in the first place, it’s not meaningfully doing anything to make people play it who wouldn’t otherwise. A proper Nightdive-style remake is what the game deserves.
The fan mods aren’t exactly accessible to PlayStation players. What would you want to see in a Deus Ex remaster that a mod couldn’t do? Mods are capable of a great deal, but there’s a lot of value to having things preconfigured to modern standards out of the box.
I mean, some production value beyond upscaling would be a start. Deus Ex isn’t some forgotten brand, it definitely warrants something like the System Shock remakes. High poly models, remastered animations, and modern lighting effects would be a reason to actually purchase this over the original.
PS4 severely disappointed me after PS3. The regression in GUI / OS multimedia features from XMB was one part of it. Charging to play online was another part of it.
When it came to games? Any exclusives it did have, besides souls games which I don’t like, ended up ported. Regretful purchase. What games were coming out came out slowly and the quirky/experimental games I loved were all but dead and gone from Sony Studios. Matters less to people who only play on console, but I PC game too. It became a useless brick.
I figured PS5 would be more of the same and stopped buying Sony hardware.
Nintendo with the Switch 2 I bet will be on a similar trajectory and already was getting there except for games with Switch 1. Donkey Kong Bananza is brainless, MK World is inferior to 8 Deluxe. They’re being weird about giving dev kits to developers.
I have both PS3 and PS4 and they are equally great devices: great and responsive UI, great titles. PS4 still have 90% of games playable offline without patches or accounts. PS5 looks very bad like latest gen console + XB1 (but at least XB1 have games, and backward compatibility.
I wonder if there could be a game where players decide the balance at the start of the game. So everyone has sliders with all the damage values for all weapons, and the game sets the balance to a median of all the votes.
You could have a point system. Oh! Maybe each player could have their own individual sliders. Of course, you’d have to have less guns for it to really work well but the game would balance itself…or be incredibly broken. Both are fun
Honestly, this is exactly what I expected. This is why I can’t trust review sites anymore. They only ever score a game from 7 to 10. I mean, IGN previously scored Concord a 7/10.
From what I know of Concord, it kind of was a 7/10 game - It was functional, but just not impressive or interesting. The thing is, when it’s released with a fervent anticipation of being a “Live service HIT”, it was critically important to have a flood of players. At least indie singleplayer games can hit success late (Among Us being a perfect example, its first release didn’t really strike big)
A game that is technically functional but neither good or bad should be a 5/10, not a 7. Which is my whole point. Access reviewers/ bias reviewers do not use the whole grading scale, they only use a scale of 7-10 which is wholly unhelpful when determining game review scores.
You’re totally right. That’s why I usually just assume, that the scale starts at 5, that gives a good idea about the quality of the game. A 7/10 would be a 2/5 on that revised scale, telling you what you want to know
It makes me wish i had explored them when i was younger. I got like halfway through and had to return my copy to the library and never got to check it out again because one of the other Library Borrowers left it out and it got ruined
I would look for a mouse where the screws aren’t covered by the stick on feet. Less can be more, less buttons, less things to break = more stable. Its also good to look at the faulty market: buy a working mouse, and when it eventually breaks source replacement parts from faulty mice from eBay, if the market is stupidly priced or non existent you many need to do some research for which switches are used, this can be difficult to ID.
So stick with mainstream brands like Logitech, Corsair, Razor (not my first choice but there will be no end of faulty mice 😅) but if your up for IDing PCB components then any mouse can be fixable.

I was thinking more along the lines of “open hardware” — either a mouse manufactured by a larger company so that it can be easily repaired, with the manufacturer happy to sell you spare parts (something like Framework laptops), or a mouse designed by an internet enthusiast that you can assemble yourself from off-the-shelf components and 3D-printed parts.
I once saw a build-it-yourself kit for an ultra-light mouse somewhere. I naively assume that such a mouse would be easy to repair. Alas, that kit would cost me my kidney.
Pretty much no manufacturer is going to sell you parts besides maybe replacement feet. But the only things that fail on mice are all jellybean components.
Left mouse button fails? Buy another from mouser. Middle button fails? Digikey. Side button? Some other components selling company.
Outside of those super light mice there’s nothing special about any of them other than the exact layout, and the case. And the cheaper the mouse usually the simpler they are on the inside, and the easier it is to solder. Most PCBs will be single sided with through hole components.
Find a mouse you like the shape of and look at comparable mice that have replaceable switches. Then do a quick check on aliexpress at the prices of those switches/wheels. Things have gotten better with mice.
If you can solder I’d say most mice are easily fixable. The most common defect for mice are the switches, which are usually quite simple to desolder, as there aren’t any components near them.
E.g. I don’t have much experience soldering and it took me under an hour replacing both switches on the G Pro Wireless as well as the battery. I’ve bought this mouse used about 5 years ago and I wouldn’t be surprised if it lasted another 5 years.
Edit: The annoying part is the screws being below the feet, so you have to replace them after opening the mouse. But it’s all screwed in.
In addition to that, for popular, “name brand” mice, there are often also tons of replacement parts available from China. You can basically re-build the complete mouse from parts.
Otherwise, as you’ve said, switches, wheel, the battery and maybe the cable, should always be replaceable (as long as you can solder).
Reddragon, and just pull parts from goodwill mice, they send you extra Teflon pads with the mouse so you can open it and keep the pads nice. Switches are just switches, they are standard sizes, and the cords usually use standard plugs, worst case you swap some pins around to match. Insanely easy to take apart, and cheap enough to not worry about breaking.
They are cheap as hell, but they have good tracking sensors and are really comfortable to use.

Every time I look up something I can’t figure out, I am presented with a bunch of tangenital items that I haven’t even seen yet and I’ve been grinding the game for two weeks now. And CA just announced it was getting more! This unassuming retro farming game is fucking massive. 😵💫
It’s been a bit difficult with The Last of Us because I feel self obligated to mix things up regularly, but it has been fun, especially showing off my favorite sights and parts in the story. I feel a bit like a tourist seeing a city for the first time lol
