Getting weird is why we love Bioshock so much.

Dragon Age: Veilguard lead level designer Brian J. Audette responds to criticisms on Bluesky: "We couldn't have made a better Dragon Age, only a different one." (bsky.app) angielski

In a response to an article written for Bloomberg by Jason Schreier investigating the ten year “development turmoil,” lead level designer Brian J. Audette refutes the notion that the game was “compromised” in a post on their bluesky account....

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

DA:V was such a disappointment.

It was a Disneyfication of the world of Thedas, and none of us wanted a Dragon Age game with no meaningful choices and a G rating.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

And, on the plus side, anyone lucky enough to have never played it can get DA:O and all of it’s DLC for like five bucks no.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Thank you for not making me sit through a video.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

So… who’s getting what?

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

I think I’m going to get the Dead Space remake (90% off currently), Granny: Escape Together (I like horror), and Escape the Mad Empire to start.

Might pick up more later in the sale, but this will keep me busy.

Remember you can get things refunded if you don’t end up liking a game.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

What a bummer. Might get it second hand then instead.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Did they fix the janky dodging and rolling though?

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, I had to put it down.

The gameplay was ultimately just too annoying to me, which is a bummer because the ideas and aesthetic were exceedingly cool.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

I hope you have fun with it. :)

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Good. WotC is wretched hive of scum and villainy.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

This wasn’t part of Next Fest, but I devoured ‘Tainted Grail - Fall of Avalon’. Excellent demo.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

I hope this iteration gives the player a more open world and a little more freedom than the previous entries, but it looks pretty neat!

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Bummer.

Was hoping for a RDR-style Mafia game. Oh well.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Tainted Grail Fall of Avalon

Tried the demo and it hooked me. Great game so far.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

I’m only in the second zone of the game but there’s a lot to see and do just in the starter dungeon and the game’s first zone. I’m really enjoying it so far.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Someone please remember to tell them that WE WANT FAST TRAVEL. The lack of it in the SW: Jedi games is so aggravating.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Hands-down the best AAA title (in both content and value) in years.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

The dodging on this game was frustratingly buggy.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Or get it second-hand off G2A or CDKeys.

I’m never paying $80 for a video game.

Anyone here afraid of Mannequins? (www.youtube.com) angielski

Hey everyone! I am currently making a horror game called The 18th Attic where you have to hunt ghosts in your attic by taking a Polaroid picture of them! It is mostly inspired by Fatal Frame, but this part is inspired by that Resident Evil 8 Mannequin and a tinyyy bit of Weeping angels from Doctor Who scene!...

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Mannequins scare the heck out of me.

I blame it on Herbie Hancock’s music video for the song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHhD4PD75zY. (Still one of the most unintentionally horrifying things I’ve ever seen.)

Also, if you like mannequin horror, the game The Devil In Me is a must-play.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Demons Souls is so damn good.

The Tower of Latria is still one of my favorite dungeons ever made.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Nintendo’s single-minded determination to enshittify makes me want to wait to get the next Switch, TBH.

I know it won’t matter, as their core fan base will happily endure the bullshit changes they’re considering for another Zelda or Mario Kart, but it would be nice if enough people decide not to buy that it actually persuades the company to be a little more reasonable.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

For the last 10 years I’ve only paid full price for one AAA game: Elden Ring. I’ve gotten something like 200 hours out of it. It may be the best value for a AAA game ever, in my book. (And I haven’t yet played the expansion.)

I’m happy to wait for sales on everything else, including the secondary market for Nintendo games, but after their recent fuckery in multiple arenas, I’m not keen buying anything they produce. (Not that it matters. Their stuff will sell regardless.)

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Jedi Fallen Order has no fast travel and the map sucks, do you often end up lost or backtracking.

Divinity Original Sin is also one that doesn’t guide the player particularly well.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Stoked to try this game, but I’m waiting a few months for a patch to the graphics issues.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

I wish we could have gotten R6:Patriots.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

How many of you got ripped off by the redhead, though?

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

It’s wild how good the cheap games are these days. I’m 30 hours into playing Noita, have hundreds of hours in Vampire Survivor.

And I got about 15 hours into Dragon Age: Veilguard before it occurred to me I could crack open the Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition and actually have an enjoyable experience.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

I would suggest trying Caveblazers, as it’s similar, but it’s more barebones and (I think) significantly harder.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

I gave it 10 hours and had to just conclude that, nope, this wasn’t for me. Instead, go get the Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition for 5 bucks with all the DLC’s. That game is a work of art and has one of the best expansions ever made.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

It’s not that it’s bad.

It just doesn’t feel like Dragon Age. It’s like Dragon Age if Disney made a DA game.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

I’ve had some fun Anti-Nazi movies playing while I work-from-home lately, like Inglourious Basterds and The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.

Help me out: which looks better for the Duck - the neck tie or the bow tie? (lemmy.world) angielski

So I’m re-doing some of my Do Not Press The Button (Or You’ll Delete The Multiverse) character models and I have this duck that is kind of inspired by the Companion Cube in Portal. I want to make it as appealing as possible so the players will attach to it and carry it around with them. Which looks better! I’m more partial...

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

There’s no wrong answer here, but I like the bow tie.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Good.

Console exclusivity was always a super shitty idea.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

That’s literally the only reason I have Epic on my PC.

Free games every week.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

I have a reminder to check it on my Proton calendar every week, haha.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

It could happen, but if it does, it’ll be decades down the line. Gaben has surrounded himself with true believers on purpose, in part to prevent that scenario.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

There are always extra steps with piracy.

But it’s worth it.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Neverwinter Nights, probably 10k plus hours over the last 22 years, and Dead by Daylight (1666 hours).

Great games, both. I DM a weekly campaign on Neverwinter Nights.

Do you have any recommendations for casual games? angielski

After starting work, I feel so tired every day, so I just want to play some casual games. Recently, I’m playing survivor-like games like Vampire Survivors and Darkchaser. They’re simple and fun, but after a while, they get a bit boring. So, I’m looking for other casual game recommendations, preferably single-player games...

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

The ones I’ve played of late are:

Disney Dreamlight Valley

Dungeons of the Endless (Casual, but a tad addictive)

Dungeon Defenders

Trying to fill a 24-hour news cycle requires a lot of bullshit, and Fox, NBC, CNN, CBS, and your favorite news outlet are happy to shovel it.

Stop watching partisan, billionaire-owned news outlets and start consuming international news and non-partisan sites. (Like the AP and Al Jazeera)

Also, watch moderate people on the other side of the political divide. It may annoy you in some ways (like how I can’t listen to Maher when he gets on the topic of Israel), but you’ll learn more and you’ll have more nuanced views, which will benefit you in ways you can’t fully understand until you’re able to think about things in a different way. I’m a leftist, so for me, it’s been Bill Maher, Chris Williamson, or Jon Stewart. More people need to learn what they don’t know that they don’t know.
